April 26th, 2008

TimI’m not sure what was going on today, but my apologies for the site being down most of the day. Hopefully things are fixed now…(crosses fingers).

First the super frequent Error 500’s, and then an apparent “Account Suspended” page. Is 2PStart getting in trouble with the hosting company for hogging processor time?

I’ve been getting those error 500’s for weeks now, if not a month+. I just usually refresh the page a couple times and it comes up eventually though  .

Oh yeah, they aren’t new. I just think they are a sign of too high server strain.

Of course, maybe it is hosted on Tim’s computer and every time he gets on Youtube, the site goes all “error 500″ on the loyal fans…

yes, the 500 errors are annoying. Trust me, I hate them. That is caused by too many php requests coming through at the same moment. I’ve done a number of things to try and reduce the problem, but it still happens.

The account suspension is discussed in this week’s podcast, but basically it was due to an email bomb on 2P START! that was bringing down the whole server. I fear that 2P START! is outgrowing the shared server, meaning higher costs are around the corner. I sure hope we sell lots of t-shirts!

I saw an Apache install success default screen last night. New server by any chance?
