You’re Pushing My Buttons

TimPoor Sonic, he’s so ‘cool’ but he’s always dragged down by really lame sidekicks, like the new ‘Chip’ in Sonic Unleashed. Someone said that apparently Chip is a flying dog, but I really think they’re just plain out of animal ideas, as evidenced by Sonic’s next adventure where he’ll be accompanied by a TALKING SWORD! Anyway, Sonic Unleashed would certainly be worthwhile if you could actually do what Ray drew in the comic!

Nice. I really hope you can do that in the game actually.

Actually thinking about it, that’d be the best Sonic game. Only Werehog form, and you can pretty much spawn any annoying sidekick and beat the crap out of them.

Not bad, but I think it would have been better not having heard the joke in the podcast already.

The Pokemon line was good, though.

And it looks like Chip is pointing at the player when he’s warning Sonic about the enemies.

    :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I was laughing at panel two – especially since I was reading all of Chip’s lines with that high-pitched nasally voice that Ray used in the podcast. GREAT LAST PANEL!! :D

    FGCG!!! (Freaking Great Comic Guys)

Now do some audio to go with it. :D

The Black Knight looks even worse though. >_>

I like the effect on the last two panels where the stuff ‘pokes out from them’ Good comic. I’d laugh so hard If Chip really was just some main background charactor instead of some “(h)Omochao” guy though. And another thing, I hate how the Werehog is called “Sonic the werehog” i mean, That’s what fans called it ever since it was leaked and you just used that instead of calling it something cool. Come to think of it, You should have made sonic say “SONIC SMASH!!!” or some other Incredible Hulk like saying.

Got to agree with CK on this one. Kind of ironic that Tim put out the call for people to give the podcast a chance this week especially.

…but yeah, the joke was funny and the comic was well done, so I don’t know what I’m really complaining about. I like that the last panel is out of focus. :D

    Sadness- no super-special logo! :(

This was a great comic. Espcially good when you think of Ray’s impression in it!

Please Sega..put it in the game!!!

  9. Premium Member FluffyPanda says:

It hurts my head to think how much work must have gone into this comic. The background from the first 2 panels alone looks amazing.

Also noteworthy: Pulling Sonic’s eyelid up – a beautifully annoying touch.

Sonic Team are really running out of ideas. They should listen to the podcast, Duck the Bean is just waiting to take his place as a (mexican jumping) sidekick.

    ACG! (awesome comic guys!)
    seriously, what IS Chip, anyway?
i showed someone the picture of him you put up on the podcast, and they were just as weireded out as i was.

    Sonic Team, WTF?!

  12. Dominator_101 says:

    Awesome comic!

I was a little late listening to the podcast this week, but Ray’s commercial was hilarious! Nice editing by the way.

Also, I can tell you that my brother CK is not a little black boy, just for future reference.

I think we can all agree that reading this comic while imagining Chip with a high-pitched voice, made it 100x better. XD

  14. Premium Member MetaRidleyR27 says:

Nice comic guys! And I agree that this would have been much funnier if you guys hadn’t mentioned it in the podcast.

  15. Premium Member Anon says:

Sonic’s legs are too short and skinny (they should widen below the knee)

But good comic though, funny, can’t wait to see the logo.

what can i say? i got it but didn‘t laugh…

You didn’t read it with the high-pitched voice did you? You haven’t been watching all the podcasts where Chip-like characters are made fun of, have you?

Without those things the comic does fall a tad bit flat I suppose…dunno. I found the second panel funnier than the last though…I’m weird like that.

  18. shadowkid92 says:

ok i rephrase that i laughed but it was to predictable. but dont you think you left something out, sonic would have done something else to chip… google image #1… =D

  19. Ransom says:

That last panel needs to be a wallpaper.

    Now.

  20. Premium Member MetaRidleyR27 says:

Hey Tim? The Forum’s acting screwy. It’ll randomly log people off, and occasionally go to an error screen.

    I concur…

Sorry to disappoint, but the background this time was pulled from a screenshot. I was running out of time…. I believe this is the first(?) time I’ve done something like that, but it won’t be a recurring issue.

