thank goodness, this will make up for the time of me waiting for a game

  2. Paper_Banjokami says:

Oh, so you saw Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Ray? Do you remember, right as Hermione begins telling the Tale of Three Brothers, when Ron interrupted. He ends up saying “Twilight’s fine. Better, actually.” That felt too blatant to not be a nod to the Twilight franchise, you think so?

Oh, and nice podcast… well I’m still listening, I just wanted your opinion the above thingy. But I’m glad that you guys are doing these as often as you are, I love the podcast.

    • Paper_Banjokami says:

And very yes to Postmortem comic #1!

I hope you’ll talk about Donkey Kong Country Returns next time though.

    • Ray says:

Nah, it seemed purposeful to the conversation – Twilight as a book series never crossed my mind.

      • Paper_Banjokami says:

Dagnabbit, you too?? Well I guess we’ll just have to wait until there’s confirmation from the creators.

And could you elaborate on the hacking of the Kinect you and Tim were talking about? Tim brought it up, and it sounded interesting, which you both said, but you never gave specific examples of the cool things hackers have done.

  3. Imaster says:

YES, a new podcast!! Thanks Tim and Ray, listening now…

    • Imaster says:

Ok, done now. Nice Podcast Guys, I enjoyed it as I have all the others I’ve listened to. I was a bit disappointed as to its length considering how rarely we get these, but hey, I can’t complain.

After seeing a couple different reviews for Sonic Colors, I was really interested to see what Ray had to say on the subject. It seemed to jive with what people have been saying on the whole; better than most, but still not great. I don’t think I’m ever going to lay my hands on a Sonic game unless someone overhauls the series 😛

It is funny how technology buzzwords and ‘buzz-concepts’ go in and out. HD, Blu-Ray, and now 3D. It is kind of depressing how movies and games seem to have gotten more gimmicky as of late… all the crazy features and peripherals, and of course the motion-sensing.

Onlive sounds like a very interesting concept, I’m curious to see where it ends up.

As for Kinect, I saw this video just a second ago that was posted on Halolz… you’ve probably already seen it, but I think it’s quite Black Doom worthy. I’ll let it speak for itself:

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWbLOFGSEDo

Anyway, great to hear some up-to-date stuff from you guys again. It’s a shame that I came into this podcast so late, I would have liked to hear each episode as it was recent and relevant. As it is, I’m still working my way through the archives… I’m up to episode 91. It’s going to be a sad, sad day when I catch up to where I started listening again 😛

Please keep making Postmortem shows! How about featuring me on the next one? Just kidding. Unless you want to. I do have an idea for a subject, though; have either of you seen the movie Megamind? I’d be curious to hear what you think of it, although I know there’s going to be at least one aspect to it that Ray won’t like XP

Anyway, I’m off. I should probably stop listening to so many of your podcasts, I’ve started to think in Ray’s voice.

  4. TheLupineOne says:

    1) RAY MENTIONS NEOPETS!? Is this a 2P START! LIVE! first? If only Mark Lindermulder was here. He’d know.

    2) I’d like to see Postmortem Comic #1!

    3) RAY DISLIKES A SONIC GAME? Definitely not a 2P START! first. Man, I was really hopeful for a glowing review…

    4) Buzzwords? Like “blast processing”?

  5. Kvb says:

I haven’t cared about Sonic since Sonic and Knuckles, but I still love hearing Ray go off on Sonic games.
I’m looking forward to that Spindash episode.

  6. Teengamer says:

Ray, what’s your final verdict on Colors? Is it worth buying, as long as I’m not a perfectionist? Perhaps you could write a smallish review? Maybe? I’m looking forward to that podcast in which you’ll discuss it. 😀

So…comic or no comic? I guess we’ll find out on that one.

Short, but great podcast guys! You don’t know how much it means to us fans to hear from you!
    Until next time,
    Teengamer out!

    • Ray says:

My verdict on Colors is to rent it – there are some good things going for die-hards, but I can’t see casual players thinking too much of it. Renting it will be good to see if you somehow fall in love with it and desperately need to own it, but I’m willing to bet you’ll get all you’ll want out of it during that time.

