   First! Man I need to stop that. Anyway, that’s frikkin hilarious guys! I love that you included “Do The Mario” in the setlist. You forgot to mention how the Wii version won’t come with actual Drums. Just a cardboard saucer that you bang the Wii-mote and Nunchuck against. Reply to this comment.

   Great comic. Somehow, when I heard that Rock Band was coming out for the Wii, I imagined it quite similar to the last panel. Even still, this will not be a game I pick up. Instead, I wait for GH4. Rock on! Reply to this comment.

    I think we should have 2pstart awards! We can have winners for stuff like “most comments” or “most contests won(lwelyk)”, “most dedicated member” or “oldest member still contributing”. I think it would be cool. You could put all the winners in a special section of the extras, or Ray could draw something for the winners, or make them a wallpaper out of an old comic that they want or something.     Great comic, especially panel 1. I don’t even have those Wii remote jackets, in fact, I still have two remotes with the thin wrist straps, and apparently there’s a new types of wristband that snaps together instead of the little plastic piece you move up and down… Comic also reminds me of an e-mail I got from Nintendo telling me to just let go of the button, not the remote (in reference to Wii Bowling). As for Panel 2, Elite Beat Agents had okay songs, nothing great, but they were bearable, so I think it’s safe to assume Nintendo won’t go THAT far. XD Reply to this comment.

    Funny because it’s true. The presentation was really excellent. You got the safety warnings just right! I think we should have 2pstart awards!     HA! Nice one Narnian. Yeah, since Ray has a job, I guess his comic “maternity leave” is over and he won’t be able to do as much comic stuff. This I think is another good reason for a fourm, user done stuff. Like user done contests and things. Of couse we will need mods and they will have to be approved so we won’t get flooded. Another idea, we can have mods, that are really members that were promoted. That way Tim and Ray don’t have to be on 24/7 to moderate and administate. Reply to this comment.

    I just noticed this, Tim and Ray don’t have any ears! How they can play a music-based game without ears? Why would they buy a music game when they can’t hear the music because they lack ears!     Haha, great comic. I’ve been reading these for a while, and they are definitely one of my favorite web comics. I just started listening to the podcasts, and you guys are great! Ray does have ears, if you look close enough, you can see them. But anyway, yeah add me, we’ll figure out something to play maybe some Halo online(I got rock band too). Or maybe we can just use the 360 to chat while we play Brawl ! And does she play Halo 2 or 3? But anyway, I’ve got: Halo 3, GHIII, Rock Band(only Guitar), GHII, Call of Duty 4, GTA IV, Ninja Gaiden II, and Marvel Ultimate Alliance. And I’ll be buying GH:Aerosmith when it comes out.     Forgive my squirrely ignorance but doesn’t Nintendo have the Mii integration code locked down? As in nobody but them can use it? I think it sucks that the Wii version of Rock Band is basically the PS2 version but like Harmonix said, “We kept waiting and waiting for Nintendo to make their move with certain concerns such as online play and storage space but we couldn’t wait any longer.” Hopefully things are sorted out for Rock Band 2 because you really do miss a lot if you’re not playing on 360 or PS3. I do have to say the family friendly tracklist is a VERY valid concern after Donkey Konga. Reply to this comment.

    Ray’s ears are not there, His hair is just moved to simulate ears, while Tim, has no ears whatsoever… But then again Rays elbows seem to change size depending on what angle his arms are in: 180 degrees – 90 degrees: Not that big less than 90: freaking grapefruits attached to his arms… Reply to this comment.

    On the Comic: While the Wii version gets a sturdier drum kit, it’s also missing character creation, world tour mode, online multiplayer, and downloadable content. Missing it? Oh that’s right, everyone has the xbox version that HAS that stuff in it. Me with my lowly PS2 never REALIZED that such things EXISTED in Rock Band. You see, believe it or not, we on the PS2 have NO CHARACTERS! That’s right, NO CHARACTERS! We watch a PRE-RENDERED MOVIE in the background of all our songs. And if we fail the song, the movie FREEZES as the instruments crash down around us and the feedback roars. There’s no OH I FAILED LET ME MOPE AND DROP MY GUITAR screen, just a SCREECH TO A HALT screen. Oh yes, and there’s no such thing as online mode or downloadable things too. IMAGINE THAT!! I LIKE TO WRITE IN CAPS LOCK TOO! ME TOO!!! BUT I HOLD THE SHIFT KEY! I LIKE THAT BETTER!! Reply to this comment.

