Funny video I thought related. Profanity is used.

  2. Batty1580 says:

Wow its been a while since I commented, anyone miss me? THought not.

PS3 took it way too far with the new remote, I might have to reconsider my saved up money now. ๐Ÿ™

  3. TheLupineOne says:

    1. Intro: First thought it was Tecmo Super Bowl, but that was: “Ready, Down, Hut! Hut! Hut!” It’s Fighters Megamix. Bring it back! Any excuse to bring back Bark the Polar Bear…
    2. I’m excited for PlayStation Move. LittleBigPlanet excercised some great ideas, and word is ModNation Racers
    3. I laughed at “Post Man”.
    4. Excellent Remix find! If there’s a Remix of the year Knubby awards, this could be it!
    5. Yes, refer to Lady Gaga. It always comes back to Lady Gaga.
    6. “PEOPLE!” Is that “PEOPLE!” music from Sonic Adventure when you’re battling Robotnik? Because it sounds like it.
    7. Always like a Ray the Flying Squirrel reference!

  4. Doopliss says:

Hey Paper Mario 2 is my favourite game! Ever. Promise. Best game. (whistle).

    • JohnW says:

It’s my favourite game ever, too! (Paper Mario 1 was so boring, IMO.) That’s why I submitted the song. I listen to the full song every time I boot up the game. It makes me sad how it’s not as well known as the Zelda theme for example. Ray’s comment and the one’s here that mention the song prove how good it is. So, all of you out there, play Paper Mario Thousand Year Door, not it’s crap sequel!

      • KickButtToaster says:

Man, I am exactly the same way! I listened the dinosaurs outta this theme song. It is severely underrated and indeed an “Musical Misfit.”

  5. Highwater Trousers says:

Great to have you guys back! Hope you had a great birthday Ray! And Mrs. Harding had surgery? I hope everything’s okay and that she feels better. Out of curiosity, there’s a gap during the Comic Talk about Tim’s Take. The dialogue stops and only the backround music plays. Was this intentional or accidental? Just curious.

    1. Dualshock controller and motion. I actually love the dualshock controller, but I do cringe when looking at the new Playstation Move. Although come on, Heavy Rain has made some great usage of the motion control. Shake the controller to brush your teeth, open a jammed door, and fight off an attacker… Otherwise you die.

    2. Hypothetical situation: Megaman defeats Conan O’Brien and receives The Tonight Show. He then loses it as Jay Leno takes it back six screens later.

    3. Wow! A Dark Cloud remix! Wait a minute… Does that mean I was close in suggesting a Dark Cloud 2 musical misfit a while back? Or was I firing blindly at a giant wheel of cheese using nothing more than pea shooter that shoots peas?

    4. Hey Ray. If you’re flying out, what are the odds that I can meet you and Tim? Please? Pretty please? I can make guacamole! Please?!!

    5. On the subject of rap music. It’s forced on me already and I grow weary of every single song sounding the same. On a related note, did anyone watch The Grammys? I swear, they had to censor The Black Eyed Peas for almost 10 straight seconds. They should have just substituted lyrics and sang the alphabet. “Tonight’s gonna’ be a good night. A, B, C, D, E, F, G…”

    6. Even worse DLC. I mentioned it on the forums, but White Knight Chronicles asks for $5 to recustomize your avatar/custom character. However, I was told you can only use the DLC on one character. Another $5 for a second character and so on. Um, shouldn’t that have been in the game in the first place?

Well, fun podcast guys. And sorry for a rather long post here.

  6. TheLupineOne says:

Ooh, out Thursday is the LittleBigPlanet Sonic Costume Kit, complete with Stickers taken straight out of 1991. There’s even a Robotnik Sackboy with a little carboard EggMobile! Shame about the Werehog…

  7. Apkinesis says:

Despite being a blatant rip-off of the Wii Remote, I do like the design of the Move (specifically the button placements, lack of connecting wire, and using visual cues rather than infrared for detecting location). It’s kind of like Sony took Nintendo’s idea and made it better, which I’m not sure is a good or bad thing.

Brilliant Arnold impression Ray ๐Ÿ˜€ Massive lawls there. (I think the movie containing that quote was Collateral Damage?)

That Game Man idea sounded pretty awesome actually, though it’s understandable how it wouldn’t really work in comic/text form. But either way, I’m still glad you went with the Heart Man idea; loved it for all the reasons Tim mentioned.

