Yes! Finally up! I’m about to listen…

2. Highwater Trousers says:

Hooray! Episode 100 is finally here! Can’t tell you guys how much I’ve looked forward to this!

3. Batty1580 says:

DARN IT! I was going for first. Curse this slow computer.

4. elah says:

It’s the mark of a great podcast that you can work through the entire archives, sometimes five episodes a night, then listen all the way through to the hundredth episode, without tiring at all of the only two people who talk on it. Congratulations on your 100th episode of 2P Start amazingness. Now I will actually listen to the episode.

5. blaster says:

Finally, it’s here!

6. The Gastronomic Gamer says:

I laughed, I cried, the t-shirts weren’t as good as I hoped.
(I really like the Q*Bert one, though)

Also, the podcast would not work as well without the comic. What makes it interesting is the fact that you work so hard together on a comic. Without that bond, it sounds like two guys who are just friends.

I thought that you were gonna bring back all of the segments for podcast 100. I was all ready for Trivia for Two/You. :'(

Promise me that you’ll bring back those segments. PROMISE.

7. Supersonic24 says:

lol, awesome podcast guys! Best in a while! Also, I liked the Ray and Tim shirt most.

8. Mikallein says:

EPIC pod cast guys! (Epcg)
Really great job! Also i can’t wait for the new t-shirts.
I think the one you should have made first is the mege man toe hang cuz its so frikin funny.
I have not ROFLOL’d this hard sence pod cast 97 (givin it was not that long ago) but still great job.

9. Chocolate_bob says:

Yay! The last time I got an iPod you guys updated, and you updated again today! Horrays!

10. steve-ohs says:

Great Job Guys!
Thank you for releasing such great podcasts every week! I always look forward to them. Heres hoping for 100 more podcasts!

-My favorite shirt was the Tim and Ray outline.

11. #100, congrats!

Racist Tim Raypublicans strike back! tsk tsk. Just in time to avoid re-election tomorrow!

– On NSMBwii, I have to say, having the Toads was a wasted opportunity; Wario & Waluigi seem obvious choices in my mind. Waluigi in particular could use something more than ‘Mario DDR Villian’ to add to his repertoire.

– 2Pstart is the #1 podcast in my book. On the other hand, it is also the only podcast I listen to. On the other other hand, I actually do listen to this podcast, so there’s that.

– Nice shirts, too. If I were to choose, I’d go for the Q*Bert. Though, the Raybob tee seems a no-brainer. Now we just need Tim beanies!

• CKcheeseboy says:

The Lost podcast is pretty funny, but obviously only if you actually watch Lost. Other than that, the only podcasts I subscribe to are the Homestar Runner one (which is really just some of their normal toons) and “Best of YouTube”, which is hit or miss but can be pretty good. 2P Start Live is definitely the best, though.

I loved this episode. The Sonic call-in was amazing, and Ray’s political ad is classic. Great job.

12. Apkinesis says:

Nice 100th guys; totally worth the wait!

Wow, I honestly wasn’t expecting you guys to catch my comic in time for the Podcast (figured you might take a head start recording this week), let alone having it win a Knubby Award πŸ˜€ Many thanks for the honor; glad you enjoyed it! Awesome and hilarious voice-over work; now I need to make a video of the comic using the voices for Hoshi and “Not Hoshi” πŸ˜›

Speaking of videos, I still have one more surprise for you, since your week off from recording gave me some time to prepare a little video tribute. Enjoy, and congrats again!

On topic of the actual Podcast, I especially enjoyed all the Skype calls; always fun to hear 2P START! and The Lame Show cross Podcasts, and Mario and Sonic were fun references. And the anti-Timocrat political ad is as funny as ever. Regarding t-shirts, the Tim/Ray silhouettes one looks pretty awesome; I’ll probably be picking that up sometime.

13. elah says:

I finished the podcast. It was AWESOME!!

I’d just like to say that my favorite three T-Shirts were the Pixel-Vision one, the Raybob Industries one and the Dancing with the Stars one (I have a real soft spot for that comic.)

• elah says:

Merch beyond T-Shirts would be awesome too. (I WANT LIGHTSPEED SHOES!!! GAAAAAAA!!!) But seriously, it’d be nice to have, like, coffee mugs or mousepads or something.

