Shifting Gears

TimNot sure what to say about this week’s comic, except that it’s a lot of fun reading the comments and speculation these days. Now do you guys see why soap operas are so popular? Anyway, TUNE IN NEXT WEEK FOR THE EXCITING CONTINUATION OF 2P START!

  1. Retl says:

The truth is… You saved me that night, Tim.
    But it was my fault…
I was on the road to destruction!

Still liking the artwork. Not sure what else to say.

  2. Keja says:

You and me… Used to be together…
    Everyday together, always…
I really feel… That I’m losing my best friend
    I can’t believe this could be… the end…

    • PersonalRapture says:

It looks as though… you’re letting go
      And if it’s real
      Well I don’t want to know…

  3. Kvb says:

So the end of 2P Start is nearing? The first number of that “All *** of them” is almost definitely a 1. So unless you guys are shooting for over 1000 comics, that means there’s not that many left.

Does anyone recognize the font Ray used? If we had the font, we could see if the second number is a 7, 8 or 9.

  4. Deathsnate says:

Oh the end… *Sniff* It’s sad that there will be no more comics, and podcast. It had to end someday… It just feels so soon…

    • Myuu says:

Some people are assuming this really means the end, but I wouldn’ think they’d be so subtle about it. Am I the only one holding out on this being some kind of sadistic prank on the readership? The blog entry almost seems to imply that, or something similar.

  5. MorbidGreymon says:

Why is Tim in the back seat. Is he in a taxi or did he finally spend some of the pool on his own personal driver?

  6. jmleleven says:

I bet that, in the next comic, the “future” Tim and Ray will travel through time to tell the “past” ones to never make this comic, so 2P START! won’t end.

Nah, just kidding. 2P START will NEVER END!!! Just sayin’.

  7. blaster says:

I don’t see the end is near now… because the design, it looks like several years from now. Maybe they are just imaging what it may look like after 2P START! ends?

My theory is that these comic are testers, testing who are real hard core 2P START fan. So f they want to end, Tim would IP-ban us first.

Last sentense to Tim & Ray.
Don’t forget you guys are between someone and a bullet to his head.

  8. Teengamer says:

Yep, definitely Tokyo, and yep, definitely future Tim. This did indeed clear up some confusion, as I can see now that Tim’s going to go visit Ray (who must be in a very powerful position by now).

Well, I can’t say I’m liking these comics as much as your regular ones, but maybe they’ll end up being my faves at some point. Who knows? 😉

  9. Matt says:

This sucks, get back to video games.

  10. TheLupineOne says:

    That is definitely 1XX memories…
It looks like this is truly the end of 2P START!

But two things that have not been commented on.
    1) Tim has been faded out in the logo. In the future, is Tim… dead?
    2) The Archive has been updated. The icons for these two comics are [?] What do you make of that?

    • JohnW says:

      Ray is faded, not Tim.

      • TheLupineOne says:

Can we get someone to fix that?

      • JohnW says:

No. It will forever be noted you think Ray is Tim and Tim is Ray.

I don’t have much to say on the comic, other than the 1st number is 100% CONFIRMED to be a 1.

      • JohnW says:

JUST noticed, the “2” in the 2P START! on the back of the pic is bolded, maybe this is alluding to the fact that Tim left everything up to Ray and is going on this pictured trip to see him?

    • yeah568 says:

According to the font that I found that looks pretty much the exact same, that is most definitely NOT a 1. The 1 in that font has no top flick thing.

      Just sayin’.

(I have a feeling that Ray is going to get very mad soon. :D)

  11. David says:

I like how Ray chose THAT picture to represent his great memories with Tim. Kinda funny to me for some reason.

    SUCCESS!

    • SuperVegeta says:

Yeah, it’s not a happy photo, it’s one where Tim is slave driving Ray into more panels and less copy pasta. Giving that photo to Tim must have been Ray’s way of expressing how the last year has felt to him, prompting him to quit.

  12. 2pPunch!! says:

I knew it!It was future Tim and future Ray

  13. The Gastronomic Gamer says:

Thanks for all the 2P Start memories. All 1 of them.

  14. shyguy22 says:

Why Won’t Tim ware the beanie?

