I guess the next comic will be called for “All for one and E for none!” huh?
This is more or less of a “Black Doom episode”. Besides the Platform,(PC vs Home console) I thought the term “Computer game” and “Video game” were interchangeable. Can’t wait for Wednesday!

Nice podcast guys! A good start to the new season! It sounds like E For All was pretty horrible.

Tim sounds like he was a little insane about that point-and-click game. “This has to be some sort of test! Haha! Very funny guys!” I might not be interested in this game, because it sounds like it would irratate me a bit. Flywrench(?) sounds pretty fun, but it too sounds like it would irratate me a bit as well. Hopefully, I’ll get a chance to play these games sometime to see if I like them or not.

This time I tried to make a shorter comment. I think that I succeeded pretty well. šŸ™‚

Oh, and what was the point of that little tune at the end? It was pretty cool.

3. roadjcat says:

Okay, so I’ve swapped out my sticky note method of note taking and have actually switched to a notebook which I’ve labeled “2P Start!”

1. Honestly, I couldn’t really care less about Microsoft…Viva Pinata’s pretty spiffy…that’s about it.

2. Just out of curiosity, was Capcom there…perhaps with something on Perfect Prosecutor? XD

3. I didn’t even know someone like Target would attend…I kinda thought it would be restricted to…y’know, game companies?

4. Umm…I seem to ask this kind of question a lot: I don’t know who Fatality is…should I?

5. Meh, I also don’t really care for PC games that much…they’re okay…

6. For some odd reason, when you guys were talking about your badges…the Elite Beat Agents flashed through my head…XD

7. Couldn’t care less about MMO’s either…seems like I would’ve been very bored had I gone.

8. Was the other Ubisoft game Raving Rabbids by any chance? I’m looking forward to that one.

9. Another episode of obvious things that I miss: Is the ‘e’ in “E for All” supposed to look like a power button?

10. GT was there last year? That’s pretty awesome. GT’s the most reliable IMO.

11. Was the Conduit there by any chance? Probably not because I think it’s first party now, but just curious.

12. Starcraft is spiffy…yeah that’s about all I have to say about that.

13. Of course there was only one dude playing Brawl, everyone else owns it already.

14. Out of all the gaming stuff I’ve heard so far, the announcement of Endless Ocean 2 has me the most excited.

15. What do you mean that someone wouldn’t go for E For All and play Animal Crossing!?!?! I sure would. In fact that’d be like the first thing I went to.

16. After hearing what you guys had to say, and what I personally have found…the lack of Nintendo in anything always leads to failure. šŸ˜€

17. Also after hearing what you guys said, it’s sounds like the Media Summit was much better. You guys should’ve talked about that in length this week and then have E For All be the topic of the week next week.

18. I wanted to mention Time Hollow somehow in this comment for some strange reason, and Tim’s pick reminded me of Time Hollow, which by the way is pretty awesome.

19. When you guys mentioned the bar at the top of the game, I figured that would be the inventory…guess I was right. šŸ™‚

20. Both of the games you guys picked didn’t sound like much fun…especially after you complained about how hard or frustrating they were. XD

21. Beating the Fly game in one sitting sounds a bit pointless to me but whatever…

22. Oh, and Tim, how come you don’t have Wii Fit anymore?

23. When you mentioned Gamer Grub, it reminded me of the Level Up comic. šŸ™‚

24. And with that, can’t wait until next week and the Nintendo-ness.

4. Anon says:

Ooh, Ooh, it’s not a special…It’s filler!

Game conventions sound fun…ok, not this one so much.
I want to go to one, one day.
Hmm, do ya know if there are any in NY coming up?

Fly Wrench sounds like Ikaruga, but opposite.

Also, Gamer Grub still got their advertising…

5. MetaRidleyR27 says:

Oh, one question. What exactly is “Gamer Grub”?

6. roadjcat says:

Hmm, do ya know if there are any in NY coming up?

Don’t complain. You have the Nintendo Store thingy around the corner.

