2P START! Live!: Yule Log Edition

Live!

TimEddie joins us one more time as we discuss whether or not making “filler” content is better than having nothing at all. Plus, many of your favorite segments! Oh, and laughter. That’s always helpful in these things.

Okay, I don’t have much to say on this one actually…*crowd gasps*

    1. Let me start off with this: “Rouge”.

    2. The remixes are always pretty spiffy, but rarely do I ever recognize the original song…I guess that’s what I get for only recognizing songs from Nintendo’s main franchises…and Ace Attorney.

    3. I’m on the “filler side”. I’d prefer something small to nothing.

    4. I thought that podcast with just you Ray, was actually kinda funny. I still got to do my note stuff and all that jazz, and it was an interesting twist.

    5. You guys act like every time there’s filler, we’re going to form a mob and come after you (remember lwelyk can track you down)…okay, well some might want to….y’know I can’t figure out a decent way to end this note because it’s going nowhere…XD

    6. Pfft. VGCats doesn’t even update once a month…

    7. Wait…did Tim have a comment of the week? Was I not paying attention…

    8. Hey! Emerl was pretty cool…Battle was actually decent.

    9. I had those exact same problems with Lego Indy. It might be that I’m still getting used to the controller, but it’s really annoying.

    10. Oh and after playing Lost Planet, I now see what everyone is talking about. I got 20G for beating the first two levels and I got 20G in Kung Fu Panda for mashing Y…what the heck?

    11. Oh, while playing Lego Indy with my dad, something interesting happened. There was a monkey and we knew that we were supposed to give the monkey a banana…so we go get the banana, and go to throw it to him, but we get attack by a spider, so my dad attempts to bunch the spider, but ends up killing him with the banana…from that point on the game thought the banana was a weapon and would not let us give it to the monkey…so we had to go back and get another banana, which was not easy because you can’t drop items…

    12. I can’t think of a single game that I’ve 100% completed…there’s not much motivation for me…even in Metroid…I can just youtube the endings if I feel like it…

    13. I agree, GC version of baseball was annoying…I never did get that stupid Hammer Bro.

    14. Nintendo kind of as a wireless router, but it’s only 40 dollars, so what’s with that? I mean I understand it’s a bit different, but they both accomplish the same thing…why is one so much more expensive.

    15. Okay, yay, musical misfits again! However, I was under the impression that these songs were just unheard of…not unheard of AND from the NES or SNES era….maybe I just misunderstood, but anyway, I’m recommending this song again: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-sG4Q028l0I

    That’s all. 🙂

If you guys want to make more money (even though you do it for the fun), you should release the comics in physical form!

  3. MetaRidleyR27 says:

First of all, yay for Eddie! And I can’t believe you guys are still snowed in. There wasn’t any snow here this year.

As for filler, I’m fine either way. If you guys are too busy, I’m fine with not having anything. But, I always prefer to have something than nothing.

Wow, the thing about the rocket launcher was so complicated. I haven’t experienced any button mapping like that, but it sounds pretty bad.

I really wish Achievements were worth more than just personal satisfaction. It won’t be long before Ray even passes me in Gamerscore. 😕

Who on Earth would pay that for a Yule Log? And please don’t make us pay to read the comic, guys. D:

Anyway, Nice Podcast Guys! The Musical Misfit was pretty cool! I’m not really sure if this counts, because it’s a remix of a song by the Charlie Daniels Band. However, this version is only in Guitar Hero 3, so it might count.

Wow…I really need to start reading my comments before I post them…x_x Sorry about the typos.

    Why need Tim?
because there needs 2 p’S for it to be 2P START!
Filler is good, as long as it is related. just like that one comic that Tim did.Since I’m the go to third person, I could do something in the meantime

Does anybody else find that the soothing monotone of Tim helps them go to sleep? If I’m having a hard time nodding off, all I do is find a 2pStart podcast on my iPod, and wait for Tim, and before you know it, I’m off in dreamland. I know it sounds creepy, but I can’t help but think that there must be SOMEone else out there who feels the same…

You sure you just don’t find them boring? XD I have a similar situation, I suppose…G4’s shows put me to sleep…I have no idea why. I’m not bored or anything, but they make me really tired…

But wouldn’t you fall asleep listening to the podcast. And wouldn’t that mean that you’d get Nightmares when Tim Black Doom goes Mwah Ha Ha?

