Paradise Lost

Ray I had this alternate end panel ready to go in case it worked better once the script was ironed out. Plus, here’s an accidental bonus comic I made when using assets from the previous comic. Hope you guys enjoyed the comic.

It’s bull, but it made me laugh so hard XD
Btw, avoid television and music references. For a gaming webcomic you can’t suppose everybody knows about the movie or the band you’re talking about. I didn’t get all the other miis until I read Lost on the last panel, for example.

I didn’t know Wii Sport Resort can be THAT dangerous…

Fan friggin tastic, I know someone is going to complain about the ease of the joke but sometimes, you just want to laugh. Great idea and execution gentlemen.

Hey, excellent comic guys. I zoned out of lost after season one, so I had to think for a moment.

    Nice comic guys…oh you’re new

  9. Ryman says:

…Later this week, Tim and Ray does the podcast….

Ray: “My blackdoom goes to Tim, who couldn’t find any coconuts….when they’re layin’ right infront of him.”

Tim: “Oh yeah?! My blackdoom goes to Ray, for making a life size sand sculpture of Sonic instead of helping me make a shelter!”

…And then you hear a roar…And realize that Tim and Ray just got eaten by a polar bear in the middle of a tropical island.

  10. This is one of those I can clearly say I do not get only because I probably haven’t ever seen LOST. I think I actually get it, but just don’t know what the Miis are supposed to look like. It would’ve been easier if it was Gilligan’s Island.

  11. Matteron says:

…oh didn’t see the other panels/comic…haha lol I thought you said you don’t recycle comics :DDDDD

  14. Anon says:

Wait, I think Ray might have messed something up.

Why is TimMii the excited one showing all the emotion?
Shouldn’t RayMii be the one whose blinded by excitement while TimMii realizes the situation because his robot parents traded emotions for a monotone voice?

Or are the Mii’s personalities opposite of their creator’s?

  15. FireSpark says:

I can only imagine what mini-game tasks would lie in wait upon “Lost: Wuhu”. Things like “Run quickly from terrible things that you don’t understand”, or “Press the button whenever the countdown reaches zero”, or my personal favorite, “Don’t give any reasons or explain anything, and call it story development”.

Okay maybe not so much on that last one.

  16. freeplay says:

This comic is yet another metaphor for the future of 2p start. Tim is ready to continue on with 2p start. While ray realizes that others have been down the road tim is going down(having a child). So now both of them are worried about the future of 2p start, and the last comic is what 2p start will be in four years, LOST.

  17. ultimateDK says:

Really? They’re calling it “Wuhu” Island?! *facepalm*

    Bonus comic…so funny….

  18. PlayerWM86 says:

Oh, dear…I had a flashback to 2005-06 when I saw the reference to that ABC show…

Lost was one of those shows I rarely watched until the character of Shannon Rutherford was killed off the show in Season 2, and then I eventually came back this year to find the character of Locke hanging himself in a repeat I saw from a later season.

When I saw the comments about the future of 2P START!, I kept thinking things like, “Looks like I came in way too late” when I saw the comic, The Death of 2P START! and thought everything had stopped because Tim and his wife now have a child (congratulations!). Looks like I was wrong from the start. NCG.

Oh god, someone’s taking my job.

Hold up…I just realized…this has the most nudity of any 2p start comic….

….That guy with the beard isn’t wearing a shirt.

  21. roadjcat says:

I’m glad you used “LOST” for the last panel because otherwise I wouldn’t have gotten it. I looked at the Mii cast in the second to last panel and thought I should know them, but I didn’t. It lost a bit of it’s effect on me because I have no interest in Lost, but overall, SCG.

  22. JD Fedule says:

What is Mii-Sayid looking at? And why doesn’t the plane have seats?

…find out in two seasons time.

  23. BadnikHunter says:

Oh look, RayMii looks different. Pretty cool comic, i was actually watching Ace of Cakes last night and they made a lost cake, so its pretty cool to see this comic. Who whould have though Wii Sports Resort could be so deadly.