14. roadjcat says:

Very much enjoyed this episode. The “people” thing was funny yet again. Though surprised again to not hear some of the regulars mentioned.

Great podcast. Looking forward to another 100? πŸ˜€

And I agree with Ray about the podcast. I think you could do it without the comic. Sometimes comic talk only lasts for like two seconds anyway.

Also, who’s picking Musical Misfits next week?

15. Anon says:

I know a friend who would love the Megaman shirt, though I’m partial to the Q*bert one.

Also, Congrats!

(One more thing. At the end of the podcast- is that a remix of “Can You Feel the Sunshine”?

16. BadnikHunter says:

Awesome podcast guys! I was pretty much expecting at least Eddie to be on it, but not Noah. I really like the Pixel Vision shirt, though the Q-Bert and Mega Man ones are awesome too. Keep on rockin’ guys, and lets hope for another hundred πŸ˜€

17. MetaRidleyR27 says:

Awesome Podcast Guys! This is easily on my list of best 2P START! episodes thus far. I really enjoyed this year’s Knubby Awards, as well as the call-ins, with Sonic’s being a personal favorite. As for the new t-shirts, I’d be most likely to buy the Raybob logo and Tim/Ray outlines. Anyway, congratulations on reaching 100 episodes, and I look forward to all of the future podcast episodes and comics! πŸ˜€

18. Superfiver says:

Awesome Podcast guys! I am happy to hear that you guys know how to say my user name. It seems many people pronounce it wrong, but not you Ray. Not you.

Ok to clear up on exactly happened with when I started reading this comic. I did come when you guys where just starting off. I think I came in around the 15th comic or something like that. I just remember book marker this website with my firefox and I didn’t check that book mark tell you guys made comic 70 “Now You’re Playing With Power!”

The first thing thinking when I read that comic was that DANG the quality in art style has kicked it up a few notches. So I wasn’t here for the first comic but I was here from one of the first ones before the art started to rock.

19. blaster says:

Cool Podcast!
The best Tshirt is the T&R one.
Mario strikes again… Didn’t Ray change his Skype number?
How did you make that sonic voice anyway?
This episode will stay in my MP3 forever.
That’s for sure.

20. Highwater Trousers says:

Wow, what a great podcast! 43 minutes might seem like a long time to listen to two guys talking, but time just seemed to fly by. I really enjoyed the skype calls and I agree, there should be the Anti-Tim ad as a separate audio file – it’s just plain funny. I’m not sure if this question has been raised/answered, but how much does Charles I-can’t-remember-his-name get paid to voice Mario? I mean, Mario can’t have that many lines… can he?

Also, is it true that to decode the secret message for the invitation to the live podcast recording, you had to do the following?
Stand on your head, balance Dr. Pepper in one foot and a Sonic hat in the other, read the last couple of comics in ultraviolet light, listen to Podcast #99 backwards, and hum Zipchord/Invincibility, all at the same time, finished with shouting “2… P… START!!!”

Anyways, Tim and Ray, congratulations and thank you for all 100 podcasts! Can’t wait for what the future holds!

21. D3vin says:

I liked the announcement about Tim and Ray have already been married, I’ll be seeing you at the parade!

Just kidding, I did like the Part with Sonic and How my name was mentioned twice for the ‘fan art’ Knubby, although I didn’t win. Better luck next Season, and Since I’m working on a new fan comic, I’ll be a shoe-in.

22. CKcheeseboy says:

I guess you guys didn’t get my list of reasons I’m the number one fan? I’ll post it again…
1. I’m not creepy.
j/k freeplay, but seriously, what’s with #54? πŸ˜›

23. Talduras says:

Had to skip around a bit due to short lunch-break (gah! It’s almost over), so I’ll just say that the only shirt I’d have any interest in buying would be the Mega Man toe-grab endurance shirt. Whether or not I actually will is another matter entirely (kind of tapped-out on video-game themed shirts =P ).

24. DrOswald says:

First of all, the new t-shirts. I am glad you are finally coming out with some new designs. Here are my preferences in order (and why:)

Q-Bert: The problem with most gamer t shirts is that they instantly label you as a nerd. This shirt also labels you as a nerd, but it’s more like a classy nerd. Almost certainly a buy.

