Can’t wait to hear the official chicken geab.

  2. TheLupineOne says:

    TheLupineOne has
    successfully got his Musical Misfit

(Sonic the Hedgehog Act Clear music plays)

  3. gelatin skeleton says:

Hey guys, Im tired of lurking in the shadows, so I’ve decided to buy get some AA batteries for my flashlight and rise from my grave!

  4. Teengamer says:

Great show guys, it’s soothing to hear your voices this week. ๐Ÿ™‚
Good luck finding a new gf Ray! Tim, I’m looking forward to seeing that series ๐Ÿ˜‰
I completely agree with the iPad, and those SFX were hilarious! ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hear you guys next week!

    -TG-

  5. Grandpalove says:

    “How dare you?”
That was Tim’s overused SFX for today. He even used it on me! I’m sorry I liked Black Doom! He was just so… I mean he was… well… I don’t know… I guess he was cool… for some reason… Anyway, I’m just not patient enough to wait to properly rise from my hole in the ground. Oh well.

  6. D3vin says:

Since Ray doesn’t have a girlfriend, can we have the Wednesday comic back?
How dare you Tim, I helped made you the “President of the United Gamers” with my witty videos for cripes’ sake! I suggest we impeach him and have Black Doom run the show.
That one loon sound clip I actually heard in real life since I live in Montana and they occasionally come here.

    • mocliamtoh says:

I knew about the loon as well. I think part of it is that I see them all the time on my money.
A Canadian one dollar coin is called a loonie for a reason after all.

  7. Highwater Trousers says:

Thanks for the laughs guys! Definitely a hilarious podcast this week! Another overused SFX that always bugged me is the crowd cheering, which appears in practically every situation that requires cheering. Also, might want to be careful about making a chickens in space game. Someone already got to that and made some sequels. (I also used to own a collection of PC games and one of the games featured Biblical chickens in space.) As for sequels that do what the first game did not, just remember that Sonic Team always follows this procedure of adding more characters/features/etc…

For the record, if someone were to come up to me and ask who I’m supporting (Conan or Jay), I’d be more than happy to reply “Johnny!” and get smacked over the head. Great podcast guys and looking foward to your planned “specials!”

    • Ray says:

I absolutely agree about the crowd cheering sfx. I know exactly which one you’re talking about. Unfortunately, I think it’s in Brawl.

      • Highwater Trousers says:

It seems that the crowd cheering SFX shows up everywhere, but disappears the moment I look for it… Besides overused SFX, ever notice voice actors and actors who show up everywhere? Just another thing that I point out and end up annoying everyone else.

  8. Gregjr94 says:

I personally was disappointed we I didn’t hear the Wilheilm(?) scream. If anyone would mind posting a link, I’m sure everyone would recognize it. If not, Tim will say, “How dare you.”

  9. MrDeku says:

Microsoft canโ€™t seem to get much right when it comes to the game room, itโ€™s a shame because Iโ€™m one in probably the minority of Live users who would like to play some of the older games and itโ€™s just becoming more hassle than itโ€™s worth. From the way theyโ€™ve been acting lately I wouldnโ€™t be surprised if a future black doom award went to a press release of โ€œWe decided to remove the arcade games that have previously been purchased to enable more flexibility to consumers who can then decide which kind of games they want for their specific game room setupโ€.

    Grave risen.

  10. roadjcat says:

    1. Didn’t really care for the remix this time, it changed a bit too much I thought.
    2. I like the idea of the worst comic ever.
    3. And I still think the chickens should be cuccos.
    4. I thought the random comment thing was kinda funny. XD
    5. I like that wind sound effect for some reason though.
    6. I immediately thought of Starcraft when I heard that sound effect.
    7. I’m surprised the generic “night time, owls” sound effect wasn’t on there.
    8. EIEIO thing still funny.
    9. I don’t watch late night tv except for SNL (if that even really counts). But Conan gets points for working with Jim Gaffigan a lot. XD
    10. “People” thing still funny as well.
    11. Rouge

  11. igorpwnweed says:

Ugh. Leno? Really? He Pretty much says a headline and then says Lindsay Lohan is drunk. Conan actually takes things that ARE funny, even if they are fictitious. Regardless, I’m not too bitter because I know that FOX will pick up his show, and through this I discovered that Kimmel is actually pretty funny too. FYI I watched it all on Hulu. Does that count as watching it, or am I one of those “PEOPLE!?”