  11. sheppy says:

Because I’m the kind of jerk that remembers….

Indiana Jones aimed an RPG at the Nazi Caravan towards the end of Lost Ark, threatening to destroy the ark before being captured and staked to a pole. So yeah, he never went gonzo bezerk like in the game but Indy had his RPG moment. Would have looked much cooler if he had gotten his hands on a Panzershrek instead…

  12. sheppy says:

YAAAAAY! I get to disagree again!

First, thanks for the musical misfits. That’s the first game I ever beat (though on my grandmas 2600, I could get all the way to Wave 37 on Joust on normal mode, and through three complete cycles on Moon Patrol). That put a huge smile across my face while listening to this podcast and I could completely remember the escape sequence after destroying the heart…

    Anywho…. Netflix.

    Three things really.

    1. If you are using a wireless adapter, shame on you. Wireless does NOT have a steady internet signal which true streaming needs to successfully do this at. Direct connection to the router is a must on real streaming outside of the video marketplace.

    2. Resolution as determined by speed is a necessity, unfortunately. Well, let’s put it this way. Netflix judges your connection based on it’s low. So that if you spend time in low, connection to the film is never lost and as such constant interrupts due to viewing faster that receiving as seen on Hula.com for some people doesn’t rear it’s ugly head. This for many would be unacceptable. So why not just buffer? Because Netflix doesn’t have permission to store data into memory like a temporary directory that would be needed. Why ever not? Video Marketplace, me lads. THAT’S still the main draw. Watching WHILE downloading.

    3. Why was Elf not included? Well, hate to break it to you but I severely doubt the movie maker would allow Elf to be streamed like that. It’s still a top holiday DVD every year. Running on TV is one thing but on streaming through the interwebs for frees is a whole other. If you look at the watch instantly library you may notice a vast majority of it is beyond the window where companies expect the movies to make money from the DVDs. Yes, that does suck, but I wouldn’t place the blame on Netflix.

As for me, just got done with my first test through the 360 and have to say I passed with flying colors. Back to the Future 1 & 2 both performed well and I had all four bars. But as I said before, I don’t do wireless so that COULD be the core of your problem.

That’s simply not true. If you have decent coverage to your wireless adapter then you can get a very steady connection at a speed that is more than enough for HD streaming.

However buying the official xbox wireless adaptor is pretty pointless. The Xbox 360 has an ethernet port, why not just buy a standard access point and connect it with a normal cat45 cable? Much cheaper and more flexible.

  14. Tacos says:

As far as filler: For the comic, you guys seem dedicated to your once-a -eek-never-break-the-format, I’d say even a filler on that is necessary. But honestly, busy schedules are a part of everyone’s life and if it does inconvenience you and prevents a podcast being made, just write a quick message explaining. You guys are awesome, but you’re not Superman. And your Christmas comic was fine. Honestly, people don’t go to their real jobs on Christmas, why should you do your side-job then as well?

VG Cats can make me laugh quite a bit, but it does bother me that he never updates, but at least he has admitted it so thats a good step. And Super Effective has been relatively consistent.

100%? I mean, the Lego games are fun, but thats pretty intense. And the only time when that type of button configuration works is when theres an “action” button that does everything from pushing buttons to opening doors as long as it can only do one thing at a time.

More Kingdom of Crystal Skull bashing. I love it!!! But Sheppy makes a point.

Never complain about free food, especially if you’re hungry. Good life lesson right there.

Everytime a Musical Misfit starts, I think the earthbound song is the song and I go “WHAT?? THIS ONE AGAIN?” But then I am pleasantly surprised.

  15. Matteron says:

Um Eddie personally i feel sorry for u i mean 2 weeks in a frozen prison that ray calls home playing only Lego Indiana Jones…Wow….just plain old…Wow… … … Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why must it always come to something tragic like this whyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!

  16. Just now catching up to last week’s podcast and yeah, what’s the deal with the $100 wifi dongle? Of course, I just got a 360 yesterday and was too impatient to research other options so that’s my own fault, but sheesh.

    At least it works great.