  15. Rokai says:

I FRIGGIN KNEW IT…well, kinda. I knew it was related to the end of 2PSTART! though.

  16. KnucklesE says:

As seen by the decoration on the 2p start logo Tim is in Japan. My guess… Tim is leaving 2p start for some time, or forever.

    • lilman1101 says:

you beat me to it XD

    • Daecious says:

i think ray is leaving, at least for awhile. in the podcast he talked about wanting some time to do other projects. and in the last couple of comics the logo shows ray fading away. But tim is still there, so maybe he’ll continue on his own? or possibly get a new partner? A new person wouldnt be the same though.

  17. lilman1101 says:

2P Start is dead! nah, im only kidding but what could this possibly be? also it is future Tim and Ray because it looks like Tim is in Japan. Picking up the new Hannah Montana game are we Tim?

  18. 2pPunch!! says:

    2p start is dead!NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  19. Agent4286 says:

Well this elaborates on my movie ida from last week, now we know Tims (?) motivation…

  20. steve-ohs says:

Is this the end of 2pstart??
NO!!! I just have to make up crazy theories showing how it isn’t!!
Ray and Tim are actually going to Japan to meet up an old friend so he can join them and make 3pstart (only for the reason to make their telephone number make sense).

    • BadnikHunter says:

Maybe Willi is in Japan? I wouldn’t know who they might be visiting, unless Ray finally took over SEGA and wants Tim to be there when he makes the best Sonic game since Sonic Adventure 2

    • Dry Bones says:

      Sonic is the 3rd player!

  21. CKcheeseboy says:

So wait, since this is almost certainly the future, does this comic exist in that timeline? And if so, would that mean Tim and Ray predicted the future of their own lives?

Sorry, didn’t get my Lost fix this week.

    • CKcheeseboy says:

And on top of that, is Tim looking at a photograph of him and Ray, or is that a drawing of comic Tim and Ray? We can’t tell since it’s the comic world anyway…

  22. freeplay says:

Guy’s, I’ve seen the future in a dream last night, and it’s not pretty. You guys end up buying a water park in Tokyo, and it’s invaded by 2pstart fans(and there children). All the kids there only play terrible video games(One being wild woody), except for Lilly, who by the miracle of rays music has learn about real retro gaming. That life skill allows her to choose real consoles and games.

  23. NintendoNaut says:

So this is the future then…I figured that out last week when I realized that Lily is an infant and couldn’t be talking to Tim. Does this mean the end of 2PStart?

  24. MiMGodfather says:

You guys are having way too much fun with this, I think 🙂

  25. I think I’ll take a break from 2PSTART and just watch it all on hulu once the season finale hits.

  26. MAD_BOY says:

It’s obvious that Ray will leave and we will only get Tim’s take comics from now on.

  27. SuperVegeta says:

The note seems to be saying something like, Thanks for all the (then it is a number, such as the number of comics) memories. It appears to be a 2 , but could also be a 3.
This is getting quite epic. I think maybe Tim tried to make his own living with Tim’s Takes and after 786 daily updates by him reusing the same artwork over and over, people finally got tired of it and now Tim is desperate to get Ray back.

  28. BadnikHunter says:

Great, even more speculation. I think I’ll have more fun reading other peoples’ theory instead of making my own. The only thing that scares me is that the first number of the number you covered up is definitely a 1, so that either means you shot a random number out there, or you guys are already thinking of when 2P Start may end(and if that’s a 1, that end would be fairly soon if the latter is true), considering that I remember Ray saying they wanted to at least show us how many more comics there would be before it ended. Let’s just hope it’s a random number and wait till the next comics. Or let’s hope its in the 1 thousand range 😛

  29. roadjcat says:

This is getting interesting actually, but I thought you guys didn’t like comics like this? Too newspaper-y?

  30. blaster says:

If your goal is to twist our mind, you succeed.
I don’t think I can go to sleep tonight.
I would spend the whole night figuring out what does that mean.
My latest theory is that Ray has become the president of SEGA and start making quality sonic games.

  31. Cyberkid says:

Great, just great. I finally managed to wise fwom mah gwave, and it turns out that I might have just as well stayed there since the 2P Start world is coming to an end.

    Or is it?