They PROMISED dlc, it doesn’t mean it will deliver on all the grounds they said it would… witch means it needs to develop new technology that wasn’t created at the current time for the Wii Rock band game… I think GH4 is a ripoff of Rock Band anyways, Who needs drums and vocals when you are a Guitar H3r0! pressing buttons to music hasn’t satisfied since DDr (and you look cooler with a fake guitar than jumping around on a dance pad anyways.) You know… they PROMISED DLC and online with Guitar Hero 3, and somehow couldn’t even deliver audio in Stereo. Plus, facing facts, Wii owners have been complaining and complaining and complaining that they don’t have Rock Band. Developers have been complaining and complaining and complaining about the lack of competant storage solutions. So you have Harmonix wanting to deliver something while Nintendo is saying “only Geeks and Otaku care about that,” and Nintendo fans are “We don’t care, just give us Rock Band.” And now that they have done what they could do, you still find a reason to complain. Want the truth of the matter? The David Bowie pack (three songs) was 112MBs on PS3. After installation. it was 168MBs. That’s three songs. Unless a storage solution is found for the Wii, this means if all you have is the Rock Band data, they can sell you at most 9-10 songs. But clearly it’s Harmonix being lazy…. I love it. Wii is flawless, developers are to blame. This is an issue the core usergroup has been looking at since a couple months after launch and yet it’s Harmonix’s fault the solution doesn’t exist. They introduced two new peripherals, expanded on online gameplay, made it easy for others to copy and expand on their ideas, and have a huge selection of DLC. Honestly, all Activision has done is take their ideas and added a little bit onto them. What will matter is the song selection, which so far Rock Band has provided more songs that I enjoy than Guitar Hero. Reply to this comment.

    If it wasn’t for the fact that I’ve already seen a functional Wii Rock Band at a Nintendo World I would totally believe all of these things to be true. Obviously the stupid band names could still be there. Actually though,I have heard rumors that Nintendo will be expanding the Wi-fi and downloadable content areas to include things like more albums for rock band. Reply to this comment.

This is an issue the core usergroup has been looking at since a couple months after launch and yet it’s Harmonix’s fault the solution doesn’t exist. Harmonix may not be at fault for the lack of DLC, but they were still pretty lazy with the Wii Rock Band. It’s basically only a song list and 4 instruments. The visuals are pretty bad, and the career isn’t that great. I knew tehre wasn’t going to be the whole “Band World Tour” mode from the 360 and PS3 versions, but I was at least hoping for something along the lines of GHIII: you can earn money and buy new guitars/songs and stuff, you can choose a character from a preset list, and the background visuals actually respond when you fail (or at least are different every time). They could have put this stuff in to at least be as good as GHIII + 3 instruments, but instead, they took the lazy way out and gave us the PS2 version half a year later. Reply to this comment.

