On some tracks of the PixelVision soundtrack, it gave me a very Dynamite Headdy vibe, especially the ending. I like the new segments, espesially the ‘Wise fwom yo Gwave’ segment. Now people will not complain about that other award going to the newbie.
A GUEST COMIC NOT BY ME????!!!! Say it ain’t true!
I guess you dropped the ball on your ‘surprise’ for the big ‘one zero zero’. I DO have another guest comic on the way so I might drop a teaser on the forums. I got the thing for the center of the logo done…

Silver is actually good charactor, but since he debuted in the worst sonic game ever, he kinda fell into the darkness were Big the cat and Black doom is evil. The black doom awards I thogut were Good, especially the Getting achievements every minute for very lame stuff. I mean the Simpsons game does that as a joke but a serious game like that shouldn’t. I guess the game is so hard that people usually quit at the beginning.

I hated clicking in the joystick in games because when playing Conker’s bad Fur day for the xbox, you click the first stick and you JUMP!! I hated that since my third party gamepad is loose and accidentally clicks when i Move a particular way I jump and die because I fall off of some cliff do my death…

Damn my comment was too late

  3. MetaRidleyR27 says:

Tim usually sounds like he’s super bored (or tired) when he talks. And Rise from the Grave is really cool! That way the Suggestion Box is filled with actual meaningful comments.

The new music segment brought a smile to my face. First of all, using the No More Heroes victory music was a great choice! The music from the Tap game was really great as well. I think I’ll look into this game to see if I’d like it or not.

First of all, Viewtiful Joe is awesome. I recently picked up the first one, and it’s absolutely amazing. Coincidentally, I beat Viewtiful Joe today. 🙂

Pixel Vision is a really great album. As much as I’d love to see it made into a video game, it’d be exetremely hard to do. Although, a Lace vs. Anti-Alias video would be really cool.

I’m curious as to what this 100th comic is going to be. I’m also curious as to who this mysterious artist is. Could it be… Devin?

They actually tell you to keep breathing in Wii Fit? That’s, um, weird. It was probably one of those things that they’d add so they couldn’t sued.

I got a similar achievement in Soul Calibur 4. It was something like, “Welcome to the new world of Soul Calibur!” While ridiculous, it was a nice surprise. However, what they did for Prince of Persia is just crazy. I just may pick this game up to get these crazy achievements. Come to think of it, didn’t Tim wish for a game with achievements as easy as Dash of Destruction? 😉

Wow, I guess I’m a Professional Analog Stick Presser. I guess I’m not as weirded out by it since my first system was the PS2. What does Gears 2 use that for? A sniper scope or something?

And as per usual, I will finish up by saying, Nice Podcast Guys! And I have a feeling that this comment is going to be unseeable until a moderator approves of it. 🙁

  4. steve-ohs says:

Great Podcast as usual. I always enjoy listening to them!
The new segments are great, always fun hearing new things.
I really want PoP now, I need some achievement points to help me catch up to my friends.
And about GoW2 after the actaul podcast. I was in a lounge at my college and someone was playing the big worm part of the game. All the other guys in the room was amazed and so excited about how they had to destroy all the arteries to all the hearts. I just was wondering how it worked biologically.

  5. nintendogamer101 says:

Why would you give Prince of Persia a Black Doom Award for having easy achievements?! Isn’t that a good thing for the gamers?

And by the way, I doubt that people on welfare can afford an Xbox 360. 🙂

  6. RedVinnie says:

bring back the wii-centric podcast. this week was excellent as per usual, but as i have everything but a 360 and a PS3, i find some of the three 360 topics boring. but other than that, i would have loved to see ray do the big one zero zero, but will you at least do a logo this week?

  7. Ray says:

but will you at least do a logo this week?

    Yes.

  8. roadjcat says:

Okay, kinda short comments this time.

    1. Like always, “Rouge”.

    2. Okay, thank you. Rise From the Grave is the perfect solution (and one I believe I recommended several podcasts ago. :P).