First, let me point out that in the last comic, Tim was drinking Diet DP, which in the podcast, he admitted that he’ll never drink. Tastes (and diets) change with age, so this is most likely an alternate future that was created to show what Tim and Ray think will happen 10, 20 years into the future.

Most likely, Ray is now a famous game and/or music designer.

(I’m still waiting for some awesome joke that will take all this setup and blast it to smithereens, cracking everyone up in ways previously thought impossible.)

  32. They’ll just keep this going for another 11 months and hit us with the longest build-up April Fool joke evar.

  33. Gold says:

Yea, RAY is faded out on the logo, maybe some twist will occur, and Tim carries on the comic, and Ray quits. :O

  34. Curaga says:

I hope the comic isn’t over 🙁 THIS BETTER HAVE SOME EPIC TWIST!

  35. Bobipine says:

I’ll just put random guesses here I think.
So, the fact that the number 2 is in bold, might mean something, it will either be 1, or 3 in the “near” future. The number of memories, probably referring to the number of comics and podcast, is hidden, therefore undecided, it is not the death of 2P START!, well, maybe the 2. o idea which city Tim’s in. And here is the , probably, wrong answer to this riddle, one of you won the Peace Nobel prize and is leaving the group, or making it bigger.

    • Bobipine says:

New hint I just noticed, the banner. So, you are in Japan, thus the Japan flag logo. Ray’s character is faded. The main mystery revolves around future Ray with his new collar shirt. Maybe he got invited to develop Lace’s video game by some video game company, maybe he’s getting married in Japan? whatever it is, it’s probably some big news (the mystery voice clip at the end of last week’s podcast) you’d like to tell use, slowly, using the comic as a medium. It might be a well thought out joke, if that’s the case, Ray has parted to battle with black doom, leaving that picture to Tim, in case he doesn’t make it back (not that I doubt your strength). April fool’s in about 11 month, so just a gag to make us panic is out of question, I hope so. Therefore, a big news (Tim is heading there to drop it like it’s hot)

  36. vincecult says:

i bet ray goes back in time and sets off a nuclear bomb to try and stop all the bad sonic games from ever being created and this is just a “flash sideways” to what could have been where rat is ceo of sega and makes good sonic games. wuhu!

  37. D3vin says:

    2P START: Tokyo Drift?
    nah, needs more um, drifting…

  38. Highwater Trousers says:

Okay, I thought we were going to get a bit more resolution this week. I guess not. Onward to speculative adventure! I kind of doubt that this is the end of 2P START!, it would be rather funny if you guys ended it like The Sopranos or Newhart. Either end with a completely black screen (or panels in this case) or make it so that the entire comic was just one big dream. Whatever happens, I’ll pick up 2P START! – Trouble in Tokyo with director’s comments and deleted scenes.

  39. Jarkes says:

    I… still don’t get it.

  40. gatorsteph202 says:

2pstart cant end now there are so many things you guys can still do, unless this is just a joke, I hope so. I guess we will have to wait to next week to find out if 2pstart is over or this was just a cruel prank to see how many comments th

  41. TriforceBun says:

I don’t think this is quite the end, but I do think that there will be some sort of major change or shift in the comic soon. Tim himself may be leaving, for instance.

  42. Muniosi says:

    NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  43. Aaron90 says:

Has Ray suddenly died in Japan somehow?
I bet it was the Pokemon sign that fell on him!
Or danced to death with the Hanna Montana game!

    Oh gosh… so many possibilities!

    I bet he’s quit gaming!
Hanna Montana can do that to people.

  44. Jarkes says:

Judging by the comment at the beginning, I’m guessing these last few comics are probably a reference to soap operas, and how bad stuff seems to happen all the time on them. I, for one, highly doubt that this signifies the end of 2P Start. I am a little concerned as to what these comics REALLY mean, though…
If your plan is to induce Wild Mass Guessing amongst your fans, you’ve succeeded.

  45. droswald says:

For a second I thought Tim was viewing that photo on an iPad.

I like this series so far, I think it is interesting when a comic breaks away from their standard mold and does something different. However, I do think everyone is overreacting. In podcast 110: Brawl in the Family Edition , Tim and Ray briefly talk about a 4 part comic that they wanted to do. I bet that’s what were getting now. Of course, overreactions are exactly what Tim and Ray are going for with this series.