  12. talduras says:

    1. Between 1:38-1:44… wow. Really creepy, Ray. O_o

    2. Admittedly, tablet computers are something I don’t see myself being interested in either, unless it makes typing stuff MUCH easier.

    3. Need to disagree, eh? That would spice things up, much like how “_____ & Ebert” was always better when they argued.

    4. “Yet another original title from Tim, ‘Go Fish’….” Wahaha! The look I imagine on your face is priceless! You could probably do a good comic about your podcasts. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    5. Heh heh. Somehow when I saw Elah’s comment I knew it’d be a comment of the week. It’s too bad you didn’t let Tim do his Random Comment, Ray. Thanks to you, Tim didn’t get to give ANY comment of the week! How dare you…

    6. Off-topic segment is official awesome! Keep them coming. By the way, I’ve heard bird noises that are FAR more common than the one you showcased. Namely, I’m thinking of the bird sound found in the Grass Theme for Heroes of Might and Magic 2. Where else it was used I can’t think of at the moment.

    7. Woo! I love Leno’s Headlines! Of course, I haven’t watched Leno for more than half a decade… um… wait, how did a Black Doom Award about Sega turn into a talk about late night talk shows?

And since I mentioned Heroes of Might & Magic 2, I’m going to drop a Musical Misfit suggestion for one of its tracks here: Muddy Land Theme. Uh… I have no idea whether or not that’s the official name. I just call it the Dirt Theme, because it plays everytime you move a character to dirt. Given the color, it looks like fertile topsoil, so I question why it has no grass. *shrug* Either way, I loved a lot of the music from that game, STILL love a lot of the music from that game, and find it a shame that the series has mostly been a word-of-mouth game series… and then Ubisoft comes along, picks up the rights to it, and practically kills it (in my eyes) with the release of a 5th game. Almost makes me wish it died a dignified death. -_-

  13. TriforceBun says:

Nice job guys! I’d be happy to have you two handle a guest comic in the coming weeks–just shoot me an email when you want to put one up.

As far as overused sound effects go, I’ve got to mention the stock “crowd gasp” sound. It’s played SO OFTEN in movie trailers that I don’t even know where to begin. Sadly, I can’t seem to find it online but if you heard it, you’d recognize it.

Gotta love the loon though. “Ooo-wooooo! Puuwadlahwuu.”

  14. mocliamtoh says:

Nice podcast guys. Tim, what you have to do is not mention that you are choosing a random comment until you read it. That way Ray can’t interrupt you, and if he wants to cut it out, it’s more editing for him :P.

I know you like choosing remixes for the podcast, but I found a Banjo-Kazooie medley that is a lot of fun to listen to, if not the best thing out there. I think it’d be a nice share (hence my sharing it). The only issue with the link is that youtube distorts the sound a bit. Banjo-Kazooie Medley

  15. TheLupineOne says:

OK, finally getting round to listening to the Podcast.