  7. TheSpaz179 says:

As soon as Tim mentioned Halo for Kinect, I thought, Does Microsoft really have the strength to pull through all the reviews saying ‘Terrible game! Terrible game!’ Because imagine how much coding and stuff that Microsoft would have to do to keep Kinect’s little camera on my finger pulling an imaginary trigger. And the reviewers would be like, “I took a glass of water, drank it, and I was out of bullets!” They should learn to take criticism like a man! (I think the developers of Sonic ’06 should give them some tips)

  8. Photoshopping a comic a month. Great idea. With also a Postmortem Podcast, too. That would be sweet.

    ~DJG~

  9. BTW, hilarious Podcast! Can’t wait for #7!!!

    ~DJG~

  10. Myles says:

I’m glad to hear you guys like 2P reSTART.

I played Kinect at a Best Buy, I really didn’t like it. For some reason, this feels like it’s gonna be marketed to a smaller audience than the Wii was, especially if it’s an optional add-on to an already great console. Same for the Move – it’s the Wii all over again. I moved to the PS3 BECAUSE of the grafted-on “waggle games” that bombarded the Wii. Good thing the PS3 and 360 have “quality assurance” tests before they let games through.

Anyway, NPG. I’m still editing our podcast… Ray, how do you do it?

  11. The Mark Lindemulder says:

So Ray, would you recommend I get sonic colors? I’ve only ever played two other sonic games(secret of the rings and racers: zero Gravity), and I wasn’t a big fan of either.

  12. Laelaps says:

NPG! Surprised, though, that Sonic Free Riders wasn’t even mentioned; also, I feel your annoyance at the chao Ray, except I, unlike you, just didn’t bother. You’re seriously hardcore.
So what do you think is better, Adventure or Colors?

    • Laelaps says:

Suggested topics for the next podcast, since I don’t have Twitter:
      Chuck’s Challenge
      Sonic Free Riders
      Tron: Legacy
The possibility of a Space Channel 5 or Samba de Amigo sequel on Kinect.
Your thoughts on 2010 as a whole.

  13. toiletmunger says:

Everyone seems to be asking Ray questions and I feel bad for Tim. So, Tim, what is your favorite kind of fruit juice?

  14. SuperVegeta says:

The thing about OnLive originally was that you didn’t even need the little console part. You could play it from any computer over any high speed internet connection. I’ve seen tests of playing Burnout Paradise on a Netbook. The great thing is that you do not need to upgrade your graphics card or other hardware. Everything is done server side. All you have to do is connect to the internet and be able to show/play the video and sound that comes in.

  15. blaster says:

Well, I’m gonna do my thought about Sonic Colors.

Overall, not bad, it’s a step in the right direction.

But there are just some things here and there that bugs me.

First, some transforms aren’t that controlling. Like the drill and the ghost.

Second, it let you wall jump. It’s just not right in a Sonic Game.

Third, they put the seventh Emerald in that freaking simulator. You know how hard it is to get 50 rings with all those attacking items.

What is the most black-doom worthy is that THEY LET YOU RESTART SPECIAL STAGES!!! I mean, special stages are just about that one-try thing. And they just make you able to restart when you see failing. Ugh

  16. Mr. Saxaphone says:

Alright new podcast!!! I really want to know what you think of Kinect, Because I have one, and if you scathe it, I will scathe you, In a loving and affectionate way!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wait, what??? in a loving way!?!?!?! Oh-ya you guys are my role models whom I love!!!!!!!! I will still scathe you, in a loving and affectionate way. 🙂

    • Mr. Saxaphone says:

Scathe time, this is your worse podcast, EVAR!!!!! 2P postmordom, RAY, you been playen any games tim? TIM. no my wife won’t let me. RAY, Sonic sucks! Tim, We should go I gota feed the baby. you guy used to be funny, like two or three podcasts ago…..

  17. Grandpalove says:

Diagonal walking will become possible on the next Pokemon game, it will be released on Dec. 21, 2012, and then the world will end because of it. :d

  18. Victorioso says:

Thanks for mentioning my chat. Your visit was definitely one of the best parts of the day.

I know it seems stupid for a VA to come to a text-only chat, but we had a Q&A Session and everybody seemed to have enjoyed it. We tried making a radio for Mike to talk on but it didn’t get ready on time. Oh well.

  19. Gathma says:

I was listening to an older podcast today (#94) and was wondering if you could make the song played at the very end of the song downloadable, if you still have it somewhere.