  46. Christian T. says:

But who is taking the photographs?

  47. YamiGekusu says:

I think Tim’s going to go to an arcade to meet up with Ray to play some Dance Dance Revolution. But that’s just what I think lol.

  48. zotec says:

i don’t think the end of 2P START OR IS IT (HOPE NOT)

  49. zotec says:

i think its just tim’s dream and he will wake up and everything will continue as it is

  50. Mirby says:

Hey, at least we have confirmation that some sort of resolution may happen next week…

I wish I knew what the entirety of the note on the back of the pic said though…

  51. Cheeseball701 says:

My pet theory: 2PStart ended when Ray moved to Japan to pursue a techno-pop career with legend Takenobu Mitsuyoshi.

  52. mrpineapplehead says:

well this is just confusing for me

it makes no sense that tim is in japan…just saying
(ok that was a excuse just to put just saying there)

  53. Dry Bones says:

Maybe Ray has moved to Japan to follow his soulmate. Who could that soulmate be? Could it be Miley from comic #115? Is Miley that much of a Sonic freak that she’d move to Japan, the birthplace of Sonic? Is this somehow related to the Hannah Montana (Miley Cyrus) game Ray is holding in comic #166? In a podcast, Tim DID say something like, “Now, you can only date girls named Miley” and even mentioned Miley Cyrus.

Perhaps SONIC is Ray’s soulmate, so Ray moved to Japan in a vain attempt to be closer to him… So many questions…this IS like a soap opera.

  54. Oliby says:

    Dear 2P Start!,

I’ve been reading 2P Start! Comics for a couple of years now and the jokes have been cool! And then suddenly, I saw your latest installment of the “2P Start! In Japan” series and it’s so awesome. I’m totally blown away. 1) Now if I’m not mistaken, Tim (The man with the large beanie-less forehead whose first appearance was in comic #1) appeared in several podcast for the old Raybob Industry site, right? 2) Yoshi, who came from the Mario series, is what kind of animal, dragon or dinosaur? 3) It says on the postcard Tim’s holding, “Thanks for the 2P Start! Memories, all 1… of them.” This doesn’t mean that 2P Start! Is going to die, can it? I hope not!

    Oliby

    ———————————————————————————————–

    P.S.
The Comic Talk for “How to Train Your Dragon,” in my opinion, should have addressed the fan controversy over whether Yoshi is a dragon or dinosaur, maybe it could be the first Mystery in Videogame segment.

  55. BooCwis says:

    Raaaay, is that copypasta?

And how many memories are there? It looks like a 2 in the beginning. My only guess is that “memories” means “comics” and they’re faking us out by saying that they’re stopping at 200. …Or is that a 1? For 169?

(Also, this is far better than the Koopa/Goomba 2 parter (maybe the credit card one as well). AND you managed to make a Tear Jerker comic. C’mon guys, admit it!)

  56. Zegres says:

Okay, I totally have this all figured out.
Ray Stole Tim’s Pools of money and fled to Japan. The Picture was the only thing left in the pool and it shows one of Ray’s deepest darkest hours. The note on the back is thanking Tim for all the memories he i about to create with Tim’s money. Tim’s one last thing to do is find Ray and get his money back. Tim will find Ray in a hotel where they will confront each other. Ray will run from the room and a hilarious chase scene will follow where they are running in and out of rooms while the Benny Hill Theme plays in the background. Finally Tim will catch Ray and Ray with a trap of some sort. Ray will say “I would have gotten away if it wasn’t for you and melding trap.” It will all end with Tim flying home in a jet full of money and Ray sitting in a Japanese prison waiting to go to court.

  57. Laelaps says:

    First thought: Holy Mackeral!!!
Second Thoughts: So, the logo’s a Japanese flag with Tim (still sporting his beanie, BTW) and a fading Ray – so did Ray leave 2P Start!?? And next week – a continuation?? I don’t even know what to say to that. And where is Tim going???
Third thought: Looking at it again, this reminds me of that Tale of Two Cities scene where the Marquis, after his carriage killed a kid, see what appears to be blood on his hands before stifling his guilt. Funny that Ray should sum up his 2P Start! memories with a picture like that.
Let’s all hope Ray left because of the abuse and Tim, after an epic Tim’s take fail, is about to go and beg and get him back. 2P Start must live on!!!

