I’m not sure what to say about this comic except that I think it turned out great. Ray did a great job with all the expressions, a tough task considering there’s no dialogue. Hope you guys enjoy it. And since I know the comments will start filling up with questions like, “Isn’t Birdo really a guy?“, let me give you my take. In SMB2 there were 3 different Birdos you fought, none of which had bows on their heads. Yes, the instruction manual said it was a guy that wanted to be a girl (or something like that), but clearly there must be a race of Birdos, like there is a race of Yoshis. So the Birdo currently used by Nintendo in Mario titles is a girl, case closed. Now to explain how Yoshi can lay eggs…

When I read the title I thought it would be terrible. I’m glad I was wrong. I’m also glad it’s video game related. This is a good comic though.

As someone who has done extensive Birdo research, let me clear the air on this issue. In Super Mario Bros 2, Birdo was in fact a man who wanted to be a woman.
However, perhaps Nintendo of Japan got some complaints about this or decided they would get some complaints? So in future games with Birdo (Mario Kart and the like) they from then on just said it was a girl, thereby ret-conning the gender of Birdo in America. In Japan she/he may still be a dude, I’m not sure. I do know that they’ve gone so far as to show Birdo and Yoshi holding hands in one manual, so Birdo is definitely a woman in America. Or Yoshi is gay. Or Yoshi is female and Birdo is male.
Yoshis are asexual. They reproduce by eating. If Birdo is a transvestite, Yoshi may not have even noticed.
Man this comic is awesome, however I would suggest this happy couple takes a little advice from my friend Mr. Trojan man.
On an unrelated note, after being inspired by the comment from two weeks ago, I went ahead and listened to every episode of the podcast and read every comic.

That… is just… weird.
No amount of cover up can go over the shame created by that watermark, it’s just sad, although it’s also really funny. Well, actually, a free copy of mariokart(sans wheel) would be nice.

Very funny idea and execution. I never realized that Birdo had the same basic snout as Q*Bert and it makes for a funny joke. Actually, there were multiple punchlines.
So hows about some Mario Kart Wii talk in the podcast, as much as I hate to say it, the game was well worth it, not only are the new tracks awesome, the online play is simply beautiful and the wheel was actually worth it(I know that sounds like I’m advocating satan). But when you are actually playing the game, having the wheel access and the easier to use b button makes a whole lot more difference than people give it credit for.
Oh and I picked up Okami, sans watermark thankfully.
@Psyco: I love my Whiil too, I feel like using the remote defeats the purpose of the Wii and it’s motion controls, it’s not like the Whiil/Wiimote mechanics are broken or anything like that(I’m looking at you Lair >_>).
And i’ve started using the wiimote for brawl too

Well, actually, this gender confusion about Birdo is more complicated than you may think, guys. Check it out to see where this debate can actually go; you’ll be amazed by its extent.
