Dancing With The Stars

Special thanks go to reader “Truth,” who put the idea of Nintendo + Dancing With the Stars on my mind, and also to reader “Brawler08” for helping me realize this comic’s potential while playing Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Nothing makes me more giddy than playing as Jigglypuff and dancing my way to victory in Smash Bros, so just the thought of putting her unnaturally cheery eyes in a comic made my day.
LOL! This is great guys. I think you really captured the Nintendo feel w/ this one. đ Corny but made me chuckle and thatâs all that matters.
Oh, and AMAZING job lighting up the text. It was simple, but really changed the way the text looked.

I think that the more subtle, situational jokes work really well in your comic. Sometimes you don’t need a traditional punchline to get the joke across.

I’ve never seen the show, but this is a great comic. It is a really cute, and drawn amazingly. and it made me laugh.
Loved it. I think with stars like that I would actually bring myself to watch the show.

I hear Dancing With The Stars and I always think of the Ratchet & Clank Tools of Destruction skill point where you have to use the groovatron X number of times in the Asteroid Belt…

I seem to be the only one that actually watches Dancing with the Stars, and I don’t know like half the celebrities, so I just root for the professional dancers that I know. XD
Anyway great comic. I really don’t have that much to say about this one though. Maybe I’ll think of something later…:)

This comic is adorably cute â No, it oozes cuteness with the pretty graphics around Stafy and Jigglypuff, the sparkling text and the detail in the panels with the stage in the background. Great job.

The 2P Start logo looks out of place for some reason.
Not bad, but not great. (NBBNGCG?) Great artwork though.
You even (sort of) followed the formula, hitting 2/3 of it within the first panel.
I probably would’ve liked it better had I known who Stafy was. But Jigglypuff made me laugh and it looked really nice.

I was trying to replicate the Starman’s eyes – not sure if ever came off quite right….
i thought that was pretty obvious, just out of place for the context of the comic. Though I don’t know what could have gone there instead without investing even more time into the comic making process as the logo for the show’s elegant, but not imitable for this medium.
I think it looks fine. That’s what I thought of when I saw it, so mission accomplished I suppose.

Looking at it from across the room it does, But siting as close as I am to my monitor, I first noticed the tiny, tiny Tim and Ray, but now that you mention it, It does. It is like some wacky subliminal message or something.

That line cracked me up. Speaking of which, the dojo said that Stafy would burst into flames if he was attacked. The only problem? The first hit usually knocks him off the stage, or he just walks off on his own! Has anyone actually seen Stafy’s hidden power?

Yep – nothing does Nintendo characters better than Smash Bros, so it’s the perfect reference material – especially considering the fact that you have nearly fully-posable models to work with yourself.

I suppose the cheezy-ness works with the “Dancing with the stars” theme, but I still didn’t find it very funny. Not my favorite comic, but nice art. You haven’t been slacking off with your “real” job, have you?

OBJECTION! If I recall correctly, Tim, you had nothing to do with this comic, according to Ray. But then, why does your comment state that you are the author? How do you explain this massive contridiction?

So why doesn’t Ray get Author status as well? (I always wondered this, since after all, he does do quite a bit of the work as well…)
tustin, you have a very good point there. i know i have no part in this conversation, but i just wanted to say that. there. i said it.
My guess is that WordPress only allows one person’s account to show up as “Author”, which would be the admin account (or something to that effect).
Or it just makes Tim feel superior.
CKcheeseboy is right, I think I tried to change it at one point to include Ray as well, but I couldn’t figure it out. Maybe I’ll give it another go.

That wouldn’t be true though, Ray is the Illustrator/Artist. He just takes your material and makes it visual. Or something like that…

Hey what’s going on with the podcasts guys? None of them are working, I’m just getting a “page not found” message.” Last night it was giving me a pageload of code that would freeze up my browser if I let it try to load it all. I’m trying to finish the latest podcast. Peace! (None of the other podcasts seem to be there either.)
BTW, I can’t say I really understand the comic, but I love the character art! Those two are super cute! (Jigs is pretty awesome in Melee.) Yeah, and about your last podcast… just as Tim is hating on the new Mario baseball game, while loving the old… I’m kind of that way with Brawl and Melee. Though I don’t think Brawl is broken or anything… it’s sooo much less awesome then Melee in terms of exciting gameplay. Everyone always talks about the features, but what about the fighting?? I give it a big “Meh.7”
(Sorry I had been waiting Brawl for soo long that the wound it left in me may never fully heal. I will be MUCH more skeptical of any future Smash releases.)

The wallpaper for this amazing comic was going to stay my desxtop background for several years…but GX Echidna’s “Chibi Blaze” wallpaper just barely edged it out.

Well, when this comic was first posted, the Starfy game wasn’t out in the US yet, so they just went off of his name from Brawl, which is Stafy.
You could’ve also used a Starman (Earthbound) or a Starman (Mario) instead of Starfy.
um… wouldnt kirby kill staRfy if he sees that? get rid of jigglypuff and add starly BAM! you get danceing with the stars!
I would watch that show if game characters were on it. What other combinations could there be? Diddy and Dixie?
