for musical misfits you should do frogs song

  2. Jonny Niko says:

Hey 2pstart fans here is your chance to get a hold of a one of a kind drawing by Ray Hargreaves himself. This is legit as Ray will testify. Just go to the link to view and bid on this fantastic art.

    Don’t let this pass by!

  3. GX Echidna says:

Huh. I just assumed that the comic’s joke was more topical in relation to the vast number of big games being delayed this year specifically. I guess if you put in context of delays in general, it isn’t as funny, but I like the idea of Pixel Vision Adventures joining the ranks of the other major games that everyone was anticipating this year.

Well, here’s hoping that we’ll be popping PVA into our NESes, Master Systems, and TurboGrafi (which I would assume is the plural of TurboGrafx) early next year.

  4. roadjcat says:

    Note time:

    1. I guess I’m too used to Deadpool who knows he’s in a comic so it’s hard for me to adapt to a comic in which the main character is not only unaware that’s she is in a video game/comic, but that the whole concept is centered around that.

    2. I always just assumed that Lace was for comics about video games in general. And right as I was writing that down, that’s what Tim said. πŸ˜€

    3. Are both of you buying Scribblenauts? I’m curious, because I think it’d make a good topic of the week.

    4. Skype calls are really spiffy. XD

    5. The whole thing about the T.V. remote…I’m going to have to quote Jim Gaffigan: “Remember when the remote used to be like three buttons? Now it’s like an honors math calculator! I’m just trying to find VH1, not split an atom!”

    6. I was too busy writing down that I liked Vector that I missed the Rouge thing the first time. XD And “Rogue”!? That’s an X-Men. πŸ˜›

    7. See there’s something to be said for the simplicity of the Wii. It doesn’t have like twenty different versions that are being discontinued and such and it doesn’t really have all that much in terms of what you guys were talking about. It’s kind of double-edged sword (XD) but, I’m happy with it.

    8. Musical Misfits (I can’t remember what I’ve already suggested):

  5. igorpwnweed says:

You seriously chose the firmware update in stead of this? instead of this. http://tinyurl.com/l39q84 Sure it’s annoying, but voting on which hospital gets the gameroom. Isn’t that kind of mean, to get kid’s hopes up and shoot them down? Just saying.

  6. Kilburn says:

Nice episode, but it seemed short. Probably cause I was playing Plants vs Zombies while listening. Usually listen when I go to work or into the city.

Anyway, the blue and white default is from Windows Movie Maker… I agree, it is VERY over-used.

As for Lace, the iPhone game sounds like a good idea or maybe short flash game installments, or maybe even XBLA and PSN if things get big enough.

Speaking of XBLA, Tim, you are absolutely right about the ad-games needing to stop. Yes, they are free, but that doesnt excuse the unplayability of some of them (YARIS).

Like GX Echidna, I also thought the joke was a stab at all the games delayed to 2010.

Enjoyed the song at the end. Was that a medley of PixelVision or some stuff off the new album? Cause it sounded more like a PV Medley. Also, you saying you wrote the soundtrack to a game that doesnt exist reminds me of Trent Reznor stating that his NIN album “Year Zero” is the soundtrack to a movie that doesnt exist.

Speaking of albums, I’ll be ordering Jessica soon. Is the shipping included in the price tag? And how long would it take to ship?

Never played the Saturn version of Sonic 3D Blast. But I kinda disliked the Genesis version.

Also, I never got to say this, but from last week’s podcast, where you said anonymity does bad things to people, I have to warn you to NEVER EVER go to 4chan if you dont want to see all of humanity’s social progress rendered null and void

    • Ray says:

The ending song is a (sort of) 8-bit medley of many songs from Pixel Vision. It was created around 2006 during work for the unfinished “Pixel Revision” album. I figured now would be as good time as any to toss it out there.

It’ll be pretty obvious when you hear stuff off the upcoming album, because I’ll most likely be promoting it at that point.

Yes, shipping is already included in the $9.99 price for “Jessica and the Silver Eclipse.” Should only take a couple business days to reach your place, assuming you live in the US.

  7. yeah568 says:

    1. Blue screen with white text is default for Windows Movie Maker. Never really use it.

    2. Recorded TV with a camera reaaaaaly sucks.

    3. Gotta hate reposting on YouTube.

    4. @Tim’s embarrassment – ROFLMAO. No offense.

    5. Rouge = EPIC WIN

    And that’s all. Surprisingly short.

  8. GX Echidna says:

As a Pittsburgher, I probably have no right to talk, but…

    “Anntanna”

  9. Kyzin says:

I’ve got an embarrassing story. Well, actually I’ve got lots. But just yesterday I set my hair on fire-during a wedding. Freaking candles.

  10. Kvb says:

    1. The play-testing idea is really alien to me. It’s a little beyond comprehension to me that each individual play-through of a game is a different moment in the character’s life. That’s just silly.

    2. White text on a blue background is the default of Windows Movie Maker, by the way.

    3. Woah! I can understand what Moonjuice is saying! Should I be saying “nice mic” or “nice connection”?
I like your accent, Moonjuice. Not quite like anything I’m used to from Americans.

    4. Yes! Exactly, Ray! Consoles are becoming way too much like PCs. Consoles are supposed to be plug and play. I’m tired of installing, updating, compatibility issues… I used to be a PC gamer, and that is exactly the reason I moved to consoles instead.