    3. Yipee! More music. It sounded quite nice, but it sounded better before the vocals.

    4. Okay, seriously. Chicken grab may be 2008, so instead you should do cucco grab (how many times have I said that now? XD).

    5. Sorry, but I guess I’m on the villians’ side. I respect retro games, but I can’t say I’ve enjoyed any of them. Super Metroid is about as retro as I get.

    6. w00t! Another mention for me. I never get suggestion box, but I’ve been mentioned like 5 times, but okie dokie whatever. 😀

    7. Okay, this is really nitpicky, but I want to say it anyway. It’s not the Phoenix Wright series. It’s the Ace Attorney series.

    8. I agree with that whole Lost Planet achievement thing. I compared it to Kung Fu Panda last time, but this time it’ll be Mirror’s Edge. You finish a level in Lost Planet, you get 10G. Finish one in Mirror’s Edge you get 20G…

    9. I noticed those PoP achievements yesterday, and I had a pretty similar response.

    10. Okay, though I will admit, some of those sound even more ridiculous now…

    11. (Why am I splitting this into three comments? Oh well) Perhaps the harder achievements come later?

    12. (Make that four) Okay, you got 60G in like less than 30 min. I got 60 for completing Mirror’s Edge…though I probably did get 60G early on in the game to. Mirror’s Edge has good achievements.

    13. Okay, that’s pretty funny Ray. On Saturday, I was waiting for my sister to finish watching something so I could play Mirror’s Edge, and I was fiddling with the controller and I said, “Y’know, I think it’s really stupid how the control sticks are also buttons.” XD

    14. I clicked the right analog stick a couple of times in Mirror’s Edge and it worked okay, but I was standing in place, and it just make the sniper rifle zoom in…that kind of thing works I guess.

    15. So how do you guys decide when to do a musical misfit?

    16. Yeah, I was actually kinda surprised when I looked at your card and saw that you were playing GOW2, Ray.

    17. Okay, join the club Ray. I’m in the same boat as you with the hardcore stuff. I was actually really surprised at the amount of swearing in Mirror’s Edge. I was kinda taken back because I had never really had the “experience” before…

    18. Ew. Giant worm. That was only appealing in Paper Mario…though it was a whale…same concept, you were inside it. That was a spiffy whale (tuna) too. 😀

    Okay done. 🙂

  9. roadjcat says:

Crud. My comment is awaiting moderation so I can’t correct my mistake with the first point. I meant the bat, not the X-Men character. XD

  10. sheppy says:

I think I can comment on the Gears of War level. Personally, haven’t played and I wasn’t a fan of the first. But to answer your question of where the giant worm level comes from, Kevin Lanning (lead character artist) recently said on one of the CG forums that it was paying an homage to Contra. Contra games, especially on Super and PS2, had some really disturbing levels and bosses. So it sort of makes sense.

  11. A*. I rose from my grave awhile ago and all I got was this lousy screen name ;]

    B. I like the near family friendly atmosphere here. It’s a nice breath of fresh air from, well, the rest of the internet gaming sites out there.

    C. I say bring on the new characters for 2009. Just so long as none of them are named ” _______ the [insert animal name]”. Not that I’d actually be concerned about that happening…

    D. Also surprised to find you playing Gears of War Ray. I don’t think I’m the GoW2 kind of gamer either. Maybe I should avoid Kung Fu Panda in case it’s the gateway game to being “hardcore”. =]

    *numerical order is taken =p

  12. roadjcat says:

Crud. My comment is awaiting moderation so I can’t correct my mistake with the first point. I meant the bat, not the X-Men character. XD

Okay, this has got to be a first even for me…I didn’t mess up the first point…*headdesk* Sorry, I’m pretty out of it today.

  13. RedVinnie says:

but will you at least do a logo this week?

    Yes.

sweet. you guys are the best.

  14. lwelyk says:

Oh, and if you want to play shooters the right way, you play them on the PC (Steam helps too :D).

