    Preemptive Strike against First posts..

Ray, how you accomplish anything with that chaos of vectors is beyond me….

  2. Tacos says:

    Strange intro…

That Mario Kart sounds awesome though.

I didn’t notice the sixth finger and even after seeing the comments, it didn’t look like a whole other finger, but a stub-type thing.

Also didn’t notice the mouth dropping past the chin.

Ummm, this is the only podcast that has ever made me laugh out loud for realz yo. And it was a hearty laugh.

“This internet needs a better class of webcomic-makers, and I’m gonna give it to them.”
    – Ray

Is it even possible to lurk behind the shadows. I think you can only hide in them.

You just implied that the Black Doom award was a person? Not the greatest transition… tsk tsk tsk.

Well now I know to not use my hotmail account if I ever get a gamertag. But I am using Gmail now so no need to worry.

  3. Kvb says:

-Yeah. I think the lack of crudeness in the community is directly linked to the lack of crudeness in the comics themselves. Never really thought about it before, though.

-What are you talking about? People use hotmail accounts because of MSN, obviously.

-Woah. You’re just gonna change the musical misfit rules unannounced like that?
Well, okay, but that means I’m re-submitting my favorite of last week, because I think it deserves to be played, even though I might be a bit blinded by nostalgia. The one I’m re-submitting isn’t my own, however. That should probably give you an idea of how much I like it.
It’s a song called Burnin Biscuits. It plays at the very last level of the PC game Jazz Jackrabbit 2.

  4. -What are you talking about? People use hotmail accounts because of MSN, obviously.

Actually you don’t need a hotmail account to use MSN. I use my g-mail account with mine; but only for messenger.

Did I hear Ray almost curse? Or was that a ‘shot’ coming out of his mouth?

Good podcast this week, it helped me through my 40 minute drive to work. But, the ending of it….the dial-up noise brought back some repressed memories.

  5. Ray says:

Did I hear Ray almost curse? Or was that a ’shot’ coming out of his mouth?

I never curse – so it was probably “shoot.”

  6. Kvb says:

That’s assuming people didn’t find out about MSN until Gmail was around, though. Which is most likely not the case.

Ah, well driving and other noises pollute the podcast. Darn them.

  8. That’s assuming people didn’t find out about MSN until Gmail was around, though. Which is most likely not the case.

Probably, but here’s hoping that they are smart to just switch. :3

Most people (Read: I) don’t want to create a new MSN account if there is nothing wrong with the old one.
You yourself said you use the Gmail account for messenger alone. And since the e-mail service you use doesn’t influence your MSN experience in any way, what conceivable reason is there for switching to be so smart of a move?

  10. geekyninja says:

Hey guys, thanks a lot for reading my rise from your grave comment. Even though it was partly in a sarcastic manner, it did bring up some interesting point about that segment. Also, thanks for not reading the second half of my comment, it was pretty stupid. Maybe, in a little while, or a long time, I may actually be funny, and get a comment of the week.

True. Out of my own experience, I changed from MSN to g-mail due to consistent spamming and unreceived e-mails.

  12. sheppy says:

    1. I have a hotmail account I’ve been running since 1997. So a LOT of my old contacts from college, etc, know THAT account, not my mroe current ones. I keep using it just for those people. I tied it to me MSN master account back when Xbox Retail Training Program made it’s debut, roughly two months after Halo came out… as in the first one. So I’m stuck with this account forever since it’s basically tied to a lot of people and things.

    2. Ray, don’t worry about the six fingers thing. Believe it or not it’s VERY common in concept arting. In fact that problem runs rampant all over GTA’s artwork starting with the second one.

    3. To get better at drawing females, buy a Playboy. I’m serious. Then just try to capture the poses and gestures in your sketches. Believe it or not, Playboy is a huge boon for an artist, like myself, who struggles with the female form. Basically because you get to see all the curves of the body in an artistic fashion and not so much a foul way. Yes, it’s nudity but seriously, if you’re an artist any part of you that was squeamish died the first time that 60 year old man took center stage in your class. It gets very easy to seperate “nude” from “sex” once you switch off that mode of thinking.

    4. Seriously, much respect on your vectors, I thought my sketches were chaotic… well, okay, they still are and only I can ink my artwork, but regardless seeing your vectors there, I get some sense of shape but not much.

Absolutely true. Every artist makes mistakes.
Take Phooey Duck, for example. You’d think a mistake like that would be a lot easier to catch than a 6th finger, but he’s appeared in plenty of published work.

Yes! comment of the week! In the words of Boris Grishenko, “I am Invincible!”

Ray, how you accomplish anything with that chaos of vectors is beyond me….

I sometimes draw in vectors. You get used to the crazy amount of lines and once you do I think it is actually easier than drawing “by hand.”

I like how the black doom turned from bash on Microsoft to bash on hotmail.

    Very good musical misfits Ray.

The manish Chun-li bothered me more than the 6 fingered man.

I actually agree with this, but be careful how you go about doing it. Try explaining this to your girlfriend when she finds a playboy on your desk. Here’s a hint, it wont go well.

Thanks for telling us to go back to the logo, I would have missed it.

I almost laughed out loud (not LOLed) when Tim made his “the end is near” joke during the rise from your grave part. I really like how Ray edited the music so it started and stopped with the conversation. Thanks for listening and bringing back “the end is near,” even if you decide to chuck it for later episodes.

    over all good podcast.

Trying to take my Musical Misfit I see 😛 Just kidding. Thanks for re-submitting it, though. Maybe that will give it a better shot!

I haven’t had a chance to listen to the podcast yet, but I probably will tomorrow if I have time.

