Hell Freezes Over, Ray Gets an Xbox 360

Ray

TimThat’s right folks, our very own Ray Hargreaves of 2P START! fame has taken the plunge and impulse-bought an Xbox 360 along with Sonic Unleashed (big surprise). Who knew that the horrible Wii version of Sonic Unleashed could drive him to such madness? Regardless, let’s welcome him with open arms to the ‘light side’ (as DJ puts it)! Ray’s gamertag is “Ray 2P START”, so go ahead and send him a friend request, and while you’re at it, send me one too if you haven’t done so (gamertag: wilef).

Your second task is to suggest some 360 games for Ray as I doubt Sonic Unleashed, Lego Indiana Jones, and Kung-Fu Panda will hold his attention for too long. Let’s focus on fun online multi-player titles (retail or arcade) to get him used to a REAL online gaming experience!

*jawdrop* Seriously. That’s what I did. To be quite honest…I want one too, but in a weird way. It’s almost as if I want one just for the sake of having it and practically no games interest me. And I know for a fact that if I got one, my dad would be playing it more than me as he is the one that wants one…not me. XD

If I was to get one…the games I’d get would be:
    Viva Pinata 2
    Braid
….that’s all I can think of. See my problem?

  3. vlad3163 says:

Castle Crashers, definitely. One of the best Arcade titles released, and a damn fun co-op game as well.

  4. Premium Member roadjcat says:

I have the original Viva Pinata for the PC and that’s pretty fun. Same goes with Portal.

  5. Premium Member sheppy says:

Well, on Black Friday, I’ll officially be reinvested in the 360 experience as well. So send me a friend request. “NME Se7eN”

I’ll send some both of you guys ways once I get home on on the website.

  6. ….nuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!

  7. Comatose811 says:

Ray, buy The Orange Box. Portal is just too good to miss.

By the way, what is up with that pose for the Avatars? It looks ridiculous. Who stands like that?

  8. Fierce Deity says:

sweet i’ll add the both of you
and you must get braid its sooo awesome, kinda like mario meets portal
    oh yeah get portal too
    and halo
gamertag is fiercedeitytom (i usually go by the names fierce diety or tom on this site but cant login coz the password reset is buggered. but yeah i am a regular visitor not just some random dude)

  9. Premium Member roadjcat says:

I really enjoyed Portal, but I’m not sure if it would be worth buying all the other games if you aren’t interested in them. If you are interested in the rest of the games in the orange box, I’d probably say go for it too, but if you just want Portal, then you can get it by itself on the PC or isn’t Still Alive a downloadable game?

I will be joining the same boat soon, just because the Wii is never getting to the point of having a stock that lasts longer than the attention span of a kid with a.d.d . And I want to get the GOOD version of Unleashed for a system that doesn’t cost a bajillion bells… *cough cough ps3 cough*

Welcome aboard AvataRay! Down with Mii’s up with Avatars!

congratulations, I might have to get me one of those some day.

    Nah. Couldn’t be.

Good luck with the Xbox. But watch out: If you discover a truly awesome gem of a game, you’ll be stuck with the red ring of death. Bwaha.

if i do though, about how many game-saves could I get on the arcade memory?

Right now I am playing Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts, which is an awesome game.

Woah. He got one. Now it’s official. I NEED A 360! I have a PS3/2/1, Wii/gamecube, plus a lot of retro consoles, but if Ray got one, I’m getting on the next chance I have!

Did you see the PS3 sale on Amazon? 200 for the system with BluRay and a game! You just have to stay up tomorrow…

It appears that a few of us have reached that same conclusion…IMO, it’s a bit sad…I mean no offense to Ray, but all of the sudden he gets one and everyone else jumps on the bandwagon? Can’t we think for ourselves? Well apparently not…XD

Why can’t you get that on the Wii? XD

My god Ray! You’ve destroyed the space time continum! The last time this happened was when someone divided by zero! What have you done?!

    …kidding! Welcome aboard, Ray! :D

If you haven’t played Bionic Commando Rearmed yet, get it. $10 in arcade is a steal for that game.

  25. Comatose811 says:

I’d suggest buying the entire Orange Box. Portal is great, and so is Half-Life 2, and Team Fortress 2 is a good multiplayer game. Plus, it’s down to like $20 bucks some places, at least where I live.

  26. Premium Member roadjcat says:

The last time this happened was when someone divided by zero!

This is really off-topic, but I never understood why something divided by zero wasn’t infinity…

  27. Tanooki Joey says:

You have GOT to go with Left 4 Dead. I’ve been so addicted to that game ever since I picked it up. A fantastic online multiplayer.

  28. Tim says:

infinity isn’t a number, so nothing can ‘equal’ infinity. You can only say that as the denominator approaches zero, the quotient approaches infinity.

  29. Phos says:

A bit of advice about Sonic Unleashed: pump up Sonic the Werehog more than Sonic the Hedgehog. The staring Werehog is lacking a bunch of useful moves and is a bit too easy to kill. Basically, It’s like Samus immediately after landing on Talon IV (or was it V?)

…The difference is night and day ;)

  30. Premium Member roadjcat says:

Well I’d say that infinity is a better term than undefined. But whatever. And just to preface (well I guess it’s a little late for a preface but whatever) I am actually pretty good at math, but I have weird questions. XD

And Phos, it’s Tallon IV. Though I’m curious why you used that planet instead of Zebes considering she had absolutely NOTHING when she invaded Zebes.

  31. Guilherme says:
    GH3.

Or everyone who just has a Wii is getting fed up with the lack of games at the same time?

I’ve considered getting a 360, but I’ve still got to go through my PS2 backlog before that.