Dancing with the stars Jigglypuff: I have always liked Jigglypuff for some weird reason, and while I don’t think I would ever want to wear this one on campus, I could see wearing it to work or to a DnD session and enjoying the crazy looks and giving a long winded explanation. I need a few new t shirts with some novelty value to them, so I will probably get this one when it comes out.

Raybob logo: Sort of a incognito way of declaring your a 2P start fan. When this shirt comes out, I will likely buy it just because it’s another t shirt I can wear without getting weird looks. Plus, it is in my university’s color, so I could wear it to football games and stuff. probable buy.

The Tim and Ray silhouette: Another good shirt. By no means my favorite design, but it has staying power. You could wear this for 2 years and not get sick of it. However, I doubt I buy this one. I think I would go for the Raybob shirt first.

Mega Man Shirt: Not so keen on this one. Its not a bad design, but I don’t really care for it myself. No buy.

Pixel Vision: If I were to buy this shirt, I would have to explain it a lot and I am not a huge fan of Pixel vision and Lace anyway, so this one is also a no buy.

Anyway, about the podcast, really good podcast this time around. I liked the call in from sonic routine, and the overall quality was very good. I have never listened to the lame show so maybe I’ll check that out.

• The Gastronomic Gamer says:

Really? Pixel Vision would be my second choice. The problem I have with Dancing with the Stars is that even ‘I’ still don’t completely get it.

• Tim says:

Neither do I, my friend. Neither do I.

• Talduras says:

Funny how simple puns like that are. I mean, you see the words “Dancing with the Stars,” and all the info to get the joke is right there in front of you… poking you in the eye… with a stick… that smells like spearmint! It’s like you feel you should be laughing, but aren’t sure whether the creators of that joke are really going to make it that easy for you.

It’s the same conundrum I ran into with the 3rd panel of the Halloween Safety Tips comic. “Ask nicely, but if that doesn’t work, triforce!” So it leaves us asking, “Wait… what? Where’s the cream filling! I mean… where’s the pun? Is there some microscopic detail I missed? Did Ray place some hidden message in this dark panel that somehow doesn’t show up on my monitor that can’t discern between Coal Black and Ebony? Surely the joke isn’t this giant not-exactly-triangle-shaped candy corn and this odd appearance of the word ‘triforce.’ Maybe it has something to do with that creepy old man, or the fact that Link is wearing orange instead of green. I must comb the comic for details!”

Oh Ray… how you tease us… :-/

• DrOswald says:

The thing I like about the “Dancing with the Stars” is not so much the joke (which is ok but not fantastic) but that it has Jigglypuff on it, but it is not highly feminine.

25. mocliamtoh says:

Three comments

1) I’d probably go for a raybob logo or a Pixel vision shirt.

2) Really awesome podcast with the knubby’s. I didn’t listen to all the podcasts you were talking about, but I will for next year.

3) Am I the only one that feels a little bit cheated at no musical misfit? I mean, you told us to submit them, and we didn’t get that section. *sigh* I guess I’ll have to go listen to the end of podcast 93 (with monty on the run).

Here’s to *inserts credit* 2pStart.

26. CKcheeseboy says:

Not to derail from the “yay podcast 100” hoopla, and I don’t know why I didn’t suggest this as a Musical Misfit before, but here’s The Ballad of the Wind Fish from Link’s Awakening, my favorite Zelda game (which is severely underrated).

• Tim says:

I’m on board with this selection! While I’d probably consider Wind Waker the best Zelda title, Link’s Awakening has to be a CLOSE second for me. Really awesome game.

• The Gastronomic Gamer says:

I love the game and the song, but I don’t think that the song makes sense without the game attached to it. You need to have a memory of it in the first place.

• Talduras says:

I can confirm that, Gastronomic Gamer. Link’s Awakening is one of the few Zelda’s I haven’t played (you may commence “for shame!” attacks later), and this song leaves a giant ellipse over my head. It’s kind of like hearing each of the individual pieces of that special melody from Earthbound merged together manually using sound-editing software, without hearing the full piece that they include in that game when you get the final special sound.