7. Ray says:

Just out of curiosity, was Capcom thereā€¦perhaps with something on Perfect Prosecutor? XD

No.

Ummā€¦I seem to ask this kind of question a lot: I donā€™t know who Fatality isā€¦should I?

No.

Was the other Ubisoft game Raving Rabbids by any chance? Iā€™m looking forward to that one.

No.

Is the ā€˜eā€™ in ā€œE for Allā€ supposed to look like a power button?

I think so…

Was the Conduit there by any chance? Probably not because I think itā€™s first party now, but just curious.

No.

8. roadjcat says:

No.

Okay, short and to the point. That works for me. I kinda had more questions there than comments didn’t I? šŸ˜€

EDIT: Now that I think about it…was there ANYONE there that we’d know besides Microsoft…and Target? XD

9. Gewurztraminer says:

Oh, one question. What exactly is ā€œGamer Grubā€?

I don’t if anyone can really “know” what Gamer Grub is… but I hear it is more than a little dissatisfying… http://www.penny-arcade.com/2008/10/3/

10. Gewurztraminer says:

If Flywrench were a WiiWare title I could see it as prompting another round of Wii remotes stuck in TV sets.

I gave it a try as per your recommendation
but decided to stop at Uranus.

Hey now…
11. sheppy says:

Gave the podcast a listen and have to say, kind of disappointed in you guys. After all, you have interviews being set up, invited to sessions where you can ask the developers questions, trying out new PC games, and your general feeling is “not the kind of games we play.”

But according to your own admission, the kinds of games you play WEREN’T at the show regardless.

To me, that could have been a chance to expand your horizons, try some genres that would normally be too intimidating, and have someone there to help you through it. Who knows, you guys could have come out of there suddenly fans of Sins of a Solar Empire or Demigod. If you have nothing else on your plate, what’s the harm in giving other stuff a shot? After all, when I go to Acen, I’m always in their game room playing stuff that I normally wouldn’t (even bought a couple Cute’em Ups after last year).

Also, you should have given that vest a shot. Trust me. I tried it at Quakecon. Nothing I’d buy but still a blast to try.

All in all, I see your coverage as a missed opportunity, possibly even worse than how you criticized the game medias coverage last year. Was it missing Nintendo? Yeah, which is sad and I was sort of hoping Sony would be there as well, but you went in with a “this isn’t for me” attitude, blew off appointments, and ended up seeing a little of the show when it DID have the capacity to open your eyes to some other genres.

Example? I hated RTS’s for a long time. Everything that was being done never evolved beyond the C&C, KKND, and Starcraft era(and in a way, Pikmin). So I left it alone, ready to completely give up on the genre. But at ACEN, I got invited to try some Company of Heroes. Now I’m back into RTS games in a huge way and eagerly awaiting Dawn of War 2 and Demigod.

Good Podcast..too bad E4all sucked.
but I did download/play flywrench. Fun game, definely agree with how it looks easy, but really difficult in reality. but the music sucks…

13. D3vin says:

I have a question, Most controllers now a days are wireless right? What kept you from bringing your own Wiimotes, Nunchucks, etc and playing multiplayer Smash bros? Or is it more complicated than that?

14. roadjcat says:

Well, the consoles are probably in a case, preventing you from syncing or adding any other controllers.

OH! Something I forgot to mention. I have a Black Doom Award this week. Goes to Natsume for once again screwing up on a Harvest Moon game. XD No typos or anything like that…just a glitch that totally prevents you from marrying one of the guys, and it wasn’t present in the Japanese version, so it is Natsume’s fault. Doesn’t really affect me that much but still, Natsume really needs better game tester peoples. XD

15. lwelyk says:

Nice podcast, but I’m with sheppy, just minus the wall of text.

16. Acgamer says:

Just listened to this the other day. When I opened up Steam (same day), it said Machinarium had launced THAT DAY. Weird, huh? It definitely looks cool.

17. Teengamer says:

That’s funny, I got past the first screen of Mechanarium very quickly. Huh, I guess you just have to have a creative mind! šŸ˜€

The demo on the website is pretty coolio.