    1. Tim with the News should become a regular feature! Great use of the Brain Training music!
    2. Ray has the right point: with an iPhone HOME screen, the iPad is, for me, a Glorified iPhone.
    3. Worst webcomic ever made? Sounds like a good idea for April Fool… as Tim says: “MWUAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
    4. Who’s that saying “GAME OVER!” in “Chicken Grab in Space”?
    5. Random comment sounds like a disaster…
    6. Off Topic was a lot better this time! I know where I’ve heard #1 Overused Sound Effect: it’s the “Updating Online Ranking” sound on Katamari Forever on the PS3!
    7. Black Doom: Nomination for next week’s Black Doom: Zone40 + Sega Mega Drive = Oh, brother. Now available from CVS pharmacies nationwide.
    8. People!
    9. Oh brother… you pronounced my name wrong AGAIN! It’s not “The Lu-PINE One”, it’s “The LU-pine One”. Anyway, I got my Musical Misfit! I’m glad I made Ray and Tim laugh with this being my “Citizen Kane of Video Game Music”. What does everyone think? Is it up there with Solstice and Monty on the Run?
    10. Best Out-take ever, and not just because my Musical Misfit is still playing. “1P START!”. Could “Sky Tower” become as regular a music as “Super Magnetic Neo” was?
    11. BRAWL OWL: O RLY?
    12. This podcast is 38:55, not 28:15

  16. Kvb says:

Oh wow. You blew my mind with the Loon one, Ray.
I’ve realized many time that I’d heard the sound before. I’d just never realized on how many separate occasions I’ve come to that conclusion.

Now that it’s been a while since my last Musical Misfit suggestion, I’ve managed to gather a few good ones again.
This one’s called “Ice Edge”, it from Viewtiful Joe 2.

  17. Apkinesis says:

Nice Podcast; I could definitely get used to these new segments! Chicken Grab in Space was awesome. I liked the Remix, though Musical Misfits was lacking some Touhou (one of these days it’ll earn your pick, Ray :P)

A sound effect I’m surprised wasn’t on the list was the child laughter heard in the intro of Diddy Kong Racing (when the Rare logo shows up and spins), but that loon definitely earned first place (we really need to hear that thing on Spin-and-Say).

    • TheLupineOne says:

Apkinesis… whenever I read your comments I imagine your voice to be that of Tim and Ray doing Hoshi and Hikari.

      And it’s not Spin-and-say, it’s See ‘n Say.

      • MiMGodfather says:

Maybe he was playing Homestar Runner when he was writing that comment? ๐Ÿ˜‰

      • Apkinesis says:

Despite not actually having that awesome pitch-shifted voice, I’ll take that as a complement for remembering their names ๐Ÿ˜› “HURRY UP HOSHI.”

See ‘n Say? Is that what the twelve-year-olds are calling it nowadays? But yeah, I actually was thinking of that HSR version when I typed it ๐Ÿ™‚

      • talduras says:

Just reading about the pop culture references mentioned in the last paragraph of this article makes me laugh. “Shazoo!” Hahaha! Too bad they didn’t mention the Homestar Runner version.

  18. Twillightlucario says:

    I can’t beleave mine was the Random Comment of the Week! And then Ray takes it away! Why do you hate me Ray! WHYYYYYY! ;-;

I would acctually like one of the Convertible Tablets. One of my favorite hobbies is Writing, but I just can’t seem to keep the stuff I need to write at hand. I can’t cary a notebook around because my little sisters take any paper they can get and draw all over it, even if it already has writing on it, and my computer is just a little to big to cary around with me. But the price is a way to high for something I’m just going to write with.

I can’t wait to see the worst comic ever! I’ll bet it’s so terible, that it’s awesome! And mean paradies are almost always funny.

I am so glad some one else sees the stupid prices on ringtones! I was begining to think I was the only one to notice that! None of my friends even thought about it before I pointed it out.

    • talduras says:

Indeed, it’s saddening that it ended so abruptly.

On the plus side, since Random Comments didn’t become a segment, it means I won’t have to worry about being the target of an unfortunate random comment pick where I get mocked so hard that I would be forced to leave 2PStart! and become a drifter… although, that would help me fullfil my life-long dream of looking like Snake Plissken,

      • Twillightlucario says:

XD True, that would be bad. I do kinda like the idea of Random Comment of the week solely for the “Watch what you say” factor. You’d never know what they might pick. O.O

      • talduras says:

That, and it’d give Tim & Ray a catalyst for some extra stuff to say that would likely end up being comedic gold. =D

  19. The Gastronomic Gamer says:

I just sent this link to Ray, but I think you all need to see it.
    http://kotaku.com/5462384/fan-pleading-got-nights-into-sonic–sega-all+star-racing

  20. Supersonic24 says:

Nice show, that’s all I can really think of saying. I hope Tim picks this as his random comment.