• 285 says:

Really? I think that this song has been rathewr overplayed, and I was never really fond of it, I think that all songs from the Zelda series have been aknowledges pretty well so I would exclude all Zelda tracks from musical misfits as Zelda is probably the series that most people have all of (Unless they’re from spin-offs like the Tongle series or Crossbow Training)

• The Gastronomic Gamer says:

I wanna play Tongle’s Rose-Colored Rupee Land.

I’m sorry, that was mean.

• Mkava says:

You might want to go harass the folks at ZREO (zreomusic.com) about this one.
And yes, it’s their most requested song, _ever_.

• CKcheeseboy says:

Yeah, I just noticed that they only had 4 LA songs. What’s up with that? Good to know that it’s not due to a lack of requests, though.

@Talduras: Unfortunately, too many people haven’t played it. That game is probably my #1 reason why Nintendo should make a Virtual Handheld for the DSi, because it’s an amazing game that so few people (even among Zelda fans) have played, and there’s not a lot of opportunity for them even if they wanted to (legally, anyway). A remake would be good, too, but I think the game is good enough that a remake isn’t even necessary. In the Pokemon series, for example, the originals looked dated after each new generation, so FireRed and LeafGreen were justified, but I think LADX would still hold its own today.

• The Gastronomic Gamer says:

As for puzzling goodness, I think that Link’s Awakening is unrivaled except for the oracle games.

27. Kvb says:

1. What! Only 43 minutes? I was expecting this episode to last at least 2 days straight.

2. Gasp, my very own Knubby Award! I don’t have a speech prepared, though! I guess I’d like to thank my parents, and…

3. Eddie’s appearance was great. We need more of him. It’s been too long!

4. I do think this is the best podcast, period. What DO you guys need to do to get a friggin’ reward around here?

5. Cool new shirt designs. I think the Q*bert and Mega Man ones are the best. Can I choose one of the new designs as the shirt I’d like with my Knubby, by the way?

6. I gotta say, despite the lack of Comic Talk and (new) Black Doom Awards, this episode didn’t disappoint. (And I’m not just saying that because I won something. Maybe.)

28. blaster says:

BTW, Can someone give me the link of the poll you’re talking about? The one 2P START live won by landslide?

29. Heh, almost dropped my flat iron when I heard my podcast call got a knubby award. Good times.

30. freeplay says:

just listened, surprised Ray pronounced my name right.

31. Mkava says:

Great podcast guys. Congrats on all your success, certainly deserve it. Seems it was a good choice to start reading this comic when it first started. Keep up the great work. =)

And yes, please have some new blood on the show once and awhile. You two are fun to listen to, don’t get me wrong, but more opinions makes more fun?

As for shirts, I’m a fan of the Q*bert one the most, but I do have a soft spot in my heart for that cursing fluffball.

32. Talduras says:

Okay, finally listened to the full podcast. They weren’t kidding… those guys from The Lame Show really are like your evil twins! Ha ha! On that note, that was actually the best part of the show. 2Pstart + The Lame Show = Random pot of funnies!

Anyway, got something I’d like to suggest adding to the podcast, which should be easy to fit in. I know one (or both) of you guys suggested that certain game companies release soundtrack CDs of their music. As most people may know, there are a high number of games that already do have soundtrack CDs released, but practically any music from Japan ends up being super, ultra, mega expensive.

However, I found out that some of the soundtracks manage to get put on the iTunes store for relatively reasonable prices. For example, the first two albums by The Black Mages, which does Final Fantasy music remixes and was formed by Nobuo Uematsu himself, sells for ~$45 each in CD form on Amazon.com currently. The same two albums cost $10 each on iTunes store!

Anyway, here’s the plan I have. Somewhere on iTunes store, I stumbled across a link that lets you submit music requests to Apple. Seeing as how they’ve already got Final Fantasy albums ranging from 1 to 11 (they don’t have XII on there as of yet), they clearly don’t seem to be opposed to putting import albums on there. Heck, they even have the Mother 3 soundtrack on there, a game which even much of the hardcore gaming populous hasn’t heard of.

So the suggestion runs like this. Similar to musical misfits, each week (perhaps with some off-weeks) an album and/or song will be mentioned on the show that all of the podcast users can storm the iTunes music request page with (and perhaps some other music download services, if any of you guys know of any) in hopes that a video game related album that once was only available to the most rich among us can finally be more easily available to all of us, and perhaps even spread the word to both US music distributors and even game developers from Japan to Europe that we, the video game community, love great video game music and would be willing to purchase said music.

