Gears of War 2 Teaser – Mad World Version

Ray and I got to talking about the new Gears of War 2 trailer and realized two things. First, they used the chainsaw almost exactly how Ray said they should use it in our latest podcast (strange coincidence). Second, I told him it would be awesome to put the Mad World song to the new trailer, half jokingly, half seriously. He was up to the task and put this video together and I think it’s great. His point is that the song is emotional, not the game. I think he’s right.

I’m pretty well convinced that Gary Jules’ “Mad World” should be the theme song for this franchise. It sounds like this song was made for Gears of War, not Donnie Darko.

I’m not saying they play it throughout the game, but maybe in some lengthy intro sequence or the credits. It would be much better than “OH YEAH! THIS IS MY KINDA SH**!” by up and coming rapper Cole Train.

Wait didn’t that have a different video on TV? I remember it quite different and loved it.

Even if the song is not appropriate for the title there is something artistic about the stark contrast. This reminds me of when GTA first came out with the car crash ad with opera music. Very cool.
i know you were trying to do something funny but i like this better than the original version.
I really like the video. I personally think its better than the original version.