    *highfives*

  15. CKcheeseboy says:

Thanks for the mention! I do think those were the best, although I did like “Get your parents to help you hook it up” as well. And MetaRidley, yes, they do say “Remember to keep breathing while you exercise” word-for-word.

I’ve gotta side with Ray on a couple of things. (WARNING: Long post approaching!) I think another thing about the clicking control stick is that it’s not intuitive. I remember playing a Halo at somebody’s house, and I couldn’t work the sniper rifle. I was hitting all of the real buttons, and nothing was working. Even after asking somebody else, they were like “Hit the left control stick” or whatever and I was just like “Huh?” and it took me like 10 more minutes to realize that it went in.

I also think I’m in the same gamer category. Games like Halo and Gears of War just don’t appeal to me. I mean, I look at those types of games, and they all seem like “run around shooting crap a lot”. To me, they all look essentially the same, just different weapons/characters/maps/whatever (possibly a few different mechanics, but nothing major). I just think there’s not much in terms of gameplay that distinguishes them from each other to make one a AAA game and another not worth a purchase (discounting poor controls and stuff like that).

I also have to echo that those games don’t seem fun/enjoyable. The cursing is something I could do without; I think I would just feel awkward playing a game with tons of that. But just running around shooting stuff doesn’t seem appealing to me either, especially with “hardcore” graphics. I prefer LoTR style violence-no blood or guts or anything. I mean, if there’s a little bit of blood where somebody gets shot, that’s not that bad, but I don’t want to see stuff flying everywhere. One game I do like is Counter-Strike, but that was mostly because of the experience. I would play it at LAN parties with my friends every once in a while with 6-8 people, so it wasn’t all about the game itself. Most of the fun was the fact that we were all good friends who weren’t very good at the game but had fun running around trying to win and smack-talking each other from across the room. If I was playing something like that 1-player, I don’t think I would enjoy it as much, because most of the fun came from trying to outsmart and mess with my friends rather than a CPU.*

To each his own, though. If being a Nintendo fan and liking games like Boom Blox and Lego Star Wars means I’m not hardcore, then I don’t want to be hardcore.

*I should also mention, I’m not a huge fan of online play either. Part of it is because I’m not amazing at most of the games I play and would probably lose most of the time, but I would much rather play somebody I know instead of somebody I don’t. Even stuff like Rock Band seems more enjoyable to me to play with people in the same room rather than over the Internet. Plus it makes it easier to switch games if you all of a sudden feel like playing Smash Bros. or even doing something non-video game related. I guess I’m kind of an odd man out among video gamers, but whatever.

    …but as i have everything but a 360 and a PS3…

    …so you have a Wii?

  16. moonjuice7 says:

HAHAHA. this isn’t really a risen from the dead award, since i recently made it onto the top poster board in the forums, But i haven’t commented here much. I have listened to all 61 podcasts. i started listening to the first podcast the day arctic blast edition came out and finished the last one tonight. GPG. Great podcasts guys. I have followed this comic since the brawl auditions comics and found it quite enjoyable. I love how clean this comic/podcast/forum/entire site is. You guys are amazing.
P.S. one more calfornian (Tim, Roadjcat and Me)
P.P.S. I already ruled out risen from the dead award, so i figure i’ve got comment of the week this time. 🙂

  17. Thanks for picking a comment relating to the podcast instead of the comic. For a while I felt like those were getting overlooked.

  18. D3vin says:

I’m curious as to what this 100th comic is going to be. I’m also curious as to who this mysterious artist is. Could it be… Devin?

Nope, not me. Too bad, as I am working on another one too… Maybe I might get to make comic 200… Only one hundred more to go. *SIGH*

  19. RedVinnie says:

    …but as i have everything but a 360 and a PS3…

    …so you have a Wii?

    yes i have a wii

  20. CKcheeseboy says:

    …but as i have everything but a 360 and a PS3…

    …so you have a Wii?
    yes i have a wii

So was that the only system you meant by “everything but a 360 and a PS3” or am I missing something?