…Dang, that was a long post!

By the way, the categories on iTunes store seem to need a bit of organizing. You can find the Final Fantasy albums through a search, but trying to narrow it down by category or even author manually though drop-down lists doesn’t seem to work most of the time. Seems most of the soundtracks I can find through category search methods are from U.S. game publishers (particularly Blizzard Entertainment games).

• Talduras says:

Just to clarify, by “adding to the podcast” I mean future episodes, of course. πŸ˜‰

33. Dr. Disaster says:

Although I’m not sure if you can rise from your grave for the podcast, I thought I’d rise from my comfy coffin filled with maggots and worms to congratulate you guys on 100 episodes. While a lot of podcast succumb to “pod-fade” 15 episodes in, 2P Start Live managed to reach triple digits and still remain interesting and enjoyable to listen to. This is an amazing achievement for any podcast and you guys should feel especially proud.

I’ve been reading the comic #74 and managed to listen to all the podcast episodes over the summer. They both keep on getting better and better and I hope you guys keep making them both for years to come. Or until one of you dies. Which ever comes first.

And congratulations on the Knubby Award! Doesn’t it feel good to be award winning?

34. TheNinjaMouse says:

Congratulations, guys! That was a great 100th podcast and well worth the wait. I heartily agree with your choices for best comic for the past season, but for best podcast moment, I might have picked the Internet Police over the anti-Tim ad. The Police bit probably made me laugh more than anything I’ve listened to in a long time.

As for shirts, I’m probably most likely to buy the Raybob Industries one, though I’m also quite fond of the Q*Bert and Pixel Vision designs.

35. Supersonic24 says:

I like the Q*Bert, Megaman, and Ray and Tim silhouette shirts most. The only problem is, they’re $20 each, which honestly is too much, so I don’t think I’ll get any.

36. Chocolate_bob says:

A Dancing with the Stars shirt would be sweet.

37. The podcast was hilarious, especially the voice-changed into girls dramatic reading and Sonic’s REAL POWER OF TEAMWORK!! I also just got Skype and I gotta think up a question for the next podcast…
And I thought i’d drop this little musical misfit:.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdLS5ByZ7Y8 (couldn’t get the link tag to work) It reminds me of Mega Man songs.

38. freeplay says:

I’d like the raybob industries shirt to be added. And when do i get my knubby award? Also, do i get to choose the shirt, or do i just email you my address and you send me a random shirt or something like that?

39. As for shirts, I like the raybob industries, dancing with the stars and q*bert.

Great podcast guys and here’s to 100 more :3

40. roadjcat says:

Oh, I guess I never weighed in on the shirt thing. I like the Tim and Ray outline one. πŸ™‚

• roadjcat says:

Also since it’s the 100th podcast.

Podcast #52, a quote from myself.

“I think I’m going to try to mention Rouge in every podcast comment from now on…we’ll see how that goes.

I think it went pretty well. XD

41. Kyle H. says:

Well guys, I think it’s finally time for me to pop my 2P Start cherry, er, come out of my 2P Start closet, er, Rise From My Grave!

Hey guys, I just have to say I really enjoy both the comic and the podcasts. And podcast 100 was especially epic. I’ve been listening to the podcast for quite some time and reading the comic even longer. And while I’ve read through the entire archive of 2P Start comics, I don’t have the stamina of some of the more die hard fans to listen to every podcast.

If I recall correctly, Ray lives in Oregon, and if so I just have to say “Fellow Oregonians… unite!” (If he doesn’t, I just made a fool of myself).

Keep up the fantastic work Tim and Ray and now I can get to commenting without remembering I still have to rise from my grave.

42. Keja says:

As a fan of Ray’s music, I would like the Pixel vision shirt the most, but only if it’s free. Merchandise shouldn’t cost more thsn the album. In fact, it should cost less, so could you kindly pay me for taking one of those shirts off your hands?

43. Kvb says:

Did the podcast format just change, or is that just me?

I can’t see the slides anymore, and I can now select segments I want to jump to.
Okay, the latter is pretty neat, but I do miss those slides.