    • Myuu says:

Here’s a paradox to that: If Ray had left, then why is the comic in Ray’s usual Adobe Illustrator high-quality style? In reality, he must still be working on the comic.

      • Laelaps says:

I meant future toon Ray, not “real” present Ray.
(Future – go back to the Freeroaming edition podcast)

  58. jefferlope says:

If this comic means 2P-Start is ending.. then i think it’s about time for me to RISE FROM MY GRAVE.
I came in with the Brawl in the Family crowd and immediately fell in love with the 2P-Start.
2P-Start has earned its way onto my bookmarks bar right next to Brawl in the Family and Awkward Zombie (another of my favorite web-comics).

Wait.. I sent an e-mail to Ray some months ago.. Should I have risen from my grave then? Does this make me an illegal grave riser?!

Umm.. anyway, I love the comic, I love the podcasts, I look forward to them every week, and I’d hate to see it all end.

I hope the grave rising police don’t catch me…

  59. C.Olimar788 says:

I think this is some kind of alternate-universe 2P Start ending that we’re dealing with, here. I think if they were planning to end 2P Start they would be a lot more upfront about it; it’d just be the polite and considerate thing to do.

And I definitely agree with jmleleven’s theory of time travel and stopping the end of 2P Start. Except I don’t think time machines would be very realistic for this scenario. XD

  60. Micate says:

2P Start is dead. Welcome to …. 4P Start. ne? ne? OK, was worth a try. Just sayin’. (This is the curse you brought upon yourself. Just sayin’, if you didn’t want us to use a phrase, don’t scare us with gloom and doom comics, just sayin’ just sayin’)

  61. Artik_Skarab says:

The year is 2027. The gaming world is in peril…

The rise of harcore gamers that started in the 2000s has overdriven all other types of games. Now, every game has to be hyper violent, have nudity and the main characters are always super macho-men who think they are better than everybody else, cuss all the time and don’t care what happen to other people. Even regular franchises like Mario or Zelda have fallen to this plague. Even worse, the old-school series revival trend has also fallen to this, so returning characters like Pit, Alex Kidd or Ryo Hazuki have been remade to be badass and kill everybody in hyper-realistic First-Person Shooters.

In 2020, sensing what the future might hold for gaming, Ray has left 2P Start! for Japan in order to stop the launch of Shadow The Hedgehog 2: Doom Is Darker Than Ever. He still regularly contacted Tim, who was enjoying a nice retirement after all the money 2P Start! had made him. However, one day, Ray stopped calling Tim and he never heard of him again…

Now that Lily has left the house of her parents, Tim decided to go look for his old pal to get news of him and try to stop this horrible disease affecting video games…

(Basically, the future of gaming and 2P Start! combined in one post-apocalyptic future. I bashed a little bit on the FPS plague, because most games coming out are either hyper-realistic, FPS or both. I just wish this trend could end and we’d go back to what video games were before, just fun and creativity in every game. Anyway, hope you guys like it and that 2P Start! can continue for a long time.)

  62. Apkinesis says:

Huh, so I guess it is the future; from the last couple of comics I thought it was simply an update to Toon Tim and Ray’s designs.

Anyway, I’m pretty sure the covered number on the back of that photo is just a red herring; the real reason Tim’s hand is covering the text is because the photo is actually from Ray’s past self, “Raymona.” The past and future are colliding! :O That would mean it’s safe to assume that someone has gotten their hands on a time-travel device, and it’s likely Ray, if he’s to be in grade school while writing the note yet still remember being a part of 2P START! in his relative future.

Since Tim is traveling to Japan with an apparent concern for Ray, he’s likely investigating Ray’s disappearance (also hinted in the comic page header by the faded image of Ray), which joined with the established fact that Ray has gone back in time, points to the conclusion that Ray is now stuck in the past. But why does it only affect Ray and not other patrons? The secret to unlocking the time portal is a cleverly disguised key, veiled as something no sane gamer would ever touch and thus supposedly never discover — the Hannah Montana game.

