Just What the Doctor Ordered

TimThis comic was a lot of fun to do. After all the Dr. Mario talk in the podcast this week, I decided I wanted to do a Dr. Mario comic. I actually came up with 5 or 6 ideas that all could have worked, but this was the best. I would consider this comic a more story-based comic, like our Untold Origins/Embrace Your Destiny comics (this could be considered the sequel really). Most of our comics are gag-based, where there’s one main joke in the last panel and everything else is setup. These story-based ones are nice because while there’s still one main joke in the last panel, that’s only half the fun. We put in lots of little jokes scattered throughout, ‘easter eggs’ if you will. Hopefully you guys catch most of them (a couple of them only long-time 2P START! fans will get).
P.S. - Great job on the artwork, Ray!
P.P.S. - Today is my 3 year anniversary, yay! I love you, Sarah!

Fantastic guys! You two have really outdone yourselves. Very funny stuff.

Found easter eggs! Koopa and Goomba are also sitting in the waiting room(untold origins/embrace your destiny), and the “Sonic is in Brawl” certificate from waaaaay back when is hanging on the wall in Dr.Mario’s office.

    Edit: 1st!

The Dr. Mario rushing to the screen is probably a reference to comic ‘Untold Origins’, It is not a copy/paste/edit but Mario says the ‘It’s-a me’ thing in it too… and the same Poster is on the back wall of the office…

When I try to put a bunch of in-jokes into MY comic it doesn’t get noticed… *sniffle* I like this week’s logo btw.

Who eats 17,280 times a day?

My grandmother. She cooks all the time and never stops cooking. And the first and last thing she always says to you is “Did you eat?” (usually coming immediately after “hello” and always after “goodbye” where she proceeds to stuff you with armfuls of food items stuffed in breakable dishes, as she has never owned a piece of Tupperware in her life.) Did I mention that she’s Italian?

    Happy Anniversary Tim and Sarah!

BTW, I kind of like the story comics better than the simple joke comics. Story comics are great! :)

hah! i found one that nobody seems to have pointed out yet! in the 3rd and 6th panels, on the left is the doctor mario pill bottle anatomy poster, which also showed up in the untold orginis/embrace your destiny with koopa and goomba.

also, when is there going to be a WEWY comic? =(

P.S. if people hadnt pointed them out, i would have never notcied koopa and goomba in the waiting room, or the ’sonic is in brawl’ certificate. i might have noticed koopa and goomba on my own by tomoroow, but i would have never seen the ’sonic is in brawl’ poster at all.

You have to remember that the pills don’t digest, they simply line up and disappear. As long as you take them in the right order and orientation, they won’t fill you up at all.

Is the fact that if you take some of the numbers from the Rx# and some of the numbers from how many tablets TiMii is supposed take you can make 75728 an easter egg  ?

hey your right, koopa is in a pokeball. and yes, i forgot all you have to do to take the tablets is make them line up and they vanish.

…all of a sudden my brain made a connection between dr. mario and tetris. dont they both involve dropping things, lining up the things you drop, and making those things vanish? seroisly. did nintedo rip off tetris?

although dr. mario is still pretty different anyway. but you should make a comic comparing Dr. Mario to Tetris.

I noticed it too, but didn’t think it had to be mentioned. But anyway, it’s more than likely a pokeball since the front/underbelly of the shell isn’t ever red(or green) but tan, but then again when Koopa wore the pokeball he wore it with the white side towards his front, so unless he switched it around……..

Edit: What the heck is on the bottom of the fifth panel(the one with TiMii’s mouth open)? It’s been bothering the crap outta me.

“Tetris & Dr. Mario” for the SNES was the very first time I played either game. I think sticking both games together on the same cartridge was Nintendo’s way of giving a nod to the original Tetris.

Nah. But if you look closely in the first panel at the scribbles above Timii’s head (or, as I found it in all of the scribbles in a different position, you can look at it in basically any panel. Ray’s laziness shows itself) you can kinda slightly make out a *is cut off by a lawnmower*

@Dragonblader1 & etc.: TWEWY is okay, pretty good music, but I fear it’ll get annoying soon if it’s the same songs looped. combat is pretty cool, especially using both screens at the same time, works the mind, but I don’t like the stylus combat yet. Don’t like the plot cause it started with “7 DAYS!!!!”. After finishing the first day, which was very short, I hope the rest of the days are much much longer, although I expect they will be. And I like the Acronym TWEWY cause I no longer say The world ends blah blah…., now I just say Twewy(Tah-woo-wee) . I’ll put up another review later, when I’ve played it more. But I think I’ll like it. Doesn’t make me want a comic for it though, sawwy :? .