    5. Ray won’t be available next week? Does that mean we get a Tim version of “Don’t Listen”?

    6. Nice Misfit! I can’t believe there’s a good Sonic theme I missed.

  11. D3vin says:

Maybe I can make a podcast, like I did that one time πŸ˜‰
I liked this podcast, I also liked the end music.
May I request that we can get a download?

  12. Gadoink says:

I liked the Pixel Vision remix after the podcast a lot, great job Ray!

  13. roadjcat says:

I’ve got a question. When does this “season” end? The Knubby Awards were podcast #47 so that would indicate that a season is 47 episodes and the next Knubby Awards would be on podcast #94…but as you can see that didn’t happen. So are you going to take a break like you guys did last time and are you going to give out a second set of Knubby Awards?

  14. blaster says:

    -Youtube channel
Seriously, I don’t use it much.
    -Blue screen White text.
Remind me of early years when we have to make crappy movies for homework.
    -Remote control
A typical joke in Garfield. Those are the funniest in them.
    -Ray’s absense next week
    I think of a topic:
2P START LIVE! Ep.95: Guest Host edition.
    -Sonic 3D blast
I played once. But I don’t know what I was doing and it told me “You got a CE!”
I threw it away right away.
    -record TV with a camera
Actually, My only way to get a DS screen shot is doing so. But It usually don’t end up well.

    NPG

  15. BadnikHunter says:

Hmm, I think I’ll try out a list comment that seem to be so popular here:

#1 An iPhone Lace game could be awesome, even with floaty moon gravity. You could just cover it up by saying its her jet pack. Also, Ray, why don’t you release Hyper Fire to the App Store. Even with the bug, that gives a challenge.

#2 “You spend all this time building up to something that’s over really quickly” *cough* (Sorry, had to)

#3 Yeah, those camcorder things are the worst, also considering that the majority of them dont even use as much as a tripod to hold the camera steady, they think that them just holding the camera is fine.

#4 Ray, you should have sung Smooth Operator, it makes for an awesome karaoke song.

#5 The firmware things goes for PSP too. It’s quite annoying due to the fact that sometimes when I’m trying to play a friends game, i need the firmware update but you can’t update unless you have full battery, so I can’t play the game till I get home.

#6 Just gotta say awesome Pixel Vision remix thing at the end.

  16. moonjuice7 says:

    @ Kvb
Thanks! I’ve never heard i had an accent before. I guess it would be a NorCal accent since that is where i lived most my life…

Roadj finaly got his wish, Rouge, on a podcast.

Finally, wow, my voice sounds weird.

    • roadjcat says:

No, they mentioned Rouge when they said I mentioned her too much. Loco Motion Edition, it’s during the Rise From Your Grave segment.

  17. moonjuice7 says:

Oh, and i loved the Pixel Vision Remix…

  18. CKcheeseboy says:

There’s nowhere good to post this, but I’m pretty sure Ray just had a heart attack:
    http://gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=95966

  19. Damian says:

Argh! I was doing so well!

See, I’ve been trying to hold out on ‘rising from my grave…’ but I have one weakness. Your talk about programming Pixel Vision. As a lifelong programmer and pixel art enthusiast, I’ve been wanting to program Pixel Vision for ages, even if it just ends up being a little one-level tech demo just to show your idea can come to fruition.

I recall you saying you wouldn’t want pixel vision programmed because it would make it ‘final’ and ‘concrete’ in an earlier podcast. If you ever change your mind, or would like to see just one level working, let me know πŸ™‚

(Of course, due to my procrastinating nature, I can’t make any guarentees)

But I digress. I’ve been reading since comic 47, which isn’t that impressive, but still.

I absolutely adore the podcast, though! The black doom segment is the most awesome thing I have ever come across.

(And to think I managed to stay in my grave until now!)

  20. Cheeseball701 says:

-Man, I wish I hadn’t lost my Saturn copy of this game. It had better special stages.
-I like the Pixel Vision comics just for their prettyfullness. I would like to see more Pixel Vision artwork.
-Is that an NES-ified version of Flower Level (which was originally intended to sound nostalgic anyway)? Yes, it is.

  21. MetaRidleyR27 says:

Nice Podcast Guys! I really enjoyed the Pixel Vision medley at the end, but was a little disappointed that I didn’t get to hear an 8-bit version of Lace Vs. Anti-Alias (unless it was there and I just didn’t notice?).

As for the Pixel Vision comics, it’s definitely a tricky issue. While having the comics attempt to have a joke has been a little iffy, intentionally not making the comic funny could be an entirely different problem. This is mainly because people would get excited every week for a new comic, only to be let down by one with no attempt at humor whatsoever. Maybe it’d be better to have the Pixel Vision comics not part of the regular updating process? Of course, I’m just talking about how I think the other fans would react, I’d have no problem either way. πŸ™‚

  22. Kvb says:

I see there’s only one Misfit suggestion this week. (And none last week, not counting that orchestrated one.)

So let me give Roadjcat some competition here:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSSRRywYkXE
Bird Against the Storm. It’s a theme from LaTale, a PC-based MMORPG.

Hope I’m not too late with that suggestion.

  23. BadnikHunter says:

    -LAST MINUTE MUSICAL MISFIT REQUEST-

    Cave Story: Egg Corridor

It really is a great track, hopefully it qualifies for a Musical Misfit

  24. Phos says:

I just wanted to mention that Yoshihisa Hashimoto, the director of Sonic Unleashed, left Sega several months ago. That really doesn’t do much for my confidence in Needlemouse, though, because I don’t like any of the recent Sonic games, not just the ones on consoles.