44. 285 says:

If I had some money that does not have planned use I would buy the Megaman shirt

I do not mean to cause offense to Eddie here or indeed any Americans, but seriously, the American dialect is one full of incorrect punctuations, throughout the podcasts several time I have had to use the urban dictionary in order to understand the show, but if you criticise anybody for something you are flawed upon yourself with such vigour that Eddie did in this podcast than you are no more than a hypocrite. A figure which is generally looked down upon for their snootiness and general unlikability. I’m not saying that you are wrong to speak with an accent, however don’t have the sheer ignorance to viciously discriminate against those have a perfectly viable right to pronounce words the way you see fit without actually saying the wrong thing, as abbreviations were made to help people, not to have them effectively bullied, I admit I am a bit of a grammar bully, but I try to handle it in a dignified way, and if I ever drop as low as that then I will stop in my tracks. Again, I mean to cause no offence to anybody, and please do not take this the wrong way, I am overreacting but I was rather take aback by the comment

Other than that NPG

45. pcargill says:

funniest podcast yet, not even tim’s and noah’s monotonous voices could make me the least bit distracted

46. racefreak265 says:

Congats on getting to podcast 100! I love every single one of them!

– Is there a link to the list that Mark wrote about the 100 reasons he’s the best fan? Did I just miss it or was it mot posted?
-Ah, I remember that Charles Matiney (sp?) segment. That was from the last knubby awards, right?
-I always meant to comment that Ray sounds like Seinfeld at times. But now that you mention it……
-Im not a big fan of the new t-shirts, but my favorite is the Q*bert one. I always meant to get a “This is how I roll” shirt, but where I live, it would be weird to wear.

Again, nice podcast, keep it up!

• CKcheeseboy says:

-yeah, just scroll up and it’s the 4th picture in the “Links” section
-just fyi, it’s “Martinet”

47. TheREALdeal says:

What? I don’t get to rise from my grave???????

• Apkinesis says:

Seems in your “Grave Rising” post, you mentioned that you found the site a week prior? (That’s pretty amazing, listening to all those Podcasts in just one week!)

Someone can correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe Grave Rising is for those who’ve been visiting the site for a good while and finally posted a comment after all that time, and not so much for those who are simply new to visiting the site. For example, I’d been reading and listening for about half a year (if I remember right) before posting anything, and even then I was a bit skeptic if that might be considered Grave Rising, since it wasn’t nearly as long as most other Risers.

But in any case, welcome 2P START!, home of the best webcomic and Podcast the entire Internet has to offer πŸ™‚

• CKcheeseboy says:

Well, the origins of Grave Rising came from the Suggestion Box. More weeks than not, Ray would pick a comment saying something along the lines of “Hey, found the site, love the comics”, etc. etc., and people eventually got tired of that. They created the “Rise From Your Grave” segment to cover those types of comments and leave Suggestion Box for the rest. There wasn’t really a stipulation as to why they were first time commenters, although I think over time it did start to lean more towards those who lurked for a while before commenting.

48. Dry Bones says:

Congrats on Number 100! You guys continue to bring the laughs.
Eddie’s impression of Mario cracked me up! That was perfect! The conversation with Sonic was pretty funny, as well. As always, great work.

49. Sorry that the Remix sounded more like Jurassic Park than E.T. My bad!

50. darklink123 says:

You probably* don’t remember me, but I’d just like to say, once again, congratulations! Hopefully 2P Start will live for another 100 Lives.

*read:hopefully

51. Dry Bones says:

Hey Tim and Ray, I don’t recall thanking you guys yet for the 2P START t-shirt awarded at Knubby 2009, so… belated thanks! I was wearing it walking through my dorm today, and along the way someone pointed at it saying “Oh hey, I like that comic,” and we had a brief conversation about how cool 2P START is (I would’ve chatted some more if I wasn’t in a hurry at the time). It also seems he doesn’t comment on the site, so I guess he’s dwelling in a grave for the time being. It was kind of cool running into an unrisen in person πŸ™‚

Hm, 99 comments on Podcast #100 right now; I’m very tempted to steal comment #100… No, I’ll resist it, lest I later fall into that group who thinks getting “FIRST” on a YouTube video is the most awesome thing in the world.
