I Hate Spam

The last 48 hours have been frustrating for me as this site has been targeted with lots and lots of spam comments. I get an email every time someone comments whether the comment is approved or gets caught in my filter and needs approval. Let’s just say I’m getting a lot of email these days. In an effort to curb the spamming, I’m going to close comments on all comics and blog posts that are more than a month old. We get very few comments on older comics anyway, so I don’t think it’s a huge loss. You can always email us if you feel the need to respond to something in our archives.
[Update]: Just saw that one of my anti-spam plugins was disabled. I don’t know how that happened, but maybe that’s the problem!
I came on here from RSS about to say “use Akismet!” …. but then I see the update. Darn.
Thanks Jacob, that’s what’s weird. Akismet was deactivated for some reason, even though I would never do that. I figured all that spam was somehow bypassing Akismet, but shame on me for doubting my plugin!

Spam? I think it might be because you’re on Google and someone caught your user-base. Probably thinks this site gets a ton of hits or something, who would’ve known! *sarcasm*
Akismet at least works fairly well. I’m guessing you’re using that.