Assuming the above theory is true, it’s very likely that Ray first encountered the time-travel device at the store in which he saw Pokemon Black and White. In fact, it’s possible that the Pokemon Black and White display itself is the portal to the past, as its shown “outdated graphics” are actually a window into the past of the store, where it once showcased Pokemon Blue and Red.

As for how Raymona got his hands on a relative-future screenshot of a 2P START! panel, he simply replicated the drawing from memory, by hand — he is the artist of the panel, after all, and that panel in particular was used because not only was it a fairly recent comic he had done before getting stuck in the past, but it was also a panel he was over-exposed to, being forced to work with dozens of similar panels in that April Fools comic; so it best stuck in his mind, making it easiest to replicate without an available reference. He sealed the photo in a time-capsule (where it decayed, tore, and wrinkled a bit), hoping it would someday reach future Tim so that he might save him.

But will Tim be able to save Ray? Or will he only become stuck in the past as well? Stay tuned to find out.

    • Apkinesis says:

Whoops, the “But why … Hannah Montana game” section should be at the end of the “Assuming the above theory…” paragraph, rather than the one it’s at. Copy/paste mistake on my part.

      • Apkinesis says:

Corrected version below, hopefully with “spoilers” on so it won’t take up double the comment space.

  63. Ihsoylr says:

I bet I know! In Comic 166, Ray was in Japan. In Comic 167, Tim was at an airport. In this comic, he’s in a taxi looking at a 2P Start! photo and the logo is the Japan flag, so this is how I sum it up.

In the future, Ray has moved to Japan after 2P Start! ends. Tim is heading there to meet up with him as a reunion. The photo reminds Tim of the old days of making comics. Plus, on the back of the photo it seems to have ‘1’ as the first digit, and ‘7’ as the second. This could be a way of saying 2P Start! ends at comic 170…

If they’re really ending, they’re kind of themselves. Tim’s looked sad and distraught both these comics…So basically they’re saying that’s the way it’s going to be when 2PStart! ends…Which is kind of a lame note to end on. XD

  65. Imaster says:

Well, you basically nailed it in your comment, Tim. Can’t wait to see what all this is about.

  66. D3vin says:

I’d say this comic used to be good or that this is the death of 2P Start, but people would think I was joking. No, this is a bad comic. I know you are going for you 200 page epic, but you guys are failing. This it almost so that I don’t want to go here next week, especially since I know you guys are still making it up as you go and have no idea when this is going to end. I will not add to the speculation of what is “hidden” here because nothing is here to look for. Stop this train, I would like to get off, put my head under the wheels and let it roll over me. You have heard of rising from your grave, right? I want to do the opposite.

Wake me up when this snores-ville is over.

    • D3vin says:

…And with that, I need to hurry and put the finishing touches on my next guest strip. Having two parallel and different stories won’t hurt, right?

  67. Grandpalove says:

    Ray’s quitting the comic? YAAAAAY!!!!

Okay, not really “yay”. I’m not gonna bother making any guesses, because I just wanna see how it turns out. Plus, I haven’t been around “2P Start” long enough for any big, dramatic ending to really bother me… well, okay, it would bug me, I’ll admit it.

A note to Tim and Ray: If this is the end, as so many seem to be guessing, I have to say this is a really interesting way to end things. Keep on doin’ what you’re doin’! (unless what you’re doing is quitting, and in that case stop it right now! er…. you know what I mean…)

  68. Laelaps says:

Wait! Comic #140! The pieces are all falling into place now…

  69. Jumbif says:

OH NO OH NO OH NO OH NO OH NO THE COMIC IS DEAD OOOHHH NO NO NO NOOOOOOOOOOOO!

  70. NaturalChemical says:

Finally bothered to make an account. I’ve got to say, this is a fun plot arc. Not sure if it’s the end of the comic or not, but I’ll be checking every week to find out.

In fact, this reminds me a bit of that alternate reality plot on Lost…Makes me wonder if the plot might have split after comic #140.

  71. zeldadude says:

hello 2pstart community. yet again posting from the DSi, so please excuse missplellings. ntbbntegcg you 2. yes once again tim has no beanie and glasses so i guess this isnormal now, despite my previous theory, though i still say he became nearsighted from looking for hidden details. well i`m on my way back.