  24. BadnikHunter says:

Hold up…I just realized…this has the most nudity of any 2p start comic….
….That guy with the beard isn’t wearing a shirt.

Isnt he, like, never wearing a shirt in Lost?

  25. I laughed out loud at the last panel. Of course, I didn’t recognize any of the Mii characters as being the characters from Lost until after I’d seen the last panel.

  26. DrOswald says:

I think it would have been better if it was Gilligan island. But then they would have to be on the S. S. Minnow, so I don’t know if that works.

Anyway, I don’t really care for lost so the joke is kind of lost on me. I get it, but I don’t care for the reference. Probably good for people who watch lost though.

  27. CKcheeseboy says:

Of course, I didn’t recognize any of the Mii characters as being the characters from Lost until after I’d seen the last panel.

Same with me; I was trying to figure out what was up with them before scrolling down and I was a bit confused. I personally would have liked the “Wuhu” ending better, and I think the ending style of just the text (instead of the swooping in from the opening) would have also worked better, but the latter would make it harder to get the joke, especially for people who don’t watch Lost. Maybe in video form that would work. I also enjoyed the bonus comic, so it was a triple whammy this week. I even like the logo.

Also, for people who are saying that the joke isn’t as good for them because they don’t watch Lost, I don’t get why that would be the case. The joke is that instead of going to Wii Sports Resort Island, they’re going to the island from Lost where a bunch of bad stuff happens. I would assume you would know that bad stuff happens even without watching the show, so I don’t see why you would lose anything from this, other than maybe the “hey, I like that” feeling you get when they reference something you like. I mean, you might not recognize the characters, but neither did Eddie or I at first, so it shouldn’t make that much of a difference. The joke works the same either way.

  28. CKcheeseboy says:

I think it would have been better if it was Gilligan island. But then they would have to be on the S. S. Minnow, so I don’t know if that works.

I disagree with the Gilligan’s Island idea; if this many people think they don’t get it because they don’t watch Lost (a show on NOW), how many more people wouldn’t get it because Gilligan’s Island is old? The youngin’s are almost sure to have at least heard of Lost, but that might not be the case with Gilligan’s Island. Plus, then the plane wouldn’t make as much sense, like you said.

Anyway, I don’t really care for lost so the joke is kind of lost on me.

I see what you did there…

  29. TomX says:

I laughed out loud at the last panel. Of course, I didn’t recognize any of the Mii characters as being the characters from Lost until after I’d seen the last panel.

Likewise. Even though I’ve seen every episode of lost thusfar, I didn’t recognize the other Miis until seeing the last panal when everything became clear. (Strange, I have a feeling that’s a metaphor for how the show will end.) Anyway, needless to say I love Lost so to see it mixed with Wii Sports Resort was great.

Ironically, a commercial for the game came on as I was reading the comic o_O

  30. Kyzin says:

I was expecting a “Jurrasic Park” joke, but this works as well. Good job, guys. Love the bonus comic.

  31. MetaRidleyR27 says:

Great Comic Guys! I’ve only seen one episode of Lost, but I know enough about the series to get the joke. The alternate panel and comic are really funny too.

  32. DrOswald says:

Anyway, I don’t really care for lost so the joke is kind of lost on me.

I see what you did there…

I actually did not mean to do that, and didn’t notice it until after I made the comment. But I do like to make bad puns, so I’ll still take full credit for it.

  33. BadnikHunter says:

Oh yeah, lulz at the bonus comic, though im kind of glad it wasnt the real comic because it would have seemed a bit lazy.

  34. BulimicKoala says:

10 bucks says that Ray bites the dust first.

  35. Wyrm says:

RayMii doesn’t really look too much like Ray, and it seems a little strange that RayMii here is the astute one rather than Timii.

Although I guess lately Ray has been more pessimistic about Nintendo, maybe now he thinks Nintendo is out to get him?

Excellent cast of Lost characters in the form of Mii’s though. I will give mad props to Ray for that. I’m not sure why Blue isn’t wearing a shirt, maybe some lost reference, I dunno cause I don’t watch lost. I think this is an acceptable comic for 2PStart Quality.