  21. TheLupineOne says:

If you DO bring back Old Segments, bring back “Trivia for You” and “Trivia for Two, Please” please!

“Mmm, it DOES go well with the chicken.”

  22. Supersonic24 says:

Please keep the chicken grab though. I came during the election episodes and didn’t know about it until now, it was hilarious!

  23. Thanks for the pick me up through work!

  24. I rather hate to double comment, but I was wondering if Tim and Ray have seen this yet:

  25. turtleboats01 says:

hey guys, I’ve been following you for a while, have read through the archives twice, and am working my way through the podcasts. I love the echochrome q-bert comic, its been my wallpaper for a while. I thought it was about time to rise from my grave. Sound like you took every one of those SFX from the Myst series ๐Ÿ™‚

  26. Retl says:

Haven’t watched the podcast yet, and probably won’t be able to give a better comment for a little while as my internet connection at home has been turned off, but I just wanted to say that the broken glass image that goes with this podcast’s episode IS DISTURBING TO ME. It freaks me out more than how the Yoshis in Super Mario Sunshine totally disintegrate in water. (And oh geez, did I have nightmares about that. Still makes me cringe a little.)

Anywho, I’m really looking forward to this episode ๐Ÿ˜€ Can’t wait to get this thing onto my MP3 player and ready to go!

  27. C.Olimar788 says:

Have I mentioned that I absolutely love the little throwbacks to past podcasts? Because I do, and they are amazing. The loon part was just… XD

And I’m sorry to hear about your breakup, Ray! D:

  28. GMaster7 says:

Hey Ray – I don’t know if you’ve seen this yet, but this is what I woke up to this morning. Project Needlemouse is officially Sonic 4: Episode 1, and it’ll be a downloadable title for XBLA, PSN, and WiiWare.. oh, and it’ll obviously (by the title) be episodic. Here’s the news story, complete with a teaser trailer and an interview, courtesy of GameSpot. I would have linked another site instead, but the other ones I found mistakenly claimed that Sonic would be motion-controlled, so I’m not posting those ones (I didn’t want to scare you) – what the interview really said was that there would be a few motion-controlled parts in the PS3 and Wii versions. Presumably not a large part, since this is on 360 too. Check it out:

  29. koollizard says:

Im not entirely sure on how you do the remix’s i think you said somtimes you do fan recomended ones but if you do i have one

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jOKqd7JVq4c

the download link is in the information bar

  30. Retl says:

I still think the image up above is disturbing. :B

The CHICKEN GRAB IN SPACE! segment gave me a great laugh while bringing a smile to my face, and I adored the Yoshi’s Story music that played during Tim’s Random Comment of the Week segment. It made that smile stay on my face and stick with me as I went on with the rest of my day.

One of my favorite things about these podcasts is Ray’s choice of music for introducing and backing segments. It’s always fun to see if I can recognize which game the songs came from.

  31. jacob says:

will you (ray&tim) plz be my friend on xbl? my tag is EarnestBlade. thx

  32. cramill says:

I agree with the loon sound effect overuse. Its ridiculous. Its used in so movies/tv shows and in places where loons don’t even live!

  33. koollizard says:

I actualy thik shadow the hedgehog was a fun game when i was 10 and i still would minus black doom vectors anoying voice less team ups and more eggman murder

  34. Laelaps says:

Guys! Did you see that – Denny’s ripped you off with their superbowl commercial – they had a flippin CHICKEN in SPACE and no sound (as opposed to thirty other chickens screaming) – total ripoff of Crazy chicken grab in Space.

  35. mrpineapplehead says:

wait wait wait? i was on this podcast? wow i don’t believe it!

anyway keep up the good work