  72. Benny says:

I’m sure Tim is going to see his mom/dad who’s in his last hours of living.
Tim look like an Asian too so it’s logical!

  73. yeah568 says:

ACK! There’s too much hidden behind the finger that you can’t tell which number/letter it is. >.<

    • yeah568 says:

Never mind – I have a feeling that it’s a lowercase p. That makes no sense though, because no numerical value starts with p.

  74. Zegres says:

Is it just me, or in the 2P start logo, has Ray been getting dimmer and dimmer all day?

  75. Sam101 says:

“Thanks for the 2P Start! Memories, all 168 of them.”

That is my thought of what it says.Because there are 168 comics so far. or maybe just the number of times tim and ray appeared in a comic.

  76. BadnikHunter says:

Guys, this comment might change some theories: http://www.2pstart.com/2010/04/15/high-in-contrast/#comment-25552

  77. elah says:

    *LE GASP* Did Ray DIE?????????!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, the hidden number is probably not a signal that the comic is ending soon, but rather simply because they don’t know how many comics they’ll do before 2P START! ends.

    • BadnikHunter says:

Wow, elah, I’m surprised no one else thought of that, including myself. Maybe it was the fact that the first number looked like a one that makes us think that. And if this sounded sarcastic, I apologize

  78. Cyberkid says:

    I just realized…

Guy I think I figure it out

In 1988,Ray a brilliant 16 year old teenager, has been seeing a psychiatrist, as he seems to be going through a particularly painful puberty. His mother becomes worried about him, after his sister suggests over dinner that he hasn’t been taking his medication. Later that night (October 2) Donnie is awakened by a voice and goes downstairs as if sleepwalking where he meets Tim, a man in a menacing rabbit costume. Tim tells him that in 28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes and 12 seconds, the world will end. While he is outside, a jet engine crashes through Ray bedroom.

Jim Cunningham wakes Ray where he had fallen asleep on the golf course.Ray notices his forearm, where the numerals 28:06:42:12 are written in jagged script. Returning home he is surprised to find police and firemen have cordoned off his home. Ray is told a jet engine has fallen through his room, although it is unknown where it came from. The family spends the night at a hotel.

As Eddie, Ray’s father, drives him to the office of his therapist, Dr. Lillian Thurman , Eddie nearly runs over Roberta Sparrow , also known as “Grandma Death”: a seemingly senile old woman who spends her days walking back and forth from her house to a mailbox for a letter that never comes. Grandma Death whispers something in Ray’s ear that startles him. It is later learned that she had whispered, “Every living creature on earth dies alone.”

In his English class, Ray meets a new student, Gretchen Ross (Jena Malone). Meanwhile, Tim continues to appear to Ray and tell him that he can do anything and will not get caught. Tim also tells Ray about time travel, further confusing him. Ray, apparently at Tim urging, commits several acts of vandalism; flooding the school and torching the home of Jim Cunningham, a motivational speaker. Cunningham’s methods have been much admired by Kitty Farmer one of the teachers at Donnie’s school.

Gretchen and Ray grow closer. She is one of the few people he opens up to about his time-travel visions. Dr. Thurman increases Donnie’s medication and begins hypnotherapy with him.Tim continues to appear to Ray.

With the inspirational speaker, Jim Cunningham, accused of running a “kiddie porn dungeon”, evidence of which was discovered by firemen inspecting the damage due to Ray’s torching, Kitty Farmer asks Ray’s mother to accompany the school’s dance team to LA for an appearance on the show, Star Search. Ray’s older sister, Elizabeth (, and Ray decide to throw a Halloween party while their mother, Rose (Mary McDonnell), and younger sister, Sam , are away. The night of the party, October 30, Gretchen comes to Ray’s house for safety because her mother has suddenly disappeared.

At midnight, Ray realizes that the 28 days have passed, and that only 6 hours remain until the end of the world. Convinced that Grandma Death is in some way connected to Tim, Ray persuades Gretchen and two other friends to leave the party and go with him to her house. There, they are assaulted by the high school bullies. Gretchen is knocked unconscious and thrown into the street. An approaching car scares the bullies off but swerves to avoid Grandma Death who is standing in the road and runs directly over Gretchen. Stopping the car, Tim gets out and starts yelling at Ray, who lifts his father’s stolen pistol and shoots Tim through his right eye (a wound seen earlier as the ‘menacing rabbit’ Tim pulled off his mask).

