Giveaway #3: Zelda Game & Watch Keychain [Closed]

November 9th, 2007

Zelda

TimRemember the pre-Gameboy handhelds Nintendo used to make called Game & Watch? I sure do, and I was excited to find that some of them were remade in keychain form. These neat little pieces of nostalgia were unceremoniously released some years back, but can still be found occasionally at Toys ‘R’ Us. I was able to pick up a couple Zelda and Donkey Kong Mini Classics awhile ago and would love to give away a Zelda one this week! I’ll get a better picture up later, but as you can see it has two screens and closes together like a DS. The game will come new, unopened. Also, this is probably the most difficult Zelda game ever made. I’m not kidding either. To enter the contest, just leave a comment below telling me what your favorite G & W game was, or if you’ve never played one, what newer Nintendo franchise do you think would be cool to see as a Game & Watch game? Good luck!

[Update]: The contest winner is chosen at random. I typically use random.org to generate a random number between 1 and X (number of comments).

[Update 2]: Lucky number 13 came up as my random integer (from random.org), so Troy is our lucky winner! Thanks for participating everyone and keep checking back each Friday for some sort of giveaway!

I think a Mario Kart G&W game would be terrific! The track would probably have to be perfectly straight, but you could put banana peels and other drivers and whatnot.

My brothers and I were quite lucky when my dad brought the Donkey Kong Game and Watch back from Japan after a business trip in the early to mid 80s. (along with a game called Donkey Angler, which wasn’t as good)
We would play Donkey Kong for hours on the long drives to relatives’ houses.
I actually just found my DK G&W in my parents’ basement a couple weeks ago and want to get a battery to see if it still works.

I don’t know why, but I found “manhole” really, REALLY fun. I have no idea why. Maybe I just liked to watch people fall down. :)

I really liked to play Game and Watch Gallery for my Gameboy, and my cousin had Game and watch gallery 3 for Gameboy color.

I also remember playing game and watch mini-games on the gameboy camera. (The DS really needs one)

As I child, I grew up without Nintendo consoles. Believe it or not, I started off with Sega! Then my sister one a competition for a Gameboy Colour, and my Nintendo life just began from there. The only one game we had for a couple of months was Game And Watch Gallery for Gameboy. I had never seen a Game And Watch in real life (or at all until about 2 years ago), so it’s hard for me to say which Game And Watch in particular I liked.

    Still, I liked it.

Way back in the day, my Dad had a Game & Watch game (I think it was “Fire”) where babies were thrown out of an apartment window at high speed and it was your job to use one of those fireman’s trampoline things to bounce the baby to safety. The family used to keep it in the bathroom and we would all compete for the highest score. Those were the days…

I still remember my old key chain G&W Parachute. It was a fun game and an alarm. I used to carry it with me where ever I go, but now it is missing. Although it might have been the only one I played, I was the best little video game I had.

was the one where you rescue people jumping from a building a G&W game?… if not, well it would be cool if brain age series was adapted for G&W.

My favorite one was the one where you bounced food up and across to a fat man. I loved feeding that fatty.

    Hmm, that’s a toughie.

I really liked “Manhole” but I’ve lost the game by now…

But there was also a really fun one on a WarioWare game I played, where two Game & Watches try to tame lions in a cage for as long as possible. I’m not sure if that was an actual Game & Watch game, if it was I sure would like to play it.

As for a new franchise…. How ’bout Metal Gear?
“Mr. Game & Watch? ……. GAME & WAAAAAATCH!!!”
    Now THAT would be classic.

Even though I have yet to own an original G&W (and it appears to be getting harder and harder every day sadly..), I’ve had the joy of playing a few. Of the ones I played, I really enjoyed Penguin Land and Oil Panic the most. Chucking bombs back and forth is always entertaining and sometimes purposely dumping a full pail of oil on the managers head… priceless.
As for Legend of Zelda G&W, never played but always wanted to try out its three or four screened glory. Got the LoZ Xbox 360 (put a triforce on the side), a LoZ-themed website, a LoZ keychain, a future LoZ tag on my car (right on the hood, just cannot afford yet), beaten almost every LoZ game (left are Adventure of Link, Links Awakening, Phillips CD-i titles, and the G&W obviously). A LoZ keychain would be a nice addition to the collection. :D
I hope the person who gets it enjoys the majestic difficulty that is the G&W title.

I only ever played the old Mario watch game. It got pretty awesome for something so basic, included gravity in some levels and didn’t for levels entirely in “pipes”

I played games similar to the Game & Watch feature, but not an actual original down-to-the-point Game & Watch. However, one of a Mario platformer that is uber long especially with this kind of technology would be nice. Or else I’d just play what they have already like Donkey Kong or Flagman, heh.

Mine is most definitely the 2 screen Mario Bros. (The one of the bottles). It was super sweet.

I would have loved something like star fox in G&W, a little shooter, or metroid could have been good too.