  34. Premium Member roadjcat says:

Or everyone who just has a Wii is getting fed up with the lack of games at the same time?

Then why am I included in that bandwagon? I’m obviously not upset with the lack of Wii games am I?

  35. Needlemouse says:

The Wii version of Sonic Unleashed is far from horrible. I’ve almost finished it 100% now (only 1 moon medal still missing) and enjoyed it a lot. Yeah, the amount of nightime stages vs. daytime stages is disappointing, but at least the werehog is fun to play. And the werehog’s stages don’t take that long to complete either, you can dash through them in 5-6 minutes, if you’re leveled up and got the hang of things. Conversely, you can easily spend 10+ minutes in a daytime Sonic stage and realize how large they really are without boosting, when you’re scouring for the hidden extras.

The HD version of the game (360/PS3) is noticeably different and definitely better though.

  36. Premium Member roadjcat says:

Y’know…wait a minute. IMO, there’s no lack of Wii games at all. Stupid typing without thinking. XD

  37. Num says:

Sometimes I consider getting myself a 360 too. Not so much for the “usual” games, but for the Live Arcade. And as far as usual (boxed) games go, I find the current generation rather disappointing, still not delivering after two years. There are many fun games, but very very few of them are actually worth the money IMO. (I should note games around here are more expensive than in the US, and I only consider shelving what would be roughly US$ 70—100 if the game has true replayability)

  38. Guilherme says:

Num, I’m in a similar situation… games here cost around 100-120 dollars… I’ve only got GH3 because of that |:

  39. boozeathon says:

Although you shoulda bought a PS3, the 360 is an awesome gaming machine in its own right and has a lot of good games.

Fallout 3 is an awesome singleplayer game.

Castle Crashers is one of the best beatem ups possibly ever.

Gears of War, COD4, The Orange Box, and Halo 3 are awesome FPS titles with solid multiplayer.

Uno, TMNT, and other arcade games are fun as hell to play online with friends and random people.

Bionic Commando Rearmed is a blastyblast.

And there are a ton of other solid games (single and multi) to dig into. Those are just the ones that stand out to me as I type this off the top of my head. And, as a lifelong Nintendo fan myself, don’t feel bad about the 360 purchase. The Wii hasn’t had enough for real gamers to sink their teeth into without going to a second or third console. Unless, that is, you love casual games aimed at little kids….

  40. Premium Member FluffyPanda says:

My friend list hasn’t really had much attention since I got the 360 at launch… which means there’s still lots of space! Hurrah!

The last time this happened was when someone divided by zero!

This is really off-topic, but I never understood why something divided by zero wasn’t infinity…

This post was kind of buried, but in case you still care:

When you “divide”, you’re basically asking “How many groups of x are in a total quantity of y”, i.e. 500/20 is like “How many groups of 20 are in a total quantity of 500″. When you divide by zero, you’re saying “How many groups of 0…”, which doesn’t have an answer, because it’s a nonentity. Infinity groups of zero is still zero. You don’t suddenly have a quantity of “y” because you have infinitely many groups of zero.

    </nerdiness>

P.S. I still don’t care to get a 360. I’m not really into FPS’, so a huge chunk of games are out by default. Most of the other games I would want are on the Wii anyway, so the only reasons for me to get one would be A. the few games (like Braid) that I would be interested in that I can’t get on Wii, and B. the few games that are significantly better on 360 (I’m not talking graphics, because better graphics don’t make a game more fun, I’m talking stuff like Rock Band where Wii owners get shafted). But that’s not enough to warrant a purchase, and even if it was, I wouldn’t buy one just because somebody else on the Internet bought one.

Well I always thought of it as say…

20/4. That’s like asking how many groups of 4 fit into 20. So when you say 20/0 you are asking how many groups of zero fit into 20 and since you can fit an infinite amount of nothing into anything, I just always thought the answer would be ?.

Burn the traitor, burn the traitor!

    LOL! Nice.

Ha, Tim’s really opening up a can of worms with that last line! I mean, come on! Wii’s got some pretty good stuff, with 2009 possibly doubling it.

I’d tell Ray to try Mirror’s Edge. Definitely looks cool although supposedly the PS3 version slightly edges it out. (no pun intended)

    Maybe Street Fighter 4 whenever that’s released…

Well, you’re not really fitting an infinite amount of nothing into something, because you still won’t get to the number desired. Like, let’s say you say “Give me a million dollars.” If I say “OK, here’s infinite groups of $0.” you won’t ever get a million dollars, so the number of groups isn’t infinity, or any number, because it’s impossible to get to any number by giving you more groups of nothing. Therefore, it’s undefined, because there is no number in existence that will give you a million dollars (or whatever number) in groups of zero.

While our taste in games may differ dramatically, I can’t help but recommend Left 4 Dead. It’s a zombie shooter with great multiplayer. And you get to PLAY AS ZOMBIES!!!!!! How cool is that. I’ve got my copy on order from Amazon – should be here in a day or two.

  46. Mkava says:

Welcome to the 360 experience, Ray. :)
You’ve already added me (same with Ray) but I might as well drop my gamertag here as well, in case some other 2P START folks want to add me: KampingKava.

Feel free to compare games to see which ones I’ve enjoyed the most (the highest gamer score usually means the game I’ve played the most). But some worth mentioning… Call of Duty 4 (older now but was a solid game), Mass Effect (if you love FPS or RPG and dont mind them crossing), Castle Crashers (classic arcade beat-em-up revisited in a very entertaining package that is relatively cheap for the enjoyment level, best with multiplayer). I should get some more 360 titles.. barely have any.. xD

Anywho, welcome and hope to see both of you online. :D