  36. roadjcat says:

I said I’d hold off on the Rouge comments at least with the comic comments, but I think I’m like now expected to find some way to incorporate Rouge into every setting I can…so…sorry. XD

Now for what the post would’ve been without that preface:

You know who you should ask to fly down and save you? Rouge! 😛

Okay that’s not one of my better ones, but this isn’t easy to do!

  37. Dark_Devin says:

….This comic was ‘lost’ on me cause I don’t watch the show or know what Wuhu is… maybe its funny if I knew anything about either things…I did like the bonus comic which played off of last weeks though, that was funny.

  38. roadjcat says:

    or know what Wuhu is

It’s the island that is the setting of Wii Sports Resort.

  39. D3vin says:

I liked the bonus comic, the dialog fit in that one for some strange reason.
The only guy I recognized is the fat guy, After seeing the “Lost” title screen panel I realized who the rest were supposed to be.

Time to over analyze this one guys:
Tim is overly optimistic about his new career about being a father, but Ray notices the signs and feels that it will be a big disaster. The aforementioned signs are lost on Tim, who somehow insists on talking to the back of Ray’s head.

  40. VTnev27 says:

I just caught on to this site a few weeks ago through a link on GoNintendo, and man am I happy I did. All the comics I’ve seen so far have been good, but this one takes the cake. Awesome comic, I love it.

  41. yeah568 says:

NCG. I don’t watch LOST, but I kinda get it. Oh, and Tim and Ray look Really different in Mii form. Reeeeeeeally different.

  42. says:

I never have watched Lost, and don’t get it. All I know about that show is from my brother and that is its about time travel or something, how does that fit into this?

  43. roadjcat says:

that is its about time travel or something

I’ve never seen it, but I’m pretty sure it has NOTHING to do with Time Travel. It’s about a bunch of people getting stranded on an island.

  44. BulimicKoala says:

that is its about time travel or something

I’ve never seen it, but I’m pretty sure it has NOTHING to do with Time Travel. It’s about a bunch of people getting stranded on an island.

Yea but I think they put some time travel into it. Who cares the show is so slow. Also I think the fat guy will die second

  45. D3vin says:

I think the fat guy will die second

I’d say Ray’d Die first. Knubby elbows have no use in the wild and would slow him down due to air resistance.

  46. Wyrm says:

To be honest, it is pretty irresponsible of Timii to abandon Sarahmii and Lilymii in order to go to Wuhu. Seriously though, it makes it all the more dramatic now that he has to survive so he doesn’t let them down!

Or maybe they think he’s ‘Hiking the Appalachian trail’ huh?

  47. Nebula427 says:

I’ve never watched Lost, so the joke is kinda lost on me…………….. no pun intended.

  48. TomX says:

I would imagine that for the most part, anyone who’s kept up with pop culture at all for the last 5 years, even if they haven’t watched it before, should have picked up enough about it through osmosis to get this joke. Yes, they won’t be able to name all the Miis, but close enough.

And as a fan, great touch having SawyerMii without a shirt. 🙂

its about time travel or something

It’s not about time travel. Spoiler ahead for anyone who’s behind by at least a season and cares…
They have introduced some time travel elements as a way of exploring the islands past to answer some questions from the earlier seasons. Though, I THINK that’ll soon be coming to an end in the show.
49. CKcheeseboy says:

OK, for those confused about time traveling, here’s a summary:

What you need to know to get this comic’s joke:
Lost takes place on an island where bad stuff happens.

What on the show relates to time traveling:
OK, so as 6 people are leaving the island, Ben (a master manipulator) pushed a frozen donkey wheel to move the island, transporting him into some desert in Tunisia. But since he wasn’t the one who was supposed to move the island, it messed things up and the people still on the island started warping around to different time periods. Faraday (a scientist) used the analogy that the island was like a record that started skipping, except it was skipping through time. While it’s skipping, they go to the Dharma camp (a scientific organization that is studying the island) where they have a nuke that is leaking, so Faraday tells them to bury it underground. Also, some people get nosebleeds because their brains get confused with the time-warping, so they need to stop the skipping before they die because their brains can’t handle it. They also can’t change anything in the past, because time will just course-correct itself so that, as Faraday says, “whatever happened, happened.”