Now that you mention it, I do wonder why they haven’t streamlined the battle animation and text better in recent Pokemon games. And ironic that you should mention Pokemon comics (if you remember my email, Ray) ๐Ÿ˜›

Much agreed with the clang noises, whistles, and random lyrics. Not much more to say about that.

I knew that song would make it into Musical Misfits this week; usually I avoid viewing this page before listening (so that I can wait with anticipation while listening to find out whether my suggestion was picked), but there was no contest with that song ๐Ÿ˜› Nice choice.

  8. igorpwnweed says:

Okay, I want the bonus story as a separate mp3 for my iPod.

  9. Sir Bladington XIII says:

    – Great improv Tim. Drop it like it’s peanut butter should totally be a new song. Would be awesome. ๐Ÿ˜€

    – You HAVE to announce what happens in Pokemon, children play it. You have to explain EVERY little detail. D:

    – Epic stereotypes FTW.

    – ANOTHER motion control? Sheesh, at least Natal was a bit different.

-Speaking of Guitar Hero, aren’t they making Guitar Hero 6 already, or am I just thinking of another game.

    – 8-bit Obama? Bonus comic nao. ๐Ÿ˜›

    – I don’t think I’ve heard that song before. Like you, I hate most music others actually think is great.

    – No… you need to party every MONTH Ray. Geez, you’re not “with the times.”

    – I could have sworn it was actually an achievement, not a cheat. It’s still stupid though. Also, it’s not Sega, it’s mostly Sumo, just to be pedantic.

    – I remember that song. Wasn’t it in all the trailers for PM2? (Also, I prefer Paper Mario 1’s save file select theme.)

    – Tim, you’re maniacal. I used to think you were cool. D:
We better drop you like… uh… that is to say… oh never mind.

  10. Dracfang says:

Hey Ray, hope this dosen’t make next weeks “Creepy Comment” but do you play PVK II? I while back I was playing and there was this guy who was voice chatting who sounded exactly like you. So, do you play or do you have a… Dopleganger!!!

  11. roadjcat says:

    1. I’ve never really had much of problem with Pokemon games. They’ve always been similar, but that means that I know what I’m getting into each time. The only thing was a couple days ago when I had a level 6 Spearow against a Gengar. My spearow did piddly damage and Gengar had apparently no moves that could hurt my spearow. I had to turn the game off.

    2. I actually saw the punchline in the Mega Man comic coming I think, but I still thought it was funny.

    3. And y’know what? Pokemon can follow you in HeartGold and SoulSilver, so that’s more animation for them. ๐Ÿ˜› And the PokeWalker too.

    4. And I’ve, and apparently luckily, avoided that song.

    5. Rouge

  12. james says:

Nice podcast. Recently started listening to these(while playing other flash games) and found them entertaining.

By the way, Tim, why do you sound so depressed in the beginning of a podcast, as if you’re sad that you’re doing a new podcast?
    “*sigh* and he is……ray.”

“drop it like it’s peanut butter” should be your new catch phrase.

  13. Bobipine says:

I am deeply ashamed of the quality of my comments after hearing the epic comment….

On that.. you guys ain’t that old, kids these days truly seems to deserve the reputation they have, rap and such songs are only good if it’s actually a parody of an original rap/pop etc, and I prefer a cord for my controllers over wireless as much as I can. (Already lost in Brawl because batteries died… right above the broken bridge of Eldin, where I fell to my doom twice before finding spare batteries)

  14. freeplay says:

    1: I’ve got a feeling = fail
    2: microsoft = fail
    3:pokemon = fail
    4:playstation move = fail
5: health care bill = fail
    6: 2pstart + politics = fail
    7: ray = win
    8: tim = monotone
    9: nintendo = win
10: this comment is way more boring than it appeared in my head.

  15. The Gastronomic Gamer says:

I just burst out laughing when you said, ” ‘PEOPLE’ “.

It’s true what you said before. The whole podcast could be made of 50% past podcasts and be just as good. Maybe you should make a song like Hideki Naganuma out of your own sound clips that are repeated in different sequences and sometimes auto-tuned differently.

Heck, I’d trade that for a 2 comics.

    • talduras says:

” ‘PEOPLE’ ” also makes me laugh instantly. It’s like 2PStart’s version of the joke that a comedian uses when they’re in trouble… except that there’s no live audience for 2PStart, and this is always spontaneous now.