Yeah, credit where credit is due. You brought the song up. But I liked it so much, that I couldn’t let this song’s chance go by, simply because of a change in the rules.
I beat Jazz Jackrabbit 2 again just now. Thanks for reminding me of it. 😀

Well, to give an example, this is among my more organized sketches…

If there is chaos on the page, I prefer it to be hand made…

  18. MetaRidleyR27 says:

Hmm! This team-up of Nintendo and Sakurai sounds very intriguing. Could this be a new Zelda? Perhaps Kirby? Hopefully it will be something super awesome, although I won’t get too hyped up about it. That Mario Kart sounds amazing. I would definitely buy that. By the way, nice new segment. 😛

I didn’t think that the comic was really that bad. Sure, it probably could have been better, but from hearing those other comments, people really liked it. Don’t ever let it get you down if you don’t think you did as good a job as usual. There will always be someone, even if it’s just one person, who will enjoy the comic. 🙂

Nice Musical Misfit! Odd name, but pretty catchy. And to wrap this all up, I’ll finish with a Nice Podcast Guys!

  19. D3vin says:

    Six fingered discount?

I know that five is stealing it,
four is bartering with someone who don’t know anything about the subject and he thinks he’s giving a piece of junk for a reasonable price when you are getting the better end of the deal
three is using expired coupons without them knowing
two is ironically exploiting “buy one get one free’s”
one is finding something at a second hand store, even though the item is brand new and maybe only used once.

I wonder what a Six fingered discount would be? Free Promotional items for writing in to a contest?

  20. moonjuice7 says:

Awesome podcast guys. Certainly one of my favorites. i will submit another musical misfit later. i lost one of my ideas and will have to find it later.

  21. roadjcat says:

Did I hear Ray almost curse? Or was that a ’shot’ coming out of his mouth?

I never curse – so it was probably “shoot.”

It was. And this is really random, but thank you for saying “curse” instead of “cuss”. I really hate that word…I have no idea why.

Anyone, still short notes, but it’s been a while, so I’ll post them.

    1. Cool, new game, looking forward to it.

    2. Actually, the Brawl site may have kinda ruined it a bit for me, because nothing was surprising. It was awesome in Melee, when the “Challenger Approaching” screen for Mewtwo appeared.

    3. What’s with the pickle jar pic? XD Why is your face blocked out Ray? We already know what you look like? 😛

    4. Oh and don’t worry, I have “skinny alien hands” too. *pokes avatar*

    5. For what it’s worth, I think you drew Sarah quite well.

    6. It made me laugh when you said “For REALZ!”

    7. And sometimes really random comics are great, that’s why the Nook face was awesome.

    8. Wow, I’d be pretty annoyed if I lost my gamerscore…

    9. Kinda random, but is there a way to increase the volume of the podcast because I find that I always have to max out the volume on my computer and it’s still not as loud as I’d like.

    10. No clue why, but the beginning of the Musical Misfit made me think of the song “Vs. Parasite Queen” from Metroid Prime.

    11. Rouge

    9. Kinda random, but is there a way to increase the volume of the podcast because I find that I always have to max out the volume on my computer and it’s still not as loud as I’d like.

I don’t know about on the website, but if you listen to it in iTunes, you can right-click -> Get Info -> Options -> Volume Adjustment. I usually do that but have to end up turning my speakers up anyway to hear it fine. It would be nice to have them a little louder by default, but it’s not a huge deal. The only issue is when I’m listening to them on my computer and I get an e-mail and Outlook screams at me because the volume is up. But it’s not terrible.

There will always be someone, even if it’s just one person, who will enjoy the comic.

Even if your own mother is that one person.

  23. Phos says:

From my understanding, If your account dies like that, not only do you lose your gamerscore, but you also can’t use your Profile to use stuff bought on a different 360. Basically, if you buy something and then your 360 red rings, you can still use your Live ID to play/use it. If your Live ID then dies, you can’t use it at all. Makes me want to switch to the PS3.

  24. Phos says:

Wait, that’s not totally accurate. You can still access stuff you bought using the silver (old) account, but the new one won’t be able to access them if they were bought using another 360. you would have to switch to the silver account to use it, and you can’t use netplay (because the account is silver). From my understanding, they are allowing you to reactivate them now, but you have to call tech support. I have enough reasons to want to stop supporting the Xbox as it is, though.

  25. StinkyCheese says:

Everyone knows Final Fantasy, but Mystic Quest didnt, or hasnt, ever get any attention. So, the battle theme is my suggestion for Musical Misfits

    http://www.flyingomelette.com/gamemusic/snes/ffmq-battle2.mp3

oh, and thanks for the Rise From Your Grave shoutout. Obviously, I agree that its a great way to get people to start becoming involved in the community and make some great comments.

  26. StinkyCheese says:

huh? thats not working for me either. Oh well. Heres the youtube link:

Parasite Eve had some amazing music. Not sure if it’s misfit enough, but you can hear it all on this youtube playlist:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nkt54qAgy-4&feature=PlayList&p=019E18227F67A0E3&index=35

  28. Parasite Eve was awesome! The only horror game I actually enjoyed. The music (i.e. your link) actually made me think of Brave Fencer Musashi, though. Likely because they were released close to one another.

  29. FluffyPanda says:

I really think it’s the best game Square Enix ever made. Well, that or Chrono Trigger.

Just a shame about Parasite Eve 2. It was ok, but nothing special. Certainly didn’t live up to the standard of the first game.

  30. Retl says:

    Just a reminder for if Tim is ever planning to actually do a fake politics thing on Ray;
RAY: SEXUAL HARASSMENT (at around the 14 minute mark). Dun dun duuuun.

  31. koollizard says:

Crono trigger cover had the same 6 finger problem.

  32. says:

I believe that was on purpose. It was very funny.