  20. Corbin Brickhouse says:

Good podcast guys! Also my older brother saw me listening to 2P START! LIVE! on my mp3 and said you guys suck. Later I asked him why does he hate 2P START!, and he said he thought the name was stupid. And I said “what do you mean?” and he said “2P START, that sounds weird.” and he also told me he never looked at a comic or heard a single podcast. Then I told him about you 2P START!. Then I gave him my mp3 for him to listen to a podcast, I picked episode 110 : Brawl in the family edition since he liked Brawl in the family. And he listened to the whole thing, he laughed at some parts, and Ray he asked me while he was listening to the podcast “Is Ray gay?”. And I said “No. Why?” and he said “Because he sounds like it.”. He also said he liked the podcast. So now you have another person listening to your podcast.

  21. koollizard says:

would you care to tell us one of your sonic jokes?

  22. Mr. Saxaphone says:

If Ray (or tim preferably ray) would reply to this comic saying anything I would think it to be swell!!!!!!!

  23. BvrBoy says:

Rising from my grave again, I guess. Haven’t posted in ages.

If you don’t remember who I was, I was the guy who rose from his grave and then subsequently mocked your Pac-Man comic the next week which you read right before you went to bed. (I apologized somewhere from that, I was being way to critical.)

I was browsing the internet and somehow stumbled onto this song.

Holy crap. After all this time I finally found out where the theme song came from. I totally nostalgia’d and had to come back to check out the site again. Just wanted to say how awesome you guys were over the years and thanks for all the laughs. It’s sad that you guys had ended, but I’m glad you guys ended before you jumped the shark.

  24. Corbin Brickhouse says:

Hey, because of my love for Pixel Vision I started a petition to get Pixel Vision to be made into a real video game! Here’s the link: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/pixel-vison/

  25. Alex says:

I feel quite sad I have only just this website, due to spending a huge amount of time at the computer, over 3 weeks I have listened to every single pod cast while working. Found the website from Brawl in the family, and was really upset that it had ended.
I’m not a huge game fan, and to get a lot of the jokes wikipediaed the characters!
So yeah just thought it was the least I could do to leave a comment saying how great I thought this site was, and sounds like you had even more fun making it than I did listening.

  26. shmoopshybob says:

That missing kid was my foster brother’s best friend!
The amount of press attention he got was definitly a bit much.

While I actually had a lot fun with Sonic Colors, I could tell getting an S rank was annoying/weird, so I didn’t even try getting them.

  27. roadjcat says:

Okay this is funny listening to this late when Tim thought Paper Mario for the 3DS was such an absurd idea and now it’s happening. haha

Anyway, the reason I listened to this so late is because since Sonic Generations, I’ve gone through a lot of the Sonic games that I missed on out. I mean seriously, I have picked up the majority of Sonic games that were released between Sonic Adventure 2 Battle and now.

After getting back into Sonic Unleashed, I picked up Sonic Colors. I love Unleashed for the most part, I ABSOLUTELY love Generations. I very much dislike Colors. Too much 2D platforming, floaty controls and all the acts besides the first 2 feel like the challenge stages from Generations…only worse. It is SO frustrating and lacks any sense of speed even more so because you can’t boost unless you have white wisps which are in much less of a supply than rings. Not to mention, Sonic Unleashed and Generations have such a spectacle about them and with a serious graphical downgrade for the Wii, it just really isn’t there anymore. The first act of each stage so far has been great, but the rest are just down right frustrating. If people hadn’t seriously underrated Unleashed, this probably wouldn’t have happened.

Also, I played and finished the 3DS version of Generations…in like an hour. It’s more frustrating and less fun than the console versions. It’s not bad, it’s just shallow. Fighting Biolizard again was fun and all (though oddly Sonic claims to have beaten Biolizard the first time around when that was definitely Shadow) even if it was the exact same, but I don’t find myself really going back to the 3DS version the way I do the others.

As for Kinect, we got one for Christmas, and we got several games…Adventures, Sports, Fruit Ninja, Gunstringer, Just Dance 3, and Sonic Free Riders. Honestly, I don’t know what the critics were on because out of those, I honestly feel like I have the most control over Sonic (and it was rated incredibly poorly because of unresponsive controls). In fact, I really enjoy Free Riders for the most part. The motorcycles and mine cart handle poorly and boosting doesn’t always work, but everything else works pretty well and there are A LOT of other motions required in the game and they all work pretty well for the most part. It is the best display of what the Kinect can do in my opinion and it is the only one I really see myself coming back to on my own without having like friends or family over.
