Wii Drought

TimI just saw the release calendar for Nintendo’s Wii and DS, and I’m blown away that the only Nintendo-published games coming out between January and March are the two GameCube remakes Pikmin and Mario Power Tennis, and they are coming in March. Now I am pretty excited about Mario Power Tennis, but give me a break! The last two releases from Nintendo were Animal Crossing on November 16th and Wii Music on October 20th! Those two games weren’t exactly must-have titles for me either. So December, January, and February will see no Wii releases from Nintendo. Fortunately there are a couple promising titles from Sega (ironic?), but I sure hope we see some fireworks from Nintendo soon because my Wii is really collecting dust!

World of Goo and Strong Bad make the pain go away.

Was there sarcasm behind your excitement for Mario Power Tennis? That’s by far my least favorite installment of Mario Tennis. Although the Pikmin one’s I’ll be getting because I haven’t gotten around to playing the GCN ones.

And this goes back to a point I made in the forums that even though there are probably around the same amount of ‘hardcore’ titles for Wii and GCN, the Gamecube era felt much more spread out instead of getting all the good titles early on with the Wii, leaving us with this drought.

Oh, my Wii is already collecting dust. It’s sad that is hasn’t been plugged in for a good month now. I think the main holdout for any games on there is that it’s not really a standard console and Nintendo is almost expected to do something outrageous with the controllers. If there were normal controllers, then they would pound out so many mediocre games, it wouldn’t be funny.

Though, I still think that the Wiimote-Nunchuck combo is fine as a normal controller, and more flexible to hold than a normal controller. If they just stop worrying about gimmicks with the motion control…

And speaking of a drought, have you guys noticed that EVERY CONTEST that pops up now a-days is offering a FREE WII as a prize? Seriously, I don’t know what to think of this – is it that they can’t get rid of Wii’s fast enough or is it that it’s just the thing to have these days?

Ooh, that’s unfortunate. I rarely play my Wii, just for the occasional Brawl when I have friends over.

  6. I’m hooked on Guitar Hero and Rock Band so I’ll never have to worry about a lack of games to play because there’s a new one every month =p And finally being a fan of the Wii versions is about to pay off.

Honestly though, I have such a backlog I don’t even notice. I mean, my backlog includes Final Fantasy Tactics for crying out loud. The first one.

  7. there’s a new one every month

btw, I’m not implying that that’s a good thing.

The Conduit is slated for March just so you guys know. But on that list, it’s probably Rune Factory Frontier and Platinum. That is assuming that I get a working Wii (as mine is busted).

Out of the remakes those are probably one of the only few I DON’T want. Where’s Metroid Prime…and Pikmin 2? Okay well maybe those are really the only ones I want…but seriously…WHERE’S METROID PRIME!?

    HELLO! FEDS!

That’s good. But yeah, crap otherwise. Oh well, gives me further chance to fill out my PS2 RPG collection. I <3 RPGs.

wow has anyone noticed that all the major wii games have been pathetic in every way i bet that pikmin is just a remake with improved graphics.

I’d like to disagree with this statement. Simply because Cube had more core games coming from Big N in the first half than people give it credit for. After all, Eternal Darkness, Rogue Leader, Star Fox Adventures, and Wave Race: Blue Storm are titles people have forgotten about all too easy and they were released in the first two years.

    Nope, haven’t noticed anything. 😛
    And Pikmin is a remake with Wii controls…and it’s only 30 bucks…

  13. OH GOD WHERE’S RHYTHM TENGOKU AND PROFESSOR LAYTON.

They… they promised me and… why Nintendo, WHY?!?

It’s all gonna be okay. After all, what does Tomba have to fear?

I’ve always wanted that the media should just stop producing games/movies for a year so I can go back and enjoy some of my older games a second time around, and looks like I should have been careful what I wished for. So when’s that Genesis collection coming out for PS3?…

  16. lwelyk says:

Hm…? Did Nintendo say something? Oh sorry, I was too busy playing Left 4 Dead and Team Fortress 2.
On a completely different subject: I think Ray and Tim should try playing L4D together now that they each have a 360 (Better still, if they each have a decent PC rig; get it on Steam). I bet that would be crazy fun for both of them. Be sure to record Ray on video if that happens.

Oh, you have L4D on Steam? As soon as I get a new graphics card. (My last one died a week ago) We should play together.

AND I WANT PROFESSOR LAYTON 2!