     not yet, and definately not for 3 weeks because my 360 is broke……they are gonna pull the “for you inconvinience, we will give you 1 month of X-box live for free!” stuff, so, meh… Oh, well look on the bright side. You might get free stuff. When I got my 360 back there was a copy of Halo3 inside(and the month). And mine only took about a week and a half.      But clearly it’s Harmonix being lazy….I love it. Wii is flawless, developers are to blame. This is an issue the core usergroup has been looking at since a couple months after launch and yet it’s Harmonix’s fault the solution doesn’t exist. Harmonix may not be at fault for the lack of DLC, but they were still pretty lazy with the Wii Rock Band. It’s basically only a song list and 4 instruments. The visuals are pretty bad, and the career isn’t that great. I knew tehre wasn’t going to be the whole “Band World Tour” mode from the 360 and PS3 versions, but I was at least hoping for something along the lines of GHIII: you can earn money and buy new guitars/songs and stuff, you can choose a character from a preset list, and the background visuals actually respond when you fail (or at least are different every time). They could have put this stuff in to at least be as good as GHIII + 3 instruments, but instead, they took the lazy way out and gave us the PS2 version half a year later. YAY! I get to bring the topic back around. Part of me wants to agree with you. After all, the whole “they just gave you four instruments” thing seems pretty valid. Except they gave you four instruments and while World Tour mode is disabled, have you actually played this mode? There’s a reason why most of my time is spent in Band Quickplay. Regardless, without the world tour, you have basically a setlist. Which is odd. Because then, instead of being Rock Band, it’s Guitar Hero, just, as you said, extra instruments. How much work was put into the Wii version of Guitar Hero versus the PS2 version is actually, well, quite similar. The models, animations, graphics, etc are actually identical. Just slightly larger textures on the environments, a couple extra items, and more partical effects and lighting. How much work was thrown into the effort is once again a matter of opinion because you saw a PS2 port with an exclusive Wii shell for your controller. It’s shiny, it’s new. I saw a game that was so haphazardly ported that it shipped in Mono. Look, testing for this in a test environment could be tricky. After all, the most obvious time it shows it’s face is during two players, and Activision would actually have more than one person QA’ing one of their Wii efforts. But this newfangled Stereo audio also shows itself in the godawful boss battles. Your parts come through the left speaker, theirs on the right. If it wasn’t working, it’s very apparent. Porting a PS2 game with broken audio is lazy to me. On the Wii side of things for Rock Band, well, the only excuse I can really come up with is the fact that the PS2 version had no 3D assets that could be easily ported. The bulk of the game would have to be scaled back for the Wii whereas I’m sure the criticisms will definately shape Rock Band 2, you’re essentially expecting Harmonix to redevelop the game exclusively for your platform, all the while complaining that it’s taken so long to do what they did. The assets for Harmonix just wasn’t there to do a hardcore port and the timetable to go beyond online, likewise, just didn’t exist. So what does all of this mean? You get a watered down experience. Which sucks, I know. But frankly, the game wasn’t BUILT around Wii specs. I’d hate to say something as cliche as “be glad you got it at all” but yeah. I mean, let’s put it this way, the detail and polish shown on the consoles it was intended for is sooo in depth, I learned a guitar solo from recording my characters finger movements…. the animation is THAT accurate.      But clearly it’s Harmonix being lazy….I love it. Wii is flawless, developers are to blame. This is an issue the core usergroup has been looking at since a couple months after launch and yet it’s Harmonix’s fault the solution doesn’t exist. Harmonix may not be at fault for the lack of DLC, but they were still pretty lazy with the Wii Rock Band. It’s basically only a song list and 4 instruments. The visuals are pretty bad, and the career isn’t that great. I knew tehre wasn’t going to be the whole “Band World Tour” mode from the 360 and PS3 versions, but I was at least hoping for something along the lines of GHIII: you can earn money and buy new guitars/songs and stuff, you can choose a character from a preset list, and the background visuals actually respond when you fail (or at least are different every time). They could have put this stuff in to at least be as good as GHIII + 3 instruments, but instead, they took the lazy way out and gave us the PS2 version half a year later. YAY! I get to bring the topic back around. Part of me wants to agree with you. After all, the whole “they just gave you four instruments” thing seems pretty valid. Except they gave you four instruments and while World Tour mode is disabled, have you actually played this mode? There’s a reason why most of my time is spent in Band Quickplay.      Jeez, I think they need a forum specifically for you three. @sheppy (for some reason it wouldn’t do anything when I clicked “Reply”, but it was really long anyway): I kinda see what you’re saying, and don’t get me wrong, I enjoy being able to play drums and all (I can’t really sing well, but that’s just me), but I was still expecting a little more. I do agree that it would have been a lot of work for them to add all that stuff just for the Wii version, but I guess either they could have ported it a lot quicker (which they were holding off for a DLC solution, so I guess they have a somewhat valid excuse there), or had some extra stuff in the PS2 version to begin with. Like, for GHIII, if the Wii version is basically the same as the PS2 version (correct me if I’m wrong), it still has the ability to choose characters, buy guitars, and all that stuff. I was kind of expecting the same for Rock Band, even if you couldn’t create your own people or whatever like in the other versions (I have not played the others since all I have is a Wii). Sure, it’s not really needed, but it’s a nice touch. There’s probably not somebody who would go “Well, since you can’t buy guitars or pick your guitarist from a list, I won’t buy this”, but it still makes it more enjoyable, at least for me. That way, it’s “I’ll play these songs so I can get money and buy more stuff at the store” instead of “I’ll play these songs so I can say I beat them.” Again, it’s unnecessary, but it adds some fun to it. I guess my complaint could apply to PS2 owners as well, because they could have had this stuff in the PS2 version way back when and then it would have still been in the Wii version without them having to do extra work. Also, about the visuals, I don’t care so much about the visuals being detailed and accurate, so much as just looking nice. The Rock Band ones just look really blurry and poor quality to me. Again, it’s more about the note-hitting than that, but even (as somebody else mentioned, I haven’t experienced this yet) something as small as your player dropping their instrument and looking upset when you fail adds more to the game than just having everything stop. In all, it’s still a great game, and I’m enjoying it, but it just feels a lot less polished than GHIII. I guess I’ll just have to wait for GHIV and Rock Band 2. Reply to this comment.

And this is Zero in the Zero series. Notice the difference? That’s why I nit-picked. It’s like calling Megaman.EXE(battle network) Megaman X(at least to me it is). And Megaman 9 indeed looks awesome.