  16. talduras says:

    1. Ray, did you just completely thrash Final Fantasy 7, one of the most revered games in the history of games, in no less than one sentence?! …I love you.

    (egh, that sounded kinda creepy).

    2. Ray, did you just completely bash ultra-repetitive mainstream music that contain mind-numbingly stupefying lyrics?! …I love you.

(okay, now I’ve hit creepiness critical mass O_o ).

    3. By the way, despite the lack of stuff to comment on, this is the funniest podcast in a while for me. And yes, your improv skills ARE sharpened to a razor edge!

    4. The earlier commenter was right! You do do a good old man voice, old man Tim! ๐Ÿ˜€

On another note, I see Black Doom! This is a fail idea if ever there was one. Paying money for a DEMO??? I’d be better off waiting until the game went on sale for insanely low prices, like the time that I got Batman Arkham Asylum for $12.50 on a downloadable service.

Sad thing is, as fail as that is, I can see people actually paying for a demo. -_-

  17. Teengamer says:

THANK you Ray for playing the title screen from TTYD. It is the one song that never gets old in my mp3 (that and the rogueport theme). I’m glad you chose it. ๐Ÿ™‚ Such a great game, right?

  18. BadnikHunter says:

You know, if Sony decided “Let’s rip off the wii!” they could have AT LEAST made it look different. The controllers look incredibly alike! “WOW, A PING PONG BALL, NO ONE WILL NOTICE!”

    Rant over.

    • mkava says:

Well, at least the rest of the controller looks like a Play Station controller.

And yes, it’s a rip off. Welcome to the tech industry. As a programmer, anything you can steal to save you time and effort is worthwhile as long as it can do what you want. Same idea here. They wanted motion control and the controller-style (the wand and additional) work really well for it. At least the ball is a decent idea, and it uses their previous tech.

Either way, don’t dump on it yet. Hell, it might actually be worth a damn. =D

      • mkava says:

Oh, and at least its not as pathetic as NATAL. Motion sensitive controllers like the Wiimote and the future PS Move get you moving around like an idiot most of the time. But at least they don’t get you standing all the way up, jumping around like an idiot and show how truly uncoordinated you are.

  19. MiMGodfather says:

HA! That was awesome! I honestly didn’t expect my comment to be brought up, let alone have its own full-blown reading due to its size. I’m so glad you guys enjoyed it, and the reading was truly epic (and made me crack up numerous times)! I really wish I could have gone back and edited some of my grammar though…those little things bug me ๐Ÿ™‚

Truth be told, I wrote the entire comment on my lunch break at work (just like this one) before submitting it that night. There were even parts I left out, though that’s probably for the best. The Director’s Cut would include cut scenes involving Tim going back in time to stop himself from causing Ray’s crash, only to return to the present and have nothing changed ร  la the Gargoyles animated series rules of time travel.

Great podcast this week guys, and I’m totally with you on the Off Topic….topic. That song (and others like it) drive me insane. Kinda catchy the first time it comes on the radio…kinda…but anymore just gives me another reason to keep my cds or iPod playing constantly while driving.

  20. mrpineapplehead says:

another great episode guys but i need to say something when going onto then extras then onto ray’s music i saw the 2p start music collectibles and i was like ‘yay now i can the 2p start live theme!’ but guess what? it was not there,i mean like what why? why have my favorite song from 2p start live not on there unless theirs a good explication i will be annoyed…

and that was a episode of what really annoys me. mrpineapplehead out!

  21. JohnW says:

As for the rest of the Podcast…

I think it was worth the two week wait. It was flawless! The slightly longer length was perfect for my walks. But I feel that much was edited out.

  22. JohnW says:

BTW, what’s your opinion on the DS 3D or the 3DS?

  23. mrpineapplehead says:

sorry just saw i flaw for the musical misfit song it is actually the file select theme from paper mario:TTYD just to ley you know

    • JohnW says:

Acctualy, it’s both. The song moves over to file choice as well. It’s played on both.

      • mrpineapplehead says:

oh i see what you mean now and thanks for getting a new song stuck in my head lol ๐Ÿ˜€

  24. Legend of Mii says:

I heard the podcast, and I immediately remembered this song. It’ll probably just annoy Ray though. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Ray says:

So hilarious… oh my gosh… it was like a Rick Roll that just kept snowballing in hilarity.