Locke (a bald guy) is one of the people still on the island, and he was the one that was supposed to push the donkey wheel. He wants to push it because he believes that bringing the 6 back will fix the skipping. So they eventually find it, he pushes it and goes to Tunisia, and the island stops skipping. The only problem is the people still on the island are now in the 1970s. So they infiltrate the Dharma Initiative and start working there.

Off the island, a whole bunch of stuff happens, Locke dies, and eventually all 6 plus Ben and Locke’s body end up on the same plane. When they’re on their way, the plane spazzes out and 5 of the six are warped to the 1970’s while Locke’s body, Ben, and the last of the 6 are in normal time.

In the 70’s, the 5 get into the Dharma Initiative and start hanging out and trying to figure out a way to get back to the present. Sayid (an Iraqi torturer) tries to kill Ben as a kid, and Jack (a doctor) doesn’t want to save him in the hopes that if little Ben dies, none of the bad things that came about from Ben’s life would have happened, but Ben ends up being saved anyway because since he didn’t die, he couldn’t die (since whatever happened, happened). Shortly thereafter, Faraday comes back to the island from the Dharma location in Ann Arbor, and he says he might know a way to fix things. His analogy is that time is like a stream, where little pebbles (aka minor events) don’t change the overall course of the stream, but big rocks (aka huge events) can divert it. So he thinks that if they blow up a nuke right on top of a huge energy source located on the island, it might fix things.
Make sense now? If so, can you explain it to those of us who watch the show? 😀 But seriously, it’s an awesome show, even though my brain pretty much melts after each episode.

I’ve never watched Lost, so the joke is kinda lost on me…………….. no pun intended.

You’re too slow…c’mon, step it up! (check comment 28)

  50. CKcheeseboy says:

I just thought of a good alternate final panel that only fans would get: Mii-Lapidus comes out and looks at the other Miis and goes, “We’re not going to Wuhu, are we?”

  51. that is its about time travel or something

I’ve never seen it, but I’m pretty sure it has NOTHING to do with Time Travel. It’s about a bunch of people getting stranded on an island.

HAHAHA! Oh, if only it were that simple. If only.

  52. says:

Thats all my brother tells me about the show, that and that its title is about how much sense it apparently makes.

Yeah apparently. I actually wasn’t going to be surprised if it turned out that there was time travel involved. I’ll stick with Fringe, thanks. 🙂

    That was painful

  59. Doopliss says:

How was the bonus comic accidental? “Whoops! Hey Tim, I did it again!”

But it was a nice touch and pretty funny any way.

  60. Lozaiah says:

    LOL!!!

I think the LOST title is better, even though WUHU using the LOST title card would be a dead giveaway.. there are still some people out there who might not understand, since they might not recognize the characters and the title card format.

Bonus comic was funny too! Cliche, but well done.. I still gigled.

  61. Gadoink says:

Hah, loved the bonus comic. That just made my day =D

Can’t say I really enjoyed the main comic as much, seeing as I haven’t really had any contact with LOST, but I must say it’s interesting to finally see RayMii.

I’d say Ray’d Die first. Knubby elbows have no use in the wild and would slow him down due to air resistance.

No no no. Tim would die first, because of his beanie. Beanies have much much higher air resistance than knubby elbows.

ZOMG, A GHOST POSTED IT1!!!!!!! Lulz

  66. Alex McKee says:

Yeah, Ray accidentally the whole comic.

  67. c1f3r says:

they should actually do this in real-life. get the whole “lost” crew on a regular plane and let another random actor recognize them. the reaction would probably be awesome. nice idea, you 2.

Sorry, but I have to giggle at the mention of “water sports”…

  69. Mirby says:

STOP TALKING TO THE BACK OF MY FRIGGIN’ HEAD! *attacks*
