Sweet! I called this over a year and a half ago, back when no one thought it was possible. As an obsessive fan of Sonic, it still feels a little like a dream, but I’m happy Sonic has made it into the game, and he looks great. Not perfect, but great.
Noooooooooo….. please… at least 2007…

Personally, I like the new version on the video screen much better - it reminds me a lot of Melee. I assume this select screen is a demo version for the conference, and yet it’s still missing Pokémon Trainer, Lucas, Wario, Zero Suit Samus, Ice Climbers, Zelda, etc.

I’m curious to see how the “ridiculous” number of characters all fit on the screen in the final version when each one is unlocked. Remember Nintendo, I don’t have widescreen!

I was caught off-guard last night with Nintendo’s Fall Press Conference in Japan. I had no idea there was going to be such a conference, let alone a conference where they would actually reveal important information! Sonic in Smash Bros. is a huge revelation as Ray points out in a surprisingly composed blog post. But there were other tid-bits too. A new Mario Baseball title for the Wii has me pretty excited as I’m ready to unlock all the Star Characters all over again. Motorcycles in Mario Kart should be interesting and very fitting for at least 1 character I can think of. The news of a DS Demo channel confirms that we will get Wii to DS connectivity which will hopefully spill over into innovative new gameplay as well. All-in-all, some exciting stuff around the corner!