      Wow… All those poor kids….

    • mkava says:

And here I thought the one that the Peas did was bad enough. The rant about the horribly-performed song was bad enough.. but this parody just makes me cringe. >.>

    • Dry Bones says:

As much as I don’t like that song, I have to hand it to the teachers (or whoever put together the video). They’re making an effort to get the kids to read by connecting with them through the (terrible) music that they enjoy.

  25. Andrew says:

Another great podcast. I hate your podcast player. Stupid podango word that sneaks onto the timeline just when you are trying to click and navigates you away from the page.

  26. blaster says:

Well… I have to speak for pokemon this time… Lots of my friend loved that.

Sprite problem: Seriously, it’s a RPG game on a handheld not a console. I couldn’t think of a better way to do all the images. If you want 3D model, go get Pokemon batle Revolution for the Wii… But that game wouldn’t be fun without games on DS.

Some of my friends are so enthusiastic that they raise the best team. They chose what pokemon they use, what move they learn, their EVs and IVs… they chose everything to become the pokemon master. And four-move limit, can put the trainer’s strategy to the test.

Nintendo seems to be not wanting to make a pokemon RPG for consoles. Everything would have been solved if they do that.

  27. That one person that can't think of a witty nickname says:

Well guys, time to… riiiiise from my graaaaaave. I was going to wait till next week to do so (get it? because it was the week before Easter? rise from your grave? funny stuff… funny stuff…), but this was the best podcast yet. This was the hardest I ever laughed at something you guys did. Anyway, that whole Ray the Squirrel talk got me thinking about this: What if Sonic team ran out of ideas for new characters and made some sort of evil contraption that could turn any one walking down the street into a character they could use? And what if it hit Ray? (Yes, I am aware of Ray the Flying Squirrel) Well, here it is: Ray the Squirrel who isn’t Ray the Flying Squirrel!……… uh.. yeah, not sure how to show you guys that (And no, it’s not just Ray the Flying Squirrel with a ski-slope hairdo, although all do Sonic characters look alike). Anybody know where to send fan art? If Tim and Ray are into the whole fan art thing anyways.

    • That one person that can't think of a witty nickname says:

Oh, by the way, it’s a scan (sort of) so I can send it by e-mail.

  28. Laelaps says:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLt7clQbBzo

The “I Gotta Feeling” of the 70’s/80’s.

  29. mkava says:

Great podcast guys.. even if you seemed a little out of it with a week off. Still funny, but just a little more jaded than usual.

Tim, you might want to try using sprites for your next Tim’s Take. Even if you butcher them, the funny writing might come through and you won’t be restricted to writing the comic as you go, basing it off of your ‘artwork’. =]

And yes, the black doom for Microsoft was spot on. It’s a jerk tactic to try to get people to buy their over-prized hard drives.

Also, Sega’s Blackdoom.. oh god. Really? >.> The announcer is bad enough in the game (especially when he insults you for being in last place…) but releasing a 400point download that essentially beats the game for you? That’s just sad. I’m glad I just downloaded the demo instead of wasting money on renting it. Wasted bandwidth is better than wasted money anyday.

Also, really guys? You had faaaaar too much fun reading the huuuuuge comment. ๐Ÿ˜› Even if it was hilarious and a possible future, wow. >.>

Goodbye, Tim. (in response to your goodbye at the end of the podcast…)

  30. Dry Bones says:

Nice podcast. As usual, very entertaining!

I completely agree about that Black Eyed Peas song, the sprite animation in Pokemon games and the Playstation Move.

  31. koollizard says:

Ray you said you dont like family guy but that reycling old jokes thing is exactly what they do. 0_0

    • Ray says:

Well, there are correct ways and cheap ways to recycle old jokes. In this podcast I couldn’t help but point out how easy it is to take an easy way out and literally re-tell old jokes for more laughs.

  32. Dry Bones says:

One more thing to add before the new podcast comes out: When I looked at the 2P Start main page, I liked that the colors of the Yoshi (Easter) eggs in the comic panel matched the PS Move controllers in the podcast panel. I’m not sure if that was intentional, but I liked the matching color schemes. This marks the 3rd time in the last 5 comics that we have “matching” podcast and comic preview panels (after the Sonic & Mega Man ones). Subtle details are what make 2P Start great!
