Super Smash Bros. Dojo has been giving those addictive daily updates about the new Wii title, but what you may not have noticed is that there’s a lot of freaks like me who have been paying way too close of attention to the details.
Franchise icons (shown above) are used to highlight which game a character, stage, or item is from. These are labeled as /world_b_01.jpg, /world_b_02.jpg, /world_b_03.jpg, etc. etc. Except when you hit number 13, the icon is missing. This was also true for numbers 14 and 17 until Ice Climbers and Solid Snake showed up. The question is, which game will take the unknown spot?
My guess is Mr.Game&Watch.
What I really want to know, however, is whether or not these icons stop at number 18…
My guess is that they will leave nr 13 out… I mean, it brings bad luck and we don’t want that to happen, do we? Several airplanes and hotels has no seat or room 13, so why would SSBB? =D
It’s a wild guess but it makes me the winner in this bet until I’m proven incorrect. =)

That means there’s gonna be an animal crossing character?
I hope it’s not game & watch but some other game, that way there could be more characters, (game & watch is just mr game & watch) maybe the icon that’s missing is a sonic one?
Well, the icon is there because an Animal Crossing stage was announced. Which, if you’re going to have a stage, then there should probably be a character in it. I’ve always hoped for Tom Nook to be a character, but since he’s one of the background characters of that stage, it looks like he won’t be.
Personally, I think Nook was photoshopped in to look like he’s not a character. Honest.
If Sonic isn’t franchise 13 all logic in the world will have failed. I highly doubt that there will only be 18 icons though. Original characters with their own move sets shouldn’t get cut out. I know I would miss the lovable stick figure. Also Megaman.
The Sonic icon on the site is listed as 20. SO now we have no 13 or 19
