So I was wondering, How do you come up with the number scores? Is it some hidden secret formula you work out in your head that no one will ever know? Or do you have a system? I was just wondering.

I suppose you could say I treat the games with more of a grade. It’s as though I’m a class teacher being handed students’ projects. Anything 5.9 or below is failing. In this case, a 7.3 for Crossbow Training is a fun but fairly mediocre game that doesn’t do anything of “B+” material.

Of course, this is all based on the type of project. In this case, the assignment was “make a game bundled with a Zapper for $20.” If it were a $50 stand-alone game, it would have failed miserably.

For some reason I’m having bundles of fun with this short short Wii tech demo. Some might be put off just because it’s “another” point and shooter for Wii. What they might miss though is that this one is actually fun and real cheap to boot. Though, this could have easily been included as part of LoZ TP as an unlockable for some added shinanigans.

Ah geez! This is out already isn’t it? I completely forgot! I need this! I CRAVE IT! /Zelda fanboyism

  5. Troy says:

Pretty spot on review. And I agree with Xeno, I rushed out a few days after it came out to get it due to Zelda fanboyism.

I’ll add that I really enjoy this game too. My only real complaint is that you can’t send high scores to friends like in Big Brain Academy. Ray and I have done our own high score chart with an online Google Spreadsheet, but it’s obviously not as good as having the Wii’s blue light crush your hopes and dreams when your friend decimates your treasured high scores.

Wouldn’t dropping the whole number system better everything though? It’d make the whole “games as art” argument far more valid. Now Michaelangelo, he got a 6.5 and gets fired from his job, but you know, that’s the part of the story no one hears.

On the Gerstman thing, I’m just playin’ on a rumor. I do not mean to inflame the industry with what may or may not have been truth.