Grandma Death tells Ray that he must hurry as a storm is forming and he has a lot to do. Ray can’t wake Gretchen and ends up carrying her lifeless body to his home. There he kisses his sleeping sister’s forehead, grabs some keys and speeds away in the family car with Gretchen. We see a strange, inverted, black cloud forming over Ray’s house. Next Ray watches from some road in the hills above town as a tornado forms over the city. Ray seems at peace now, as a vortex engulfs the jet his mother and sister are returning home in, apparently they are caught up in the storm above Ray’s home. Suddenly the jet is shaken violently and we see the engine torn from the wing and begin to fall, creating a whirling pathway through the sky.

  82. Rokai says:

Hey, I just noticed the picture is from Comic#140, where Ray has to take a phone call. Maybe it’s future Tim?

  83. JohnW says:

That comic did say “to be continued”… but the pic on the top left Ray’s phone is unrecognisable, even when zoomed in on.

  84. Wyrm says:

Loving the change in style and a continuous plotline so far guys, however like most of my comments I’m going to have to leave a little downer here.

I’m a little upset Ray that you’ve started to use that crumple effect multiple times. Like, okay it was nice for the “For Sale” comic but, this is a photograph. Maybe the crumple was to discern it from not being in a frame or something, but then the next panel explains it quite well. And the crumple effect doesn’t even filter onto the comic itself on the piece of paper.

Didn’t you complain in your podcasts about overused effects? It’s a double edged sword Ray… don’t get hypocritical.

  85. Ihsoylr says:

GUYS! I just noticed something! In the final panel of Comic #140, “If It Ain’t Broke…”, there is a slight dark-red circle around part of Ray’s phone! Currently we can’t see what’s circled, but it looks a tiny bit like a UFO…

    • Ihsoylr says:

      Forgot to mention this.

Could this comic be a lead-up to an alien invasion? After all, that comic said TO BE CONTINUED but never WAS continued…

  86. Bleharhemjam Debobdeable Almanalafitzgerald says:

Ok, one thing that it seems that no one noticed, which obviously says that this couldn’t be the REAL optional future, is, and I’m only rising from my grave to say this, Look at Tim’s eyes. They aren’t rounded off like in the earlier comics. THERE’S SOMETHING WEIRD GOING ON HERE, that’s for sure, but THE EYES AREN’T ROUNDED. It’s either a mistake of the artist, which I highly doubt, or that it’s one of their almost unnoticeable little hints toward… something, I guess. Anyway, as for my rise; In the case that they try to pronounce my username and put me in a podcast, I have to say that I’ve read all of the comics because of my best friend TheDest747 advice and listened to a few podcasts recently and have loved everything that these guys are doing. I’m sorry that if you guys are ending the comic, that I had to miss out on all of the great memories.

  87. Bleharhemjam Debobdeable Almanalafitzgerald says:

also, my guess as to what’s going on because of that eye detail that I talked about earlier, is that this is actually NOT the same universe as our usual one. Isn’t a usual “soap opera” thing, as Tim here is talking about in his notes, something like an evil twin or opposite universe? Just wondering. Anyway, I think that somehow, Opposite Tim, being in a futuristic Japan where by then there might be a time machine, or Flux Vortex Capacitor, or something like that, must be saddened by his loss of 2P START! and his “last stop” as he mentioned earlier must be to this weird machine so he can go back to when things were good and stop whatever happened, or try to go to another dimension where things worked out. So there, that’s my guess.

  88. boxless says:

Plain and simple guys: it’s an alternate time line where it’s been canceled e will now get into an accident and remember the other world, and fight to get back

Since then Tim has devoted his life to searching across the world for Hannah Montana games so he can 100% them then frame each one and hang it on the wall next to the 110% completed sonic games!!! But Tim eventually gives up on his quest to avenge Ray’s soul because he was driven insane by one bad sonic game to many. He now lives his life in Japan as a famous, rich criminal and is haunted nightly by dreams of ray singing Hannah Montana while wearing his sonic hat.

I know no one here really knows i even exist, and I just need to say now, if its all coming to an end…..good work guys. Batty out.