  21. Betta splenden says:

I’m glad that Pixel Vision was free, because it wasn’t as good as Jessica and the Silver Eclipse. On the Raybob industries site, itmentions a third album. How can we get that? Ray, the 10st comic better be amazing because you’ve had a week off. For the shirts, I’d like to see a Tim’s Take or the girl on the cover of Pixel Vision on a shirt. 50 points for not smashing your X-Box from too easy awards. Pressing the control stick down would work, as long as it’s not going to mess up your aim. In one game it worked well as force powers.

  22. Rokai says:

Congrats for your new mic Ray!

Tim loves little Japanese girls? O.o

A flash game with achievments: http://armorgames.com/play/2893/achievement-unlocked
It makes fun of achievments you should try it 😉

I found this podcast unusually funny….maybe because I was listening to it. So nice podcast…I haven’t said this in a while.

  23. RedVinnie says:

no i meant ive had everything before the current gen. xbox, not 360, ps2 gcn,ds,gba, gba sp,n64,genesis. i cant even think of them all.

  24. Tacos says:

I could actually notice a difference in the voice right away. A much higher level of clarity (that was an awkward way to phrase it, but I really wanted to use the word clarity).

For those about to rock For those who haven’t commented, we salute you!

That is intense tapping. Japanese girls singing Engrish is always great. And think about Sonic Boom. That had a similar feeling. You go go, you can fly, you can reach the other side, of the raaainbow

A goomba vs roomba shirt would be nice. Or a q-bert and birdo one. except that may get some strange looks on the streets (copy/pasta from a previous t-shirt topic).

If Lace was the equivalent of Pantsman from VG Cats, that’d be cool.

And I didn’t realize PoP was like that. I heard it was easy, but this kind of adds to that theme.

Well, I was expecting Sonic Unleashed to be your Black Doom Award Ray. Honestly, in some instances, pushing down is alright. Sniping in Halo, knifing in CoD4.

And that was by far the longest extra-rambling part.

  25. FluffyPanda says:

My first thought as I started playing the podcast? “Cool, Ray’s got a new microphone.”

The only thing about clicking on the thumbstick to perform an action that bothers me is when the left one is assigned to crouch and I end up dropping to one knee in the middle of the more intense combat scenes. Happens all the time in Fallout 3.

  26. Rokai says:

For those about to rock For those who haven’t commented, we salute you!

    You’re awesome!

  27. sheppy says:

You have all the MAINSTREAM consoles. I ask of you, where is your GP2X?

  28. Matteron says:

Ok all i have to say is WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thank you so much for finally making my comment… but wait wasn’t me who posted the comment anyway…well that was odd… maybe i should just press the submit button now… well… um… bye

  29. FluffyPanda says:

You have all the MAINSTREAM consoles. I ask of you, where is your GP2X?

Do you have a GP2X, Sheppy? I’ve got a first edition, but I haven’t used it for a while. It’s rare to find someone who’s even heard of it outside of the dedicated forums.

  30. sheppy says:

I HAD a GP2X. Sold it about six months ago to pay for my Wiz when it drops. Been missing it. Especially since The Wiz keeps being pushed back. Isn’t it like February now?

Also, E. Thanks to Ray, I’ve started pushing the control sticks in at random times and, wouldn’t you know it, the avatars burp. And I discovered this while he was wearing a tux. Very classy!

  32. Hyper Dude says:

Ah Rey, i know how you feel. when i got my 360 i felted Weird out about using it, but after a while i got use to it.soon you will too

  33. ubuntun3rd says:

Damn my comment was too late

Didn’t you listen to the podcast!? We don’t talk that way around here! 😉

  34. Retl says:

Wow! I am simply amazed at how different things got in the podcast after this podcast(#61). Maye I’m just nuts, but podcast made after this one has a much different feel than this one.
Or I might be speaking too soon. I haven’t heard the ones before this one yet, but it has a very different feel to it.