  23. loserbum3 says:

I just got Legend of Zelda: Twighlight Princess and am amazed at how similar this looks to the first time you enter the twighlight zone, walking with Midna to Zelda. Was that intentional, or are the games that similar?

You hid it pretty well then. Not that that really needed to be said though. :)

Oh, and this is random, but does Sonic really touch his nose that much or is it just in your comics? XD

  25. Premium Member Anon says:

No, Sonic likes to pick his nose…
    really.

  26. Premium Member CKcheeseboy says:

Wait, that blue guy that’s wearing the red shoes, he’s that guy from that video game, isn’t he?

  27. Premium Member roadjcat says:

Would you like to take part in an episode of Incredibly Obvious Things That I Miss?

    XD

  28. Matteron says:

I was hoping for violence in that comic but anyway I did “research” and found out chip is an annoying tutor if it was me Id hack the game so I could compltely eliminate it

  29. Premium Member Rokai says:

Wait, that blue guy that’s wearing the red shoes, he’s that guy from that video game, isn’t he?

Oh hey Jessica! It starts with an “S” and ends with “onic”.

And here I was giving you the perfect opportunity to just say “Yes, I am awesome and committed”.

I had a sneaking suspicion that it was an image, but I was going to give you the benefit of the doubt. Still, it’s blended really nicely into the comic and there’s not a lot of copy-pasta going on for such a long strip so my comment stands.

I don’t suppose that you got that screen recorder software sorted out yet? This would have made a nice “how it’s made” recording.

  32. John says:

    Well done today looks great

  33. OmegaLord says:

    “hey! listen!”

  34. Premium Member tustin says:

    “hey! listen!”

    AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
*pulls a knife out of hammerspace and start whacking away at the Navi-like Chip. Soon he is unrecognizable.*
Phew… I think Sonic spent too much time with Link in Brawl…

  35. Premium Member Tacos says:

Hey, new logo. Very cool, yet somehow I thought it would be Chip-esque. But still, the blue dash is never a bad thing.

  36. Premium Member roadjcat says:

Looks a bit Spore-ish to me though. XD

I dare someone to try and make Chip in Spore.

  38. Blank-Mage says:

Haven’t played it yet, (is it even out? I didn’t notice,) but once we hit Marine in Sonic Rush Adventure, I figured it could only get better, seeing as to how the bar had been not only lowered, but buried in a nearby mineshaft. Why can’t we just have Tails?

  39. Blank-Mage says:

    We’d have to care, first.

    HEY SONIC!
    lolz XD

Yeah I may sound stupid but who is he trying to imitate?

  41. Phos says:

I’ve only seen Chip at the start, end, and any time you hit a help marker. It was kind of unexpected that they made him at all, though, I would have expected the new team to be a bit more conservative in terms of new characters.

And the director of the talking sword game is insane, he said in an interview that he hears Sonic’s voice in his head.

And a Fred Fredburger (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Raf95qZ0HqU) voice is even better than a high pitched voice (it wasn’t funny till I imagined it like that).

  42. Arkhon says:

I think “HEY SONIC” refers to the navi from Zelda.
I’m not a Nintendo or Sega fan, though, so I don’t know.

  43. Arkhon says:

Ignore that last comment; I see now that someone else has already made my point. I really need to learn to read all of these before posting…

  44. Rusty says:

    HAHAHAHA
the Poke’mon line made LOL for far too long. Well done boys!

  45. Premium Member Gadoink says:

“You’re a Pokemon, aren’t you? You followed me here from Brawl…”
    lulz

  46. Ethan Kerr says:

Chip is actually Light Gaia *SPOILER!*
    Lol. Great comic guys.

  47. R3tr0 says:

Sonic was one of the worst things that got into Brawl… I don’t think anything would follow him back to his home in hell… Not even a Pokemon.

  48. Leif Coleman says:

Yeah, Sonic is great. Just those sidekicks… XD

  49. Premium Member chriskatching says:

    GO GO SONIC! DESTROY!! LOL

    Hhaha jk….

That sword one ‘looks’ good, dunno… I haven’t had time to look into it.

Sega is pretty much scrapping the bottom of the barrel here. I still think all Sonic fans are in for a big disappointment when Sonic 4 is out!
